Report: Charlotte’s Keith Scott Had History of Violence Including Arrest for Shooting At Police…

According to a story in The Christian Times, who they claim verified with The Charlotte Observer, Keith Lamont Scott had a two decades long history of gun violence, including an arrest/conviction for shooting at police officers in Texas.   The New York Times has previously reported on his troubled past but not the 2005 shooting at police incident:

(Via NYT) […] According to court records, Mr. Scott was born in South Carolina, was about six feet tall and weighed 230 to 250 pounds. While living in South Carolina in the 1990s, he was charged with a number of offenses including check fraud, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon. Later, he moved to Texas where he shot and wounded a man in San Antonio in 2002, for which he was convicted and sentenced, in 2005, to seven years in prison. He was released in 2011. (link)

The Charlotte Observer also reported on Scott’s extensive criminal career –SEE HERE– and we did independently identify a criminal record in Texas – SEE HERE – which aligns with all of these reports.

nc-riot-19-keith-scott(Via Christian Times) Keith Scott had a long police record that included gun violations. Christian Times Newspaper has learned, and it has been confirmed by the Charlotte Observer, that Scott was convicted in April 2004 of a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge in Mecklenburg County, and other charges were dismissed: including felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault on a female, and communicating threats.  Scott was also charged with assault with intent to kill in 1995.  [ Texas Arrest Record Here ]

The most shocking find in Scott’s record, however, is what occurred in Bexar County, Texas in 2005.  In March of that year, Scott was sentenced to 15 months in state prison for evading arrest, and in July, he was consecutively sentenced to seven years on a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sources are now coming forward and alleging that those two separate convictions are in fact related, and they both have to do with a confrontation between Scott and Bexar County Police in early 2005.

One source, who asked CTN to refrain from using her name to protect her identity, told reporters that Scott fired a handgun at San Antonio police officers when they attempted to detain him in February 2005 after noticing that he was driving erratically.  (Scott had a history of drunk driving, according to court records).

Allegedly, as the officers approached Scott’s black Ford sedan, he fired two rounds from the driver’s seat and then sped away.  Neither of the officers was hit, and they proceeded to give chase and detain Scott several blocks away.

While Scott did leave the gun in his passenger’s seat when he attempted to run on-foot, he did, according to our source, assault one officer by punching him in the face.

Scott was released from Texas state prison in 2011.  (read more)

nc-riot-gun-2nc-riot-gun

Charlotte Observer […] A public records search shows that Scott was convicted in April 2004 of a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge in Mecklenburg County. Other charges stemming from that date were dismissed: felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanors assault on a child under 12, assault on a female and communicating threats.

In April 2015 in Gaston County Court, Scott was found guilty of driving while intoxicated.

In 1992, Scott was charged in Charleston County, S.C., with several different crimes on different dates, including carrying a concealed weapon (not a gun), simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Scott also was charged with aggravated assault in 1992 and assault with intent to kill in 1995. Both charges were reduced, but the disposition of the cases is unclear.

According to Bexar County, Texas, records, Scott was sentenced in March 2005 to 15 months in a state jail for evading arrest. In July of that year, records show, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman said Scott completed his sentence and was released from prison in 2011.  (more)

An initial sentence of 15 months (March 2005) that gained an additional sentence of 7 more years (July 2005), that took until 2011 to complete, definitely aligns with a much more serious set of charges.

A long history of gun violence – HERE and HERE – including shooting at police?

If accurate, those reports when combined with the eye witness who took pictures of the handgun dropped by Keith Scott when shot by police officers (see above and below), the account of the Charlotte police department appears to be validated.

As I’ve said before, a persons criminal history can have an impact on how police officers interact with them, specifically if the officers get that information before dealing with the individual. A violent history with the law is going to make police take fewer chances with you.

Charlotte police said 70% of arrests Wed night had out-of-state ID. In other words, the “outrage” & violence was largely being orchestrated & manufactured. Officials reported that people were being bussed into the city to riot, which would explain the intensity & speed in which the unruley mob overwhelmed the police force.

I wonder when George Soros’ long vacation is scheduled for?

He was a bad dude, the question is whether his actions warranted being shot.

When I was was on SWAT, we took down the money man for a drug cartel. It was a multi-agency, multi-state operation.

He was also a bad dude with a rap sheet at least an inch thick.

We went in with our armor and A4s. I threw the first flash bang. We went in with surprise and dynamics. In one room, a guy dove from the bed to the floor. It appeared he might be going for a gun. I and my partner yelled for him to stop and jumped on his back, tying up his. No gun in room.

