Milk Carton Democrats – Washington Democrats in 2017 Deploy Wisconsin Senate Democrat 2011 Strategy…

History repeats.  Many people will remember what happened in Wisconsin in 2011 when control of the state legislature flipped from Democrat control to Republican control and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker began initiating a series of state budget reforms.

missing-wisconsin-democratsIn 2011 the fourteen defeated Wisconsin senate democrats that remained in office fled to Illinois in a failed attempt to block legislation by not providing a quorum.

The 14 state legislators became famously known as “milk carton democrats” and/or  “fleebaggers”.

Today in Washington DC Senate Committee Democrats deployed the same childish strategy to block HHS Secretary confirmation of Tom Price, and Treasury Secretary confirmation of Steve Mnuchin:

WASHINGTON DC – Senate Democrats on Tuesday boycotted two committee votes to delay the confirmations of President Donald Trump’s picks to head the Health and Human Services and Treasury departments.

“We’re not going to this committee today because we want the committee to regroup, get the information, have these two nominees come back in front of the committee, clarify what they lied about — I would hope they would apologize for that — then give us the information that we all need for our states,” Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, told reporters.

The move is an effort to halt the confirmations of Rep. Tom Price as secretary of Health and Human Services and Steve Mnuchin as Treasury secretary after contentious confirmation hearings in which Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee accused both nominees of withholding important information.

While Democrats do not have the votes to defeat the nominations in the Republican-held Senate, a quorum of committee members must be present to hold a vote to advance the cabinet picks to a final confirmation vote.

A new date for the votes has not yet been set.  (read more)

  1. As Rush wisely stated today. Trump needs to fire all Obama appointees as well as any still in place that GWB left from Clinton. Until he does that the democrats will hold each of those agencies hostage. They are in control of each of those agencies by way of “acting director” roles just like the rogue AG that was fired. One by one they will continue to go out defiantly as she did if he doesn’t. When he leaves each agency without an acting leader the dems are unable to play politics. This act used to be customary where out of respect for new POTUS appointees would resign. If not they’d be fired. Either way they were gone. Bush was the one who broke this tradition and it won him no favors.

Allegedly the AG that was fired within the last 24 hours was also drafted to run in the Georgia gubernatorial race because she now has name recognition. This will only continue if something isn’t done to remove all Obama holdovers.

Right….. so is that why Rush today decided to blame Trump for the mess the U.S. Senate has caused when they are the ones who should have confirmed all of Trump’s cabinet picks by now? I don’t care who is what. Yates had an order to follow and didn’t. Therefore, she deserved to get fired. That goes to anyone else who decides to disobey their boss. This isn’t about ideology which Rush likes to make it out to be.

From the Democrat point of view it IS all about ideology. It is not about rule of law. Dems could not care lesss about rule of law or even common courtesy. No, it is all about power to force their globalist ideology any way they have to, including childish tantrums, refusal to attend meetings, catered sit-ins, and every dirty Alinsky trick he ever thought of and then some.

The GOPe play right along and don’t mind looking like spineless eunuchs since they too are globalists. Trump can’t fire elected Dems but he can seek the resignations of all political appointees in the Executive Branch.

          • He was absolutely right to point out all Obama appointees should have been terminated the day he took office. Hindsight is 20/20 I’m not taking credit for anything or claiming to have been saying it all along. It just makes perfect sense. I don’t want every Obama appointee to be given a chance to make a similar defiant exit. There is no need for them to have any orders or the job at this point.

Rush is right on this the appointees sit very high in these agencies and control the agencies in a way the Secretary does not – sort of like Congressional Staff they have a lot of power and they are partisan. You’ll never drain the swamp with career political appointees embedded in all the agencies – and the civil servants know it too.

              • Your “original point” is flawed in what you are expecting to have happen. You want democrats to proceed with votes and to fill a position THAT IS CURRENTLY HELD BY A DEMOCRAT. That is something they philosophically will never do. You have to create a vacancy to get them to play ball. Otherwise they are still in charge.

