Whaaambulance Alert – Republican Leadership Claim Not Enough Votes To Raise Debt Ceiling…

{Insert Winnie The Pooh voice}:

Oh bother“…

Here we go again.  Prepare for yet another round of “sky falling”, “end of the world”, “doomsday scenarios” etc.   Yes Alice, if the GOPe can’t raise the debt ceiling, again, it could mean, *gasp*, another federal shutdown.   OMG !!  Quick run !!

Here we go again.  Federal park closings, barriers on the mall stopping travelers from looking at things, road blocks to stop you from looking at Mount Rushmore; yes these were the previous maneuvers by President Stompy Feet to insure that Americans knew the government was “shut down”.

Because, in actuality, without the government actually spending money to force people to see it, no-one would actually notice.  Yes, Pooh Bear, here we go again:

house senate leadership boehner pelosi reid mcconnelleat-your-own-damn-peas1

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans say they are short of the votes for raising the debt limit and avoiding a first-ever government default. With barely a week before deadline, there’s no plan on what to do.

It’s a huge problem for House Speaker John Boehner and a potential nightmare for his successor-in-waiting, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis.

GOP leaders promised Friday that the House will act next week — just days from a Nov. 3 deadline. Increasing the government’s $18.1 trillion borrowing cap so that it can continue to pay its bills in full and on time would prevent a potential meltdown in the financial markets and save the Republican Party from presiding over a default on U.S. obligations.

Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew has warned lawmakers that the government’s ability to use accounting steps to pay its bills for veterans, Social Security recipients, federal employees and others will run out early next month.

“The debt limit will have to be raised, but we’ve got to do something to deal with it for the future,” said Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. “We’ve got a lot of ideas cooking.”

But in the same breath, House GOP leaders warn that they can’t summon even minimal support for the kind of debt limit increase demanded by President Barack Obama — one that’s free of any concessions to hardline conservatives. They are still holding out hope for some kind of add-on to make the politically toxic vote more palatable.  (read more)

Do you know how many people would pay to see this?

          242,470,820 adults in US
          50% of that =121,235,410
          each of the 50% pay say $10 = $1,212,354,100
          interest/day on national debt= ~ $79,000,000
All this money would only pay 10 days interest on the national debt.
          Pretty scary, huh?

BIG MISCONCEPTION: Just because we can’t pay ALL our bills doesn’t mean we’ll default! Per the Constitution, Treasury bill, bond & note holders go to the head of the line.

    The Vile Debbie Schlussel

Debbie Schlussel is a Detroit area attorney, and also she is a controversial political commentator and blogger. As you can plainly see in the Facebook IM exchange with me on October 22nd (below), she is also a loathsome, vile woman; and now a stalker.

People like Schlussel need to be ejected from both the Zionist as well as the Conservative movements, just as William F Buckley purged the Birchers almost 60 years ago.

Don’t get me started. The House finally passes a bill that repeals the Cadillac tax & repeals the individual & business mandates. What do Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, & Rand Paul do? Why, they’re gonna vote against it, of course. They can put their sanctimonious ”principle” in their ears. Sheetheads.

EskieMom…NO. The House passed bill is not complete repeal. The GOPe is playing us again. They’re trying to get it TOTAL repeal. Then there is another dimension to ths too, and it involves TurtleHead (go figure) and the Senate Parliamentarian (TurtleHead appointee) that works for ALL Senators, and WE pay, who has been helping the Uni-Party shut down our few GOOD Senators!!!!!

Since the landslide victory I have seen so many Kabuki fan dance programs it boggles the mind. The WWF comes to mind with fake wrestling matches and all the fans cheering with their signs in the crowd. Th WWF is fun cause you know it’s fake but the kids get a big kick out of it and the macho stars blustering doing the rooster dance. That’s what we have Trey Gowdy comes out… Yes mam yes mam with his rooster outfit and I’ll get to the bottom of all this as another hearing goes down the drain. The House pick the least vulnerable guys to make the no vote and always just by a few. Hey we tried we fought so hard… The Senate does not even pretend and votes right for Obama’;s agenda… We had to but if we controlled both houses…wait a minute??…We are patriots and conservatives but hey Paul Ryan… we’ll do it but it will cost a pretty penny. Hey lets start a new kabuki double header… the debt cieling and put Mrasha in charge of that PP thing but don’t actually do anything.. recomendations only OK… Hey put that new girl Mia in there too. You can’t make all this up.

Shutting down 15% of the government is a good thing. We will not go into default because of not raising the debt ceiling. The bum in the Whitehouse is directly responsible for the need to increase the debt, so he is responsible for the shutdown. Let him play his stupid games, I am not going to respond to his tantrum.

  9. benzy says:

Just like so many other things with our government, even the “shutdown” is a scam. They aren’t really shutting down anything… well, okay, they shut down a few non-essential, citizen-friendly tourist areas. You know, let’s inconvenience as many people (other than government employees including us) as we can. That should show them we’re serious about shutting this place down. Of course, THEY will still collect their own paychecks. I bet the pensions for former Senators and Congressmen were still paid. Did the FBI stop investigating, or the IRS stop collecting taxes? Maybe they sent all of the generals and majors home without pay. I know… all airports were shut down because the TSA were part of the government shut down. Maybe, just maybe.. if they really shut down the government, Congress would perform their job and not put us in this recurring position ever again. (especially if that meant their own paychecks and benefits were cut off during the “shut down”)

Why do people think “government shutdown” is a bad thing? I’m actually disappointed in the idea of government shutdowns when I learn what gets shut down and what does not.

