The Kentucky primary race is a week away.   Matt Bevin vs. Mitch McConnell

Mitch McConnell(Via Politico)  James Murdoch and News Corp’s PAC have both made donations to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s reelection campaign, according to his most recent campaign filing report.

Murdoch, son of News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch, donated $2,600 to McConnell’s primary and $2,400 to his general election fund. According to the report, he’s donated $5,000 to both funds in this election cycle to date.

The younger Murdoch, who is currently deputy COO of 21st Century Fox, was long seen as the heir apparent of News Corp until he fell out of favor after the 2011 News of the World phone-hacking scandal in Britain. Lachlan Murdoch, James’ older brother, was named to top spots on the boards of News Corp and 21st Century Fox in March, suggesting that he is in line to take over the media giant.

News Corp PAC also gave $5,000 to McConnell’s general election fund, according to the filing.

McConnell - Power

This is far from the first time Murdoch or News Corp have made campaign contributions. In fact, James Murdoch has donated quite a bit to Democrats in the past few months, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). But, there’s also a $20,000 donation to the National Republican Congressional Committee. (link)