          • By default I agree with you. But as Rush was explaining there can be no compromise when pitted against ideology. Ideology discriminates at a foundational level with political appointees. They will use every tool they can against him. Remember Bush who kept many of Clinton’s appointee’s was still just a “racist” when a city below sea level – which sits surrounded by the sea – happened to flood after a hurricane GASP. His attempts to work with his friends across the aisle were to provide some support against unreasonable attacks if such a thing was even possible.

This is why the push for “unity” will ultimately fail completely. The globalists don’t want unity. No matter what their label is, be it Democrat, liberal, globalist, communist, etc. their only goal is absolute power and enslavement/eradication of any who oppose them.

You do not seek unity with people such as this. In His typical fashion of setting a Divine example, Jesus, it should be noted, did not try to compromise with the Devil when he came to tempt the Son of God.

That’s because he’s smarter than they are. Rush is aligning himself with the side he believes the majority of his audience to be on. No surprise there. Trump will supply Rush with a never-ending supply of things to talk about. And maybe Rush really does like him now; I don’t know.

I just know that I was very displeased that Rush did not / could not / refused to see what I and so many others, here and elsewhere, saw early on in the campaign: that Trump was the only person who had the skill set to get done what needed to be done. Period. If I could see that, why couldn’t Rush? I was also disappointed that Rush didn’t see what I saw about Cruz, and what Trump kept saying about Cruz. It was obvious; yet Rush acted as if that is just the way the good ol’ boys play the game. I’m sick of the game.

The news is consistent with the cancellation of a temporary flight restriction that was put in place for air travel around the Milwaukee area on Thursday, the day of the planned visit, according to the National Business Aviation Association. Temporary flight restrictions are typically put in place during travel by the president due to security risks.

        and:

However, Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) spokeswoman Maripat Blankenheim told the Milwaukee Business Journal Tuesday that neither the company nor the museum in the Menomonee Valley would be hosting the reported Milwaukee visit planned by President Trump.

Blankenheim was responding to a question regarding a Facebook post from an organization calling itself the Milwaukee Coalition Against Trump. The post called for an emergency protest against Trump’s visit at the site of Harley-Davidson’s plant in Menomonee Falls, at W156 N9000 Pilgrim Road.

“We do not have a scheduled visit with the president this week at any of our facilities,” Blankenheim said via email.

Since President Trump’s visit was cancelled, Blankenheim was plausible. I’m certain HD doesn’t want a bunch of protesters showing up at their facilities. You will recall, the last “protest” (riot) in Milwaukee, WI – was violent (August, 2016). Police had shot an armed suspect. Not uncommon for protests to escalate these days.

This all plays a part in passing the budget — they think that by doing this stunt it will keep Trump’s administration from passing one, then they can get the upper hand (and by this I mean both parties, who have had no problem with not passing a budget for how many years under Obama? while our deficits and unemployment went up, while our infrastructure and security forces, our employment enrollment stagnated?…and they lived lives of luxury?). The trap is this: if they do not get working on these nominations, and then a budget…it can all be laid in their laps just as easily, perhaps more (and by this I mean both parties). They will get the responsibility for any further economic downturn, which will happen given the global situation. I’m sure that certain leaders of foreign powers (Merkel, cough; Trudeau, Nieto, cough, cough…throw in Abe and Xi for good measure; although I’m inclining more towards Abe myself and he won’t be as vocal as the Euro squad) will try to help their beleaguered Uniparty pals, but this does not help them at home in the slightest.
In the meantime, Trump can leave the positions vacant, press for Congress to pass a budget of his liking, and still keep the momentum. This clown show smacks of the last act of defiance; they are very leveraged.

