The Obama Dallas Immigration Visit – The Curious Case of Obama’s “Faith Leaders” and Obama’s “Faith-Based Groups”…

On July 9th 2014 President Obama made a visit to Dallas Texas for two reasons.   The first reason was fundraising, the second reason was to meet with Governor Rick Perry and “Faith Leaders” to discuss the border crisis.

As an outcome of the visit the following AP picture became the subject of much inquisition, humor and -as typical for the progressive side of the continuum- ridicule.  Liberals love to bash Texas Governor Rick Perry.

But the more important part of this picture was never actually spotlighted.  So we’ll turn on the Q-BEAM.

A wider angle of the picture would reveal a more integral player seated at the table.    A person mistakenly characterized by the media, but perhaps the most significant benefactor of the entire immigration roundtable.

obama dallas 6

In the lower left of this image you see a man named Kevin Dinnin.   Before we get into the curriculum vitae of Mr. Dinnin we first need to set the scene by using President Obama’s words to describe what was taking place.

After the meeting in the pictures President Obama took to the podium and delivered a pointed speech highlighting what had taken place, as well as describing who was involved.

You can find the transcript of his entire speech and the subsequent media Q&A here.  We are going to place excerpts below because it is important to understand the event as President Obama and his team would like you to believe:

obama dallas 8

President Obama – Hello, everybody. I just had a good meeting with Governor Perry, local officials, and faith leaders to talk about the steps that we have taken and that we need to take to address the humanitarian situation on the border. And I want to thank everybody who’s been involved for taking the time to talk to me.

It’s important to recognize two things. First, the surge of unaccompanied children, and adults with children, are arriving at one sector of the border, and that’s the Rio Grande Valley. Second, the issue is not that people are evading our enforcement officials. The issue is that we’re apprehending them in large numbers. And we’re working to make sure that we have sufficient facilities to detain, house, and process them appropriately, while attending to unaccompanied children with the care and compassion that they deserve while they’re in our custody.

[…]  The final point I’ll make is I just want to thank some of the faith-based groups that I just met with, as well as mayors, commissioners, local officials. Dallas has been incredibly compassionate in looking at some sights, some facilities in which they can accommodate some of these children. And I indicated in hearing the stories of churches that are prepared to not just make donations but send volunteers to help construct some of these facilities or fix them up, and their willingness to volunteer in providing care and assistance to these children — I told them thank you, because it confirmed what I think we all know, which is the American people are an incredibly compassionate people and when we see a child in need we want to care for them.  (link)

Again, the full text is here, but for the sake of understanding how President Obama was painting the scene you have a pretty good idea from above.   This is what Team Obama call the “optics” of the presidency.

A listener, or a media person writing in general terms about what they just witnessed would probably write an article like this, or perhaps like this.   Essentially giving you an impression similar to what you would believe having just watched the speech.

The impression intended would be that President Obama just met with a bunch of religious organizational heads, perhaps priests, pastors and ministers.  Along with “faith based” advocates who are helping to deal with the immediate needs of the illegal aliens, unaccompanied minors, and the larger “border crisis”.

You would be wrong.

To avoid my calling our President of The United States a liar, I will instead say President Obama is being intentionally obtuse, perhaps even deceitful.  Here’s why.

I’ll use a faith based media source to highlight the deception:

obama dallas 5

Religious Herald – Obama held the meeting in Dallas one day after he asked Congress for $3.7 billion in emergency spending for the crisis along the Texas/Mexico border. Border Patrol has apprehended more than 50,000 unaccompanied minors so far this year, many of them fleeing violence in Central America.

Chris Liebrum, who leads the Baptist General Convention of Texas’ disaster recovery program, characterized the meeting as a genuine roundtable discussion with “quite a bit of back and forth” dialogue, noting Obama called on each person to ask for his or her ideas.

[…]  Also attending the meeting was Kevin Dinnin, president of Baptist Child & Family Services, a BGCT-related agency providing care for children housed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Other participants included Arne Nelson, president of Catholic Charities of Dallas; Gov. Rick Perry; Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas; Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, who had volunteered the county to house up to 2,000 immigrant children; the mayors of Dallas and nearby Grand Prairie, and county and state officials.  (link)

So that’s who President Obama calls “faith leaders“.  But there’s a problem, none of them are religion based organizations.     None of them have churches.  None of them have congregations or parishioners’.

