Whaaambulaance Alert – St Louis Rams Cut Michael Sam

As expected.  Somehow this will be Darren Wilson’s fault – watch.

Michael Sam(VIA ESPN) The St. Louis Rams released defensive end Michael Sam on Saturday, the team announced.

Sam’s efforts to become the first openly gay player in NFL history came up just short in a competition against undrafted rookie Ethan Westbrooks.

Westbrooks is one of nine defensive linemen to land a roster spot on the team.

Sam thanked the Rams for the opportunity in a series of tweets after the Rams made the announcement.  (link)

Sams got cut by the Rams, but I bet he gets picked up to play for some other team. If not this season, then maybe the next.

If there is, by some chance, to be a black man who has to get a world of attention for being a minority, of course he has to look like Eric Holder’s son. At least Eric raises his boys better than his golfing partner. With that said, he handled being cut with class and now here’s hoping he can latch onto a team if he’s good enough and we all can move on.

“now here’s hoping he can latch onto a team”

I hope not. You can find how much “class” he showed the first time around on youtube.

Oprah will start her own team for him and he can play all the positions. Her reality show that she can now use to promote Sam will be called “Oprah’s Balls”.

    ESPN inconsolable.

I am surprised that all programing on the MSM was not cancelled so that the libs could have another slugfest over one of their pet causes. Don Lemon must be en route to the Rams’ locker room to “bull rush” the coach and general manager. Who didn’t see this coming with a 7th round pick by the Rams most probably orchestrated by the NFL, one of the most politically correct organization in the country except when it comes to domestic violence. Had Sam been caught on tape assaulting his domestic partner and dragging him out of a hotel elevator, he would be a starter next week.

Sadly for the PC crowd that in the NFL it comes down to one thing: talent.

  10. Sharon says:

Well, now at least it’s safe to watch a Rams game without having to endure more shower updates. Idiots.

Coming to the LA Rams Locker Room, soon:

As of this time, all players are advised to turn in their soap-on-a-ropes, as they are no longer needed. Give them to Smitty or one of the equipment people.

Coming off his vacation of non-stop golf, fund raising and parties, Obama must be in a deep funk right now after staking whatever credentials he has left on Sam being a super star. It seems that a congratulatory phone call to the first gay draftee was more important than a statement honoring a fallen general in war. If we later find out that Gen. Greene was gay, then Obama will surely erect a war memorial, but until then – nothing.

Somehow I do not even care. Football is boring to me. I like Golf, Surfing, and Big Game Fishing.

Hey, you know, August was a tough month for Michaels in St. Louis. (too soon? .. nah)

  15. hoonan says:

He wasn’t that bad though. …pretty ok numbers. …for the preseason. .. but I am in no way am expert on what it takes to be in the NFL….so hopefully he can make a team somewhere eventually. …not because of what he does off the field but rather on it. …

  16. TeddyOn20th says:

Props to Michael Sam for staying classy after being cut.

  17. Moishe Pipik says:

Most of this isn’t really Michael Sam’s fault. It’s the media and sports writers and extreme-leftists trying to make something out of a non-event.

For his part, Michael Sam appears to conduct himself with dignity and not a lot of whining. I’ll criticize the media and blog excitement around him, but not the man himself.

  18. Chip Bennett says:

Michael Sam is and should be a non-story. Agenda-pushers claim that they want equality, but act otherwise. There will be equality when all that matters is how he plays on the field, and not with whom he sleeps.

ESPN are the biggest hypocrites in this matter, by playing up Sam not for his talent, but rather for his sexual preference. (A story about his shower habits? Really? Shameful.)

Sam is average at best. He compares in size to Dwight Freeney, but has never shown a glimpse of Freeney’s skill. Sam will end up a project player on some team’s practice squad – right where his talent level says he belongs.