In other news: Iranian/Houthi (reports are still not clear, but the Houthis are clients of Iran) just hit a Saudi frigate. Pentagon believes the target was a U.S. ship, but I’m not so sure (death to the Satans, little and great, is pretty standard Iranian shoutfest fare — and they consider KSA to be a client of both so it applies to them too). Either way, this plays into the travel ban and does not look well (along with those ballistic missile tests by Iran) for the Uniparty that went very willingly along with Obama’s lifting of sanctions and gifting of all that sweet cash. That’s already not playing well in Peoria; it will play even less well in the months to come.

If played correctly, these folks are really going to shoot themselves in the feet (again, multiple times). Just in time for the midterms to roll around.

    • Because the job that we want filled isn’t actually vacant yet. What’s worse is that all of these job’s are held by a Democrat appointed by Obama.

When trying to understand put yourself in their shoes. Killary is President and wants you to vote on a person like Holder. But Killary didn’t yet fire Sessions who is currently in place. Why would you want to do anything at all. The analogy is only to illustrate that they aren’t going to tell us to first fire their own people. But it needs to be vacant positions if you expect a vote on their end.

Respectfully, you have this wrong. The prior secretary under Obama was gone on January 20. An acting secretary is automatically put in place until a permanent secretary is confirmed by the Senate. If Trump fires ” everybody “then the janitor left would become the acting secretary. So the position is truly vacant, but the government must have someone acting in that position.

        • I see what you are saying. You certainly seem to be more knowledgeable than I on this. If so I just want to know more about it. As I understand it this woman was an appointed position from Obama. What Trump had the option of doing was removing all appointees and installing his own interim until confirmation.

Please forgive me for being thick skulled. I just know it used to be customary for resignations and only R’s do that now. In other words it would require an additional step of being asked by the new POTUS to stay on.

I also have heard this AG launched her gubernatorial run in GA with this stunt. That was specifically my major concern. Creating a new rebel lefty as if they aren’t already.

Wait a cotton pickin’ minute.. Senator “Crybaby” Brown stated…”have these two nominees come back in front of the committee, clarify what they lied about — I would hope they would apologize for that ” . Then he said, “then give us the information that we all need for our states,” — if he does not have the “information” what in the heck did he think they ( apparently jointly) lie about.??

Start calling these people out. NOW.

Question: Senator ” Crybaby” Brown, what did mean when you stated the nominees ” lied” What specifically did they “lie” about ? ?

Senator ” Crybaby” Brown: uh um…..

So the dimm senators don’t show up for work so that they can stop the committee votes.

Well, If I were Trump I would (forcefully) shut down all the agencies in question and send every person therein home, without pay, until the dimm senators come back.

  41. I don’t mean to beat a dead horse. I’m not attempting to be rude. Many of you are way more knowledgeable than me. However with all due respect…the bigger issue is simple.

##This is the similar scenario inverted##

Imagine you are a senator in confirmation committee. Killary is President and needs you to move on confirming someone like Eric Holder. But at the moment Jeff Sessions is acting AG. What is your urgency to vote in Holder while Sessions is still there? That is historically why old appointees were removed or had resigned but weren’t just sitting around waiting for their replacement to show up. Usually 10 have been confirmed by inauguration at least. After that the process picks up speed because these agencies have nobody at the helm and senators can’t mess around.

I contend POTUS knows this but has a reason he is doing it. But I had to see it inverted to understand. Maybe I’m not alone.

See my explanation up above. There will always be an acting secretary until the permanent secretary is confirmed. The permanent secretary has to be confirmed before he or she can determine who they want as their deputy secretary and assistant secretaries. Right now the Senate dems are using their last gasping breath to delay This administration, but they will fail. They always fail. The only control they have is to delay their failure. I almost feel sorry for them. No not really.

And if Republicans in the Senate were fully on board, they would have used the Senate Rules, called roll and without debate or comment directed the Sergeant at Arms to bring the absent Democrats to work. There are Senate Rules, senators must appear unless they have requested leave. Someone needs to grow a pair.