They are the heads of government funded non-profits.  Remember ACORN?  Same/Same.

They are taxpayer funded corporations who exist almost exclusively on government grants.   Despite the words “Baptist” and “Catholic”, these are NOT religious “faith based” groups.   The name Baptist and Catholic is only to give the appearance of “religion” and add a dose of “charity” to the appearances.

Back to the picture mentioned earlier and the aforementioned Mr. Kevin Dinnin.

obama dallas 6

kevin dinninWe recently stumbled upon Mr. Kevin Dinnin when we were looking around for the primary recipients’ of HHS Grants and we came upon the 2012 tax filings of BCFS, or more accurately BCFS EMD where Kevin Dinnin is the principal officer and CEO.  Paid at an annual salary of $477,799+

This one group alone makes ACORN seem small ball in comparison.

Two days before this meeting with President Obama, on 7/7/14 Mr. Dinnin was given a grant from Health and Human Services in the amount of $190,707,505.

Yes, that is over $190 million dollars just before he met with the President.  In 2014 alone BCFS has received almost $270 million.

BCFS 2014

These are staggering sums of money to just one of several taxpayer funded groups operating under the guise of “faith based organizations”.   The amounts awarded to these “faith based” groups in 2014 far exceeds the money ever given to the fraudulent social assistance group, ACORN.  And the 2014 grant amounts are EXPLODING in comparison to 2012 and 2013.

As previously listed here is the 2012 Tax Return for BCFS:

Catholic Bishops so far in 2014 $27 Million is another albeit smaller example, after receiving almost $70 million in 2012.

But the most staggering figure is what HHS has spent on Unaccompanied Minor Children (under grant code 93676) since the President’s 2012 Deferred action program began:

Oh boy, it’s another scam to divert taxpayer dollars to Obama supporters’ front groups. I’ll bet very little of the grant money is going to actual relief efforts. Go ahead, Sundance, call him a liar because that’s what he is. Joe Wilson was right.

This is heartbreaking. We have families up here in the n.e. that are suffering…living in trailers, logging timber, plowing snow, doing odd jobs just to get by. NO JOBS. And then you have these yahoos. They are nothing more than the white-skinned suits version of ACORN. I’m disgusted. The Catholic Church won’t get another dime from me.

Ellie, the article states that “Catholic Charities” is not connected with the Catholic Church. Please re-read the article.

I grew up in the Catholic Church, my cousin a nun, my first job at the local rectory. While it is true that Catholic Charities is not the Catholic Church they are very closely aligned and a wide swath of socialism runs through both. Back in the 60’s most clergy were adamantly & vocally anti Communist, but you don’t find that anymore. The young generation of Catholic clergy don’t remember the Cold War any better than the young generation at large. Seems history will have to repeat itself in order to adequately inform the young about what we used to call “the evils of communism”

Ellie, I don’t give these groups any $ anymore & you shouldn’t either.

You’re right Mary. Often, the neo-catholic churches have pamphlets in the back of the Church requesting money for social justice catholic groups. Do not give to those groups. Many are funding abortion in third countries. Pray that one day, the catholic Church will be restored and expunged of those communist priests and bishops.

This is a Mexican crime cartel asset theft and conversion scheme having a partner in the White House, involving brazen misappropriation of U.S. taxpayer money to beneficiaries that are coyotes operating scams called “faith based organizations” servicing the needs of illegal aliens similar to what would be an “underground railroad”, tasked with importation and transfer shipment of illegal aliens to sanctuary destinations inside the U.S.. The border patrol doesn’t have to apprehend the incoming illegal aliens because now the border patrol is acting as a reception service, “railroad conductors” and travel agents for the incoming flood of illegal aliens who are handed off to the government funded “faith based organization” operators of the illegal alien receiving centers / wash stations / rest stops, with transfer shipment travel providers of course being DHS which is the paramilitary enforcer of the covert shipment domestic routes of the underground railroad engaged in human trafficking of illegal aliens. This is not any sort of bona fide “humanitarian aid” or “faith based” effort but is in actuality criminal racketeering in support of human trafficking, sponsored unwillingly by the taxpayers and operated under color of law by corrupt government and their corrupt La Raza affiliated service provider / partners in the U.S. as well as Mexico.

