Hoodrat charged after pretending to shoot NYPD officers in Harlem

A Brooklyn man terrorized two NYPD cops when he pulled alongside their squad car in Harlem and pointed what appeared to be a weapon at them to show his friends how easy it would be to “shoot a police officer,” authorities said.

Unique Johnson, 32, was driving a Chevy TrailBlazer at West 125th Street and Seventh Avenue at 9 p.m. Tuesday when he suspiciously slowed down and pulled up along the squad car’s right side, police said.

When the 26-year-old officer at the wheel peered over his shoulder, he witnessed Johnson with his arms extended, pointing what looked like a gun, police said.

I absolutely thought we were dead,” one of the cops said, according to NYPD officials.

….”Police said Johnson told investigators he pulled out his cellphone, which was wrapped in a dark blue protective cover, and pointed it like a gun, “as if I was shooting a police officer at an angle.”

One high-ranking police official said that given the charged atmosphere in the city, the situation risked becoming another flashpoint. In the aftermath of a grand jury declining to indict an officer in the apparent chokehold death of Eric Garner, as well as the apparently accidental shooting by officers in Brooklyn of Akai Gurley, there could have been more political furor if police took defensive action and shot the unarmed Johnson, the official said.”

A man with such poor judgement couldn’t possibly have been raised with a father. He was asking to be shot, whether he admits it or not.

Unique Johnson, 32, – sound like a character out of Lil’ Abner – “Moonbeam McSwine” “Stupefyin’ Jones” “Earthquake McGoon” Jubilation T. Cornpone

I’m at a loss for how reckless and cold blooded that was. I just can’t fathom how someone like that thinks.

And THAT fear of “political furor” can lead to a circumstance where a cop might (incorrectly) hesitate, resulting in his own death. Just another example of how the “Black Lives Matter” Fauxtests have negatively impacted our society. Those idiots have already inspired the deaths of 2 NYPD cops, and have added to a general atmosphere of reckless behavior among many other citizens.

This guy was lucky that all he got was “arrested”.

    • You’re right and it is takes is that split second of hesitation to cost a law enforcement officer his life. Unfortunately, the result of the mess by the Black Lives Matter and FTP bunch is going to result in just that. I’m praying that, regardless of the fear of fallout and political correctness these LEOs will always fall back on their training and NOT hesitate to defend themselves.

Prayers for the safety and well-being of all LEOs in our great country.

Every time I see a police car or think of the police, I say a little prayer for their safety along with our military.

Oh, you are SO right. I attended a CAPS meeting two days ago and shudder at the risk placed upon the heads of our officers. Many of the petty criminals feel no fear now and take much bigger chances to score a bigger take.

The one point reiterated throughout the decades spent in my community: Law enforcement starts with and ends with neighborhood involvement. Lots of street activity used to deter some of the crime, but these mobs of teens have no qualms about the dash-and-grab thefts. Get involved in reporting anything, anyone out of the ordinary. The LEOs can’t maintain order alone. Better to call it in than risk someone becoming a victim.

This is a bullshit story. They pull up near cops and do things like this ALL of the time. Hoping for cops to shoot them.

Police find no gun and they get a HUGE lawsuit settlement. They wanted those cops to open fire. Make no mistake. This was no ‘accident’ or ‘show’ for friends. They likely wanted to get shot to start another riot.

Well now he’ll be a UNIQUE “Johnson” in prison. God Bless NYPD I don’t know how they control themselves.

  9. And a completely ironic epilogue to the story – Unique was not so unique after all. He’s as much of a bonehead as the rest of the thugs he associates with. Nothing unique about him at all.

“Unique” Johnson—he must be a distant relative of Shithead Johnson. That’s a real name by the way, pronounced Shuh theed. LOL I’m dead serious

As I recall, there is an internet database of black first names. I remember some interesting takes on this there. Who would burden their child in such a way? How can the kid ever have a straight job? Bizarre first names are on par with “gauge” earrings, excessive piercings and tattoos above the neck for killing job opportunities.

I am NOT SORRY that I will not entrust business transactions to people who cannot at least look professional.

We just recently saw a Tosheba, I remember. Tosheba Somaliafra Hope who left her 3 kids in a car in the Walmart parking lot when she and her boyfriend were taken away by police for shoplifting. Tosheba!

Oh my. I was googling “tosheba” and was surprised by how many other black women there are with the name. And then I came across a hit for a Tionta Tosheba Ridely who is a sex offender. Women’s name, but a primarily male crime. Hmmm. Which one is he/she? I voted male. I was right.

I used to work in social services and saw all kinds of “unique” names. I’ve probably even mentioned this one before at CTH because it is my favorite. The (female) baby’s name was L-A.
          Pronounced Ladasha.

I wonder if Johnson’s action was preceded by him saying “Hey, watch this”.

Off topic, somewhat, but how much would it cost to outfit a police cruiser with bulletproof glass? The two NYC cops killed in December were sitting in their car. I’ve always thought that if I drove a cab I’d want bulletproof windows and windshield, a bulletproof barrier between front and back seats and a steel plate behind the front seats thick enough to stop a .44.

This idiot is lucky to be alive.
It also shows that cops are more hesitant maybe in defending themselves which will only cost them their lives one day.
