Are the details “sketchy” because they aren’t available, or are they available and still “sketchy”?

I thought Matt was shot down at the north end of Lake Titus… Near the intersection of Route 30 and 41.

      • Stormy says:

That is my understanding as well… I just posted the tweet w/map for a general geographic understanding for people not familiar with northern NY. 🙂

  9. 2 miles away, wow he was ready to cross over tonight. His internal compass seems a little ( or a lot ) off due north. He took a long jog around and got shot..I wonder if Canada would return him if captured?

Here’s a picture of him. Looks terrible- although he managed to steal some good clothes for the conditions. I also heard he was shot in the back! Time to riot! Oh… Wait…

I’m thinking Sweat was delirious and in a complete stupor after being on the run for so long and not having his running buddy with him for 36 hours now. The body just cannot hold up that long, especially without any training.

  13. doodahdaze says:

These killers should be shot on sight….JMO

  14. BobNoxious says:

Here is the trail camera picture of the two still on the run from earlier in the week. Police had hunters turn their cams on early to see if they could capture the guys and one did.

On thing I notice is the size of Matt- there is NO WAY he could’ve fit into a 24 inch pipe. That’s one of many things that just do not make sense about this escape.

“Unharmed men shot in the back while running away from police”

Some will ask, how come he is not dead ? white privilege ?

I know of another office that shot a criminal in the back as he was running away, he is sitting in jail right now…. Think about it. One cop get assaulted, weapon used against himself, perp run away get shot. Goes directly to jail
Other cop see the escape run away, shoot him 3 time in the back… A hero ?

Cuomo likes the press exposure to steal the spotlight and control the narrative.

What’s the tab for 1000+ LE, vehicles and aircraft for 3weeks? And when the officers
were looking for these two how many crimes were committed? The burden fell to the
    officers that remained home.
I would almost bet he ask Berry to help pay the bills. And he will help with our money.

  17. Cymrygirl says:

When we got back from a quick trip to town this afternoon about 4:00, Fox News was telling about the capture and was saying the police sergeant who shot him in the back was a firearms instructor who (apparently) knew where to shoot in order to avoid major organs. He apparently confronted the prisoner who was walking down the street, I suppose in broad daylight. They wanted to take him alive if possible so as to find out how the escape was planned, who else was involved, etc. They also said it is likely they will not take him back to the prison from which he escaped, but may put him in a supermax near where he was caught.

Yeah I heard that same ridiculous commentary from FNC Julie Banderas. I highly doubt he was shooting to wound… They shoot to stop. Unless it’s a sniper or something, but when in a foot chase, I have to assume he was shooting to stop, period. Aiming for center mass. Sweat’s just “lucky” he’s not dead, although he and a lot of others probably wish he was.

I was actually pretty annoyed she stated this shoot to wound crap several times and none of the others corrected her dribble, reinforcing the publics (BGI), claims that all these other police shootings were criminal because those officers should have been shooting to wound. Just silly. I don’t care if he was a marksman, firearm trainer – I bet none of the officers he trained ever heard him say shoot to wound!

Yeah, kind of sad when your average message board people know more about police procedure than these glamorous but seemingly empty-headed News Talkers do!

        • Yup, I agree with your statement. It’s a redicilous assumption/statement to suggest the LEO was taking a mercy shot, as though he’s playing a game of 8 ball ( calling his shots ) (yea ok.) He was shooting to put him in the ground.
In 35 years, I have ever seen a exceptional called shot by my swat team on a suicide, the deranged man was sitting in a chair outside in a hotel pking lot, the sniper was cleared to shoot, he did.. Shot the .38 revolver out of the guys hands.. It was a unbelievable shot & showed great restraint to boot. In today’s climate, we have to say things like shoot to stop, rather than, shoot to kill.

Yep. Then you have police with their cameras phones out taking photos I am sure they made a few bucks. But yeah, I understand completely what you’re saying.

Shame not shot and killed to spare us the expense of a trial and housing him in prison paying to feed him, cloth him and health care.

After being transferred to Albany Medical Center, he is now reported to be in critical condition, “Dr. Dennis McKenna said David Sweat was transported to Albany Medical Center on Sunday night. He said Sweat is being evaluated by a trauma team that will determine whether surgery is necessary.”