The purpose of this conference is to:
      to share and apply Catholic Social Teaching on migration;
      to share information on domestic and international issues affecting the life and dignity of immigrants, migrants, refugees, trafficking victims and other vulnerable people on the move;
      to prepare and organize participants to carry the message on these migration issues both to Congress in Washington, D.C., and to constituencies and political leaders in their own communities;
      to deepen the capacity of diocesan and parish leaders to serve, minister to, and advocate for immigrants, migrants, refugees, trafficking victims, and other people on the move by providing skill-building workshops, and by sharing strategies, best practices, materials and activities that are useful at the local level;

Is it true that the GOP could never win a Presidential election without winning Texas.

    • justfactsplz says:

I’ve heard that too and I don’t think it has ever happened without winning Texas. I wonder if Governor Perry knows the “faith based” organizations are bogus?

    • Sentient says:

Unless the system is changed – either by amendment or by widespread enactment (and SCOTUS approval of) the National Popular Vote bill – it takes 270 electoral votes to win (or a deadlocked vote followed by a win in the House). is a good place to look at historical results. Nixon won in 1968 without Texas. Toggle between 1964 and 1972 for some good humor. Libs assume that if they can win Texas they’ll own the presidency forever. Forever’s a mighty long time. Today’s issue will fade – like “Tippecanoe and Tyler, too”. We’ve alternated between the two main parties for 150 years. Reports of the death of the Republican Party are premature.

      • justfactsplz says:

Thanks for that information. I learned from that. I just knew that winning certain states helped one win. I was thinking about electoral votes.

NOT if they don’t change their ways. I have always voted Republican. No more! They are just as bad, if not worse than the Dems. They are “enablers”, who, by their inaction, are enabling the Dems to bring down America. At this point, I would rather vote for the Dems., who are at least “up front” about what they are doing, not some loathsome Rep., trying to sneak around in the background while pretending to be “For America”. Ugh! Truly slimey!

Every month in 2013 Texas health and human services rec’d a supplemental $4,500,000 (monthly) for refugee cash assistance.

Every month in FY 2014 that amount has jumped to $9 million (monthly) for supplemental refugee cash assistance.

If you had 10,000 illegals per month – that would be $900 cash per illegal (initial assistance money). That’s just cash assistance and doesn’t include all other assistance like housing, clothing, food, etc etc.

Quite an incentive to keep coming.

If you go to this site and use the search function – but only put “Texas” in as recipient you’ll find hundreds and hundreds of billions provided by HHS. It’s unreal.

Having been a Baptist for 14 years in the past, I know the individual churches used to be autonomous and only loosely belonged to a convention of churches, i.e., Southern Baptist, American Baptist, Conservative Baptist, etc. In those days this type of work would have gone under the “missionary” category in the budget and would NEVER have taken government monies as they didn’t wish to be beholden to government. No more, I guess. Sad.

And, yes, children pull at the heart strings. That’s why the media is playing up that aspect, although they aren’t playing up the bodies of little children and adults found out in the desert, having been abandoned by the coyotes that these “faith-based” organizations seem to have no problem with. Viewing the invasion as “opportunity,” all these religious groups can offer is church services which are, of course, not mandatory. Witnessing to faith in Christ for salvation is most likely not allowed in any facility run by the government. That’s how “faith” sells out, is co-opted, compromised, and it makes me ill.

We give immense amounts of foreign aid to these countries. Their governments waste the monies. I guess the Obama Administration and their cohorts from both parties in Congress has that in common with these worthless foreign governments. They all love to waste and misuse our tax monies…and misuse of the American people’s compassion and charity.

  15. Yakmaster says:

Any Protestant or Catholic GOVERNMENT-funded non-profit, i.e., “charity” is a BASTARDIZATION of the the word. CHARITY is NOT the transference of that which has been forcibly taken from one multitude and bestowed on another. Christ articulated the difference between personal benevolence and legal duty in scripture.
I am offended by the prostitution of Christianity by both the government and individuals whose purpose is either personal gain (outrageous salaries/power) or political agendas. Such cynical profiteering of Christianity should sicken congregants of all denominations.