We ended up clearing the house, arresting the money guy, and left.

Would I be sitting in my living room if I popped that guy with my rifle?

What is of utmost importance in analyzing various officers’ actions are the one thing never hardly mentioned: what was the threat perceived by the officer? If this threat can be later verbalized, then the use of deadly force is justified, no matter what some cowardly politician, mayor or police chief later says…!

      Great, that is just great.

This Charlotte mayor has a lot to answer for now.

I really thought she was just your typical idiot but now I do believe the fine citizens of Charlotte need to ask for her resignation.

One of the posters on another thread said she was voted in recently and will only serve for a two year term.

I know it is not up to me but I do believe that is much too long.

Allowing the riots to go on for three days is bad enough but if what you say is true about the rioters stealing guns from police cars and not clamping down on them harshly is unbelievable.

The citizens of Charlotte deserve much, much better.

What I Learned in Prison About God’s Love
    by Richard Paul Evans

“…The room was full of felons. In fact, just before I began my talk, the pastor who had invited me to speak informed me that the men were “pretty much all murderers.” In spite of my trepidation, the words came effortlessly. Then, a little ways into my talk, something very peculiar happened–something that’s a little difficult to explain and perhaps even more difficult to believe.

“A powerful feeling came over me–one that was so strong that my legs went weak and I had to lean on the lectern to support myself. It wasn’t fear or anxiety I felt, it was the opposite. It was an intense feeling of love–not from me, but from some external force.

“The feeling took my breath away. For a moment I stopped speaking and just looked out over the men. Then I asked, “Can you feel that?”

“The men just looked at me.

“I said, “This is remarkable. I can feel the love that God has for you…”

It took me a while to figure out why all these national cases seem to involve career criminals that attacked the police. I believe it is because in the extremely rare cases of criminal action by a police officer against a truly innocent minority, then justice is swift and unquestionable, leaving them nothing to protest.

In the cases where the police are obviously innocent, or at worst suspected of bad judgement, and the “victim” is a career criminal who was threatening the police at the time, the wheels of justice, quite correctly, turn much slower.

This leaves the professional agitators something to distort, spin and publicize,

Wife released he video of the shooting…..Clearly exonerates the Officer. Weapon clearly seen on the street.

This Video taken by wife shows noncompliance & seconds after the shooting, shows the weapon on the street.

    http://myfox8.com/2016/09/23/exclusive-video-footage-shows-fatal-encounter-between-charlotte-cops-keith-lamont-scott/

Watch at the 1:21 to 1:30 mark. At the 1:21 mark it is visible just behind PO in red shirt, as the frame shows him approach Scott & his left foot is lifted in stride. You can then the weapon about 2 feet to the right in the street behind him. (just to the right & behind the PO in the red shirt)

At 1:24 it appears PO in red shirt spreads his legs, appears to look down at the weapon, and his left leg moves towards it. It looks as though he might have attempted to swiped it further back with his left leg. It appears to me that he moves towards it and at 1:27 mark, it looks as though he is standing directly over it with the weapon directly between his feet. That is why you cannot see it on the ground at that point.

Also note that the wife, in her commentary, just prior to the shots fired, keeps telling Scott “don’t do it…” You can also clearly hear the PO’s issuing commands to …”drop the gun…”

At the 1:05 thru the 1:08 marks Scott is clearly standing just past the Police vehicle & his arms are in some sort of motion. Concurrent with the …”drop the gun…” commands, the wife is yelling…”Keith….Keith….don’t do it….don’t you do it….” At the very instant the Police are yelling…”drop the gun….” At that point Scott is facing the PO in red shirt. He was not walking backwards as the wife claims.

Really no question as to whether it was a “good shoot”……It was & the wife’s own video proves it.

This doesn’t even make sense. He was in the parking lot of their apartment complex sitting in his car waiting for one of their kids to come home from school? And the police showed up and voila the cops descended upon him even though they were serving a warrant on someone else????

That’s what Scott’s family says the 43-year-old man was doing this week when a Charlotte police officer shot him dead. Police say they were looking for someone with an outstanding warrant when Scott exited the vehicle with a gun and didn’t respond to officers’ orders to drop it — an explanation that his family disputes. http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/22/us/keith-lamont-scott/

“Keith, don’t let them break the windows! Come on out of the car,” she screams, “Keith, don’t do it!”
