Tuesday Open Thread – March 5th

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Morning, all! Got to get moving, but it’s a slow start today. I’m well and truly sick of Winter. Bring on the global warming! My offering this morning: Obama’s Thirteen Words:

    http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/03/obamas-thirteen-words.php

Fast forward to 2013, and President Obama’s State of the Union, where he said, talking about global warming: “Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and floods – all are now more frequent and intense.” That statement was demonstrably false, as SEPP’s The Week That Was points out:

The claim is so factually challenged that it is a wonder it got by the White House staff. Looking at the weather stations that have 80 years of data shows heat records were set in the 1930s, the Palmer drought index shows the 1930s and the 1950s were hotter and dryer with the 1930’s dust bowl lasting a decade. … Increased floods are not supported by the data, and, according to the National Interagency Fire Center, wildfires are declining.

Don’t forget, Barry-boy is the kind of person who would has no problems faking support for his causes. I say keep an eye on who’s around when a wildfire happens. Chances are, you’d find a lib with matches.

Global warming, global cooling, global warming, global cooling… And so it goes. It is the way of Mother Nature. From what little I know it sounds as though we are trending toward the global cooling phase of things.

I’ve seen and heard about a couple groups doing this here in H-town. Which is already infested with Queen Sheila, Al Green and their ilk. I’ll start paying a little more attention and see what I can dig up on the interwebs. The good news is that most of them are coming to already liberal big cities and not so much to the country where those things below live. 😆

    Mornin all-
FL hs student suspended for wrestling gun away from another on a school bus who was aiming it point blank threatening to shoot another. Parents should pull hero student from school and sue the town to pay for costs of another school. Unbelievable, that administrators can not access a scene properly & realize hero saved not only life of threatened student but all on the entire bus!!

Is this how undocumented immigrants are monitored?
    http://www.news-journalonline.com/article/20130304/NEWS/303049972/1040?p=1&tc=pg

“Bondsman can’t find immigrant charged in traffic death”

“A DeLand man was granted a $35,000 bail on DUI manslaughter and other charges despite an arrest report’s warning, in all capital letters, that he might flee — and that’s exactly what he did, an attorney said.”

“The second page of the charging affidavit against Lopez warns in all capitals: “LOPEZ IS NOT A US CITIZEN AND IS A POTENTIAL FLIGHT RISK.”

“It was not Lopez’s first problems with the law. In 2006 he pleaded guilty to careless driving and having no valid driver’s license. Adjudication was withheld in both cases. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to not having a valid driver’s license, was found guilty and served three days in custody. In 2010, Lopez pleaded guilty to no driver’s license and was found guilty ”

“Brown said he has been trying to get an arrest warrant issued but with dockets being full and everyone busy has been unable to do so.

Brown said he has contacted ICE and Homeland Security and they said they need a nationwide warrant to be able to help capture him.”

The bottles that could be EATEN once you’ve drunk what’s inside
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2104803/WikiCells-Bottles-EATEN-youve-drunk-whats-inside.html

    WikiCells: Bottles That We Eat
    Abstract:
“WikiCells are novel edible forms for eating and drinking transportable foods and drinks without plastic. Useful as foods and drinks for restaurants, homes, and offices, for delivery to and purchase in stores, and for production and delivery to places in the world where the recycling and disposal of plastic produces a major human and environmental hazard–WikiCells emerged out of an idea funded initially by the Wyss Institute in David Edwards ES20 class (specifically realized in the design of the recently commercial CellBag), and, later, a design exhibition at Le Laboratoire in Paris with French designer Francois Azambourg and Wyss Institute Founding Director Don Ingber. From the early inspiration of the biological cell, the technology has since evolved as a food product technology within LaboGroup, the commercial incubator of ArtScience Labs, with initial commercial sales and development in the FoodLab. WikiCells consist of a natural food membrane held together by electrostatic forces and containing a liquid, emulsion, foam, or solid food substance possibly within an edible or biodegradable shell. They can be produced by consumers with a WikiCell Machine in a practically inexhaustible variety of membranes and forms and with a wide range of food and drinks. WikiCells use special membrane technology that permits the fabrication of thin delicious membranes with significant water diffusional resistance and adjoined shells that allow for stability of the WikiCells over long periods of time.”

Lawmaker demoted for lewd ‘snake under my desk’ invitation to teen girl
    http://www.examiner.com/article/lawmaker-demoted-for-lewd-snake-under-my-desk-invitation-to-teen-girl
”A Connecticut member of the state House of Representatives has been demoted and has apologized for what many considered a lewd and inappropriate remark made to a teen girl during a committee meeting.”
    “What happened was this:
“During a legislative hearing, a 17-year-old girl was telling legislators how she had overcome her fear of snakes by working at the Connecticut Science Center. A female legislator noted that it appeared that state money had been well spent, asked if there were any questions, then acknowledged Rep. Hewett.”
“And if you’re bashful,” he laughed, “I’ve got a snake sitting under my desk here.”
“And now Hewett says his words were taken out of context. “Taken out of context” appears to be the new coverall or catchall in political speak for just about any verbal faux pas, gaffe, or ill-delivered phrasing. But how could his words not have been deemed as somehow inappropriate? Truly, in what context would saying something so suggestive been in context? Perhaps if Rep. Hewett had immediately produced a actual reptile from beneath his desk?”
“Or did Hewett somehow get it into his head that just because the legal age of consent in Connecticut is 16, he could get away with such a remark?”

Er I just had a thought after turning on TV seeing shepard smith positively giddy over how high the stockmarket is @ 14275 and his guest was saying this is the time to invest. what if all this stockpiling of bullets, armored trucks and more taxes is anticipation of not just inflation & police state but the stock market crashing worse than ever because of all the money fed has pumped in and I suspect false earnings reportings courtesy of
Obama. No way these numbers can sustain themselves based on everything else going on in world; I think the market has become a giantic ponzi scheme.

There’s a huge amount of activity that is generated by the computer-driven purchases. Some years ago they had put some speed bumps on it, but according to stuff Ann Barnhardt was explaining and publishing on about a year or more ago, it’s guaranteed to so completely distort financial reality that it makes the stock market almost totally irrelevant, and basically just a hole to dump money in until the music stops.

They could not get close enough to pull that poor guy (‘s body) out of the Florida sinkhole because it was too dangerous and yet someone just told me that they backed up several dump trucks, filled with debris, to the edge of the hole and dumped. I believe no REAL attempt was made to save that poor guy. Told a friend of mine, were that my brother I’d be repelling into the hole to get him eventhough I have very little experience with repelling. G-d give that family strength!