    • waltherppk says:

These faux “faith based organizations” likely don’t have any “cathedral” or physical “church location” as a headquarters that has an actual street address with a structure, but instead are existing like a “fictitious corporate entity” that is an empty storefront like a billboard at most. If the organization was headquartered at an actual church, an angry taxpayer would burn it to the ground.

It is way too big to have been concealed from those with the responsibility to represent us.

Yes. The same bunch that threatened their own contract medical staff not to discuss the horrible state of people they were charged to take care of. Lice, psychotic children, mentally handicapped children, measles, flu, etc. The took their phones away so there would be no photographic evidence. I think the prisons and lunatic asylums have been emptied and shipped north. People I know that have seen the hordes in person in the valley say a lot of women with mentally handicapped children who want them to go to “school” in the US which of course is extremely expensive for US school districts mandated to do everything imaginable to raise them for these people. It is pathetic and sad and we are going to be bankrupted.

  17. boutis says:

The inflow is not mostly children but family units. The media has helped the White House and these crooks hide this. By harping on unaccompanied children dumped by their parents AND THEIR OWN GOVERNMENTS rather than adult men and women with numerous children they have hidden what is happening. Having a child with you is a golden ticket to services, money, housing, health care, all of it. In the past kids were left where they were in Mexico and Central America where they were raised by family members who stayed with the funds sent back from illegal workers making money in the US. It was cheap to raise a kid there. The illegals in the US do not make enough to raise a kid in the US. Now they don’t have to do so. They get it gratis thanks to the amnesty racket and the Democrats with a big side of graft for the scam. If they cannot get the freebies they will mostly go home. These are not immigrants wishing to become citizens. If the freebies dry up they will head south and give their own governments a hard time about their living conditions and lack of opportunities.

  18. dsb steve says:

Rick Perry is either an idiot or a traitor for appearing with those people.

  19. waltherppk says:

This humanitarian aid for illegal aliens scam is nothing else but yet another taxpayer ripoff, graft and corruption scheme, that is a multi billion dollar “stimulus package” meant to stimulate and subsidize even more illegal immigration. An invasion scale of numbers of illegal aliens are openly violating a national border that only exists now as an archaic idea about a line on a map that is a geographical boundary for what used to be an actual republic enforcing its border in the past. But that former sovereign republic is presently a land being sold out to the Mexican drug cartel by domestic cartel partner thugs and drug cartel “partner coyote” enablers who pretend to be a legitimate government for that republic which is being sold out and harmed by that same graft and corruption enriching all the criminals who are conspiring in the crime. What is occurring is a treasonous dereliction of duty, criminal conspiracy, racketeering and triple header malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance that is one magnificently corrupt criminal racketeering scheme. The magnitude of this scandal of government corruption as a brazen criminally negligent threat to national security and public health and safety is historically unprecedented.

  25. Peter says:

I don’t like Catholic Charities doing this any more than any one else. I don’t like that CC gets a lot of govt contracts to provide various social services. I think they should just do whatever social work the laity’s contributions allow.

This is important, however: All Catholic Charities entities are indeed Catholic social service agencies under the authority of the local bishop. Do not say they are not Catholic. Our Catholic Charities in IL got out of the business of adoption after bullying by Pat Quinn et al after the homosexual “marriage” law passed. Catholic Charities will not adopt out children to homosexuals. They are also fighting the HHS mandate.

I cannot speak for the Baptist agencies.

  26. Thank you for the clarification, Peter. That is true. It is still a scam and a crock, of course, but these organizations are, in fact, Catholic. The Texas Baptist Convention, I think, is somewhat comparable to an Archdiocese, though I imagine the “authority” (over local churches and pastors) part is quite a bit looser.

This goes back to the medieval and monarchist eras when Church was the State, vice versa. Obama is through power mongering and abuse of tax levies attempting to control the Church. The U.S. Constitution was designed to prevent this kind of power endemic in monarchist Britainnic where the cardinals and kings held sway over villages and the public. Islam is still back in medieval times. Obama would like to take Christianity back too. These are DARK DAYS, indeed. This is theft by religious institutions hand in hand with government, robbing the villagers blind. One teddy bear for you (the poor), ten thousand trinkets for me (Church). This is what gives religious institutions a bad name, and is a pox on true faith.