The government does not “shut down.” It doesn’t. Wouldn’t it be nice if the media would explain that? After all, the masses still consume primarily from the easy-to-eat consumer media.

Warning: if the govt pulls their stupid little tricks like last time, park closings, barricades around monuments etc, it is going to be a whole lot worse for them than they think. We are pissed!!!

  25. The government does not literally shut down only what is considered to be the nonessential part does (and that part could shut down permanently and would not be missed). If we have a so-called government shut down watch carefully and closely which parts of the government that the politicos choose to limit or restrict daily operations. Those parts (and employees) will be called, by the government itself, non-essential! That means we will have a great opportunity to really see and take note of all the non-essential people and activities we are funding with tax money! We can then zero in on the reduction and the permanent elimination of all non-essential people and activities!.

    • Hmmmm… only the “non-essential” parts? SO that means the electricity for the White Hut will be shut off! I kinda LIKE that idea…

    • auscitizenmom says:

It sounds like non-essential people are like the lights that are on in the rooms you are not using. Just turn them off and save the money.

According to Obama, the budget is nearly balanced. It’s not that far out of balance, so, just shut down the debt limit charade. NO MORE DEBT. NO MORE BIGGER GOVT! Repubs, hold the line.

NO MORE DEBT. Stop it now. Shut off aid to foreign countries, stop agricultural subsdies, stop subsidies to wealthy people to buy luxury Teslas, Shut down the Dept of (Crony Loans) Energy, Dept of “Education”, trim HHS way down. See http://gulfcoastcommentary.blogspot.com/2013/04/how-to-cut-450-billion-in-federal.html

  32. Mr.Right says:

50% of our deficit represent the interest on the debt itself.
So we increase the debt by 430 billion (in 2014) just for debt interest payment

We increase the debt by about 1 trillion a year sine 2002 https://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm

So we have to raise the debt ceiling to be able to pay the interest debt itself…

To put this perspective, the interest on the debt alone represent the entire budget of all those agencies combined:

    Department of Education 71.2
    Department of Veterans Affairs 63.5
    Department of Homeland Security 39.0
    Department of Energy 28.4
    Department of Justice 16.3
    Department of Agriculture 21.5
    National Intelligence Program 48.2
    Department of Transportation 16.3
    Department of the Treasury 12.9
Department of Housing and Urban Development 33.1
Department of State and Other International Programs 48.1
National Aeronautics and Space Administration 17.7
    Social Security Administration 9.1
    Department of Commerce 8.6
Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works 4.7
    Environmental Protection Agency 8.2
    National Science Foundation 7.6

We spend 0.17% of the federal budget, not even close to half of a percent, on education.
This is criminal… It only takes a short visit to silicon valley to understand how serious the situation has become.

In California only a single UC was build in the last 50 years. And its a very small one with only 6 thousand students capacity… A fraction of the foreigners the UC educates (over 24 thousands)
Modern China and India economic power all come from their united state education in the past 30 years… Those countries in contrast have created hundreds of technical universities to compete at the high tech in the past 20 years.
South America with illegal immigration obliterated the low end jobs market, asian/india is now doing the same for the high tech industry from their graduates.

Side note: anchors baby from asia/india receive free education all the way to UC…

American governance is broken, and we are going to see an avalanche of social changes , for the worse in the next decade to reflect all the mistake that have accumulated for the past 40 years. (this is irreversible)

So Its very sad to see the US continuing to spiral down even so we see it crumbling, because so many families made immense sacrifices to build a country that reflect their values and believe in freedom… and centuries of blood and sacrifices are being destroyed and squandered by just a few generations of corrupted politician.

  33. keebler ac says:

FIRST, show us a BUDGET. Then we’ll go thru it line by line and cut out waste. Then it can be decided if more debt is needed to run the organisation. Trump knows how it is done. Obviously something is wrong with the operation because the debt keeps getting raised every year – because why? No one is running the operation -it’s on auto spend function. No one is examining the books to see where the operation is going off track over 7 years. This is such an overt demonstration of willful negligence of taxpayer money it verges, and goes beyond high misdemeanor by the occupant of the executive office. Barack Soebtoroh and his wife, including Val Jar and Barack’s czars get ready to be personally sued once out of office. It’s been done to negligent leaders and heads of state in other countries including Canada. It’s too late to run now Obama. There will be gads of class action against Obama for overt taking of a public’s trust once he is out of office. Biden feared for himself and will take a lesser public stance because he understands the Vulgarians are rising and he will meet with Public Enemy Obama and his sponsors on a short JFK type presidency to usher not Fauxcahontas but a suitable Muslim Brotherhood Communist VP to the White House and face the wrath of lawsuits if he keeps playing in step with Barack’s destruction of America.
