Senator Ted Cruz Looks To Fine State Dept. For Withholding Iranian Report…

Ted Cruz 2(Via Washington Free Beacon) Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) is seeking to fine the State Department for illegally withholding the release of a key report on Iranian human rights abuses that was supposed to be released earlier this year, but was withheld, according to sources, in order to appease Iran as negotiations over its nuclear program approach a June 30 deadline.

The Obama administration was legally obligated to release a full report outlining the state of Iranian human rights by Feb. 25 but has so far declined to do so.

Cruz and other senators petitioned the State Department in May to comply with federal law compelling the report’s public release.

“That report was due by law on February 25,” Cruz told the Washington Free Beacon in an interview. “The Obama State Department simply ignored the law. They refused to produce the report. Months have gone by and they continue to refuse to produce the report.”  (read more)

If there are no consequences for not complying, it is not a law but simply a guideline.

The government is going to fine itself? Great.
How much you need? Ok, lets go make some more money.

Yeah, that will show them. I bet they won’t do that again. What a deterrent, err I mean joke. Just smoke an mirrors to make it look like they are doing something brought to you by cruz.
Until people start going to jail it will not change.

Kerry is too busy to do his job? This administration has been allowed to ignore so many laws, for such a long time. It must be okay with Congress, because they have chosen to do nothing about it.

Fine State? Good for you Cruz….yawn. So let’s say that all of the people needed to get this passion play off the ground agree to fine the tea-sippin’ petty Foggy Bottom crew – so what?
Hey Ted, you think this fine will come out of their wallets? You think the State rats will go scrounging through the couch cushions for spare change? Many long-time Staters are well-heeled and are playing the diplomatic game as it’s their way of doing what the idle rich d, but they ain’t gonna be dipping into their estate funds to pay the fine, you know that.
Now if instead the Congress passed a law that would make State foot-draggers go out and use toothbrushes to clean public toilets we might see some movement. That would probably be the most productive work we’ve squeezed out of State in a long tome too – think I’m gonna call my Senators, if they’ll take my calls.

It’s an election year – I’d have some reservations were they to say ‘water’s wet’. ‘Fining’ anyone in the government’s neat sounding until you figure outthat it doesn’t have anywhere near the effect on them a sit would were the fine imposed on someone who, let’s say’ works for a living. It’s just transferring taxpayer’s cash from the bureaucrat’s pocket we put it in to another bureaucrat’s pocket.

Ted go get Trey Gowdy to strut around like a banty rooster. That should scare them into submission. GOP is a pathetic group of losers now and will lie and betray at a wink. Not my kind of guys. Bought and paid for and two faced. I ignore all their weak half hearted calls for reform or justice. Who has Trey gotten in the face of more lawlessness as we have never seen. case closed Trey.
