Yesterday, another break-in and robbery of a house outlined in the Journal News Map. This is the second such burgalry targeting homes with firearms outlined in the short-sighted map. It is only a matter of time before the financial liability of the newspaper, comes into the courtroom. So, Journal News makes up an excuse to remove it….
NEW YORK – Ed Tagliaferri, the executive vice president of DKC Media, forwards this statement from Janet Hasson, Publisher of the Journal News, the New York state-based newspaper that published the “gun map” featuring the names and addresses of gun owners in Westchester and Rockland counties:
“With the passage this week of the NYSAFE gun law, which allows permit holders to request their names and addresses be removed from the public record, we decided to remove the gun permit data from lohud.com at 5 pm today.
While the new law does not require us to remove the data, we believe that doing so complies with its spirit. For the past four weeks, there has been vigorous debate over our publication of the permit data, which has been viewed nearly 1.2 million times by readers. One of our core missions as a newspaper is to empower our readers with as much information as possible on the critical issues they face, and guns have certainly become a top issue since the massacre in nearby Newtown, Conn. Sharing as much public information as possible provides our readers with the ability to contribute to the discussion, in any way they wish, on how to make their communities safer.
We remain committed to our mission of providing the critical public service of championing free speech and open records.” (read more)
Too little. Too late. Completely irrelevant.
Their budget for legal expenses is being increased. Their liability insurance company has been leaning on them to try to limit the potential exposure.

Yup. This is purely a risk management decision. Actuarials and Attorneys have identified the financial risk….. the ideology never extends past the line at the bank.

Maybe those stupid progs should look into the witness protection program and see if there are any openings, and study hard for the next few years and see if they can’t find a clue. Oh wait a minute ….they aren’t witnesses …..so I guess they are just SOL.

Note to self for owner of parent company of paper….add clause to all future employee contracts that would force them to sign over their homes & life savings in case of a debacle such as outing gun permit subscribers names/addresses if they ever make such a depraved & idiotic decision again.

Proof positive as to why the “permit” requirement is unconstitutional. Requiring a “permit” is an infringement to the right of self-defense of the individual…and you can see what that requirement did. Government gun laws do not, for the most part, help people…it mostly reduces individual rights and liberties.

I’ve accepted the fact that people are followers (Dems, Repubs, atheists, Christians, Trayvon supporters, etc.), but what gives these publishers the right to infringe on somebody else privacy to let others see what contents they have in their homes? It’s almost as if they don’t see anything wrong with it because they are somehow justifying that they are protecting kids. sickening

No, they’re dems, Lou. They don’t give a shite. “They” are right, gun-owners are wrong. Period.

I do not know of a single conservative, republican who is anti-gun or in favor of more gun laws, period at least that I know. Every stinking liberal. progressive, free thinker hates anything to do with guns, hunting, proper game management, responsible environmentalism (like most farmers, timberland owners have practiced for a very long time) and I know a lot of both sides.
I am hated silently and vociferously in public at times because I own guns am CCW and will use them to protect my family, home, country from tyranny and gov’t gone wild. NOBODY should know my business nor what I posses inside our home.
The vast majority of the idiots are brainwashed dupes that are just too lazy or stupid to think for themselves. WeeWeed pretty stated it perfectly!

I hope advertisers stop advertising in that pitiful excuse for a newspaper; and that people stop subscribing to it. When they lose revenue it will be the ultimate lesson for them.

That’s wonderful. I’ve met only one malamute and he was wonderful. We had a Siberian Husky for 13 years–he was wonderful, too. Scritchety your dog’s ears for me–our Sierra King left us 2 years ago–boy, they leave tracks all over a person’s heart!.

They are really wonderful dogs. Mine is 11 years old and still going strong. She basically owns the yard. When she goes outside to play all the squirrels high tail it out of there lol 🙂

rmactsc, I did realize that I used the word “wonderful” three times in my comment just above…and I decided to leave ’em. These dogs of ours are worth three wonderfuls in one paragraph…then when I saw you used it again here…well, that just confirms it. 😉

Their last ditch effort to advertisers will be that 1.2 million visited their site, conveniently forgetting to mention that 1.19 million voiced hatred of their actions..

I am just amazed as I watch. The “debate” about whether there is or is not a second amendment. Good Grief. Here we go again. Maybe they can try and appease them by offering armed guards in schools? Sad.

I’m still waiting for Thomas Nelson Publishers, Zondervan, and Lockman Foundation to come out with “modern” translations of the Constitution.
New Revised Standard Constitution, New International Constitution, New American Standard Constitution.
I mean really. That 18th century American English is sooooo old and archaic, who can possibly understand it?
The Living Constitution. The New Living Constitution. The New Century Constitution.
Now we’re getting somewhere.
The Gender-Inclusive Max Lucado-branded Life Study Constitution. The Expanded Constitution.
No, I’m not cynical. I’m actually surprised that a “modern” so-called translation hasn’t yet happened.

Woodrow Wilson was singing the same song a hundred years ago.
Those who are aggravated by our Constitution actually don’t usually claim the problem is with the “18th century American English” as much as they reveal themselves to simply not like the message that is transmitted or the foundation that it stands on.
Woodrow Wilson said this during his 1912 presidential campaign,
Later in the same speech he mocked those who resisted this idea and said,

Speaking as someone who had an elderly Mother on the map. We breathed a little sigh of relief when we heard the news. But ithe map was up for 27 days giving many people the opportunity to download it and screen cap certain neighborhoods. I spent the morning drilling holes in my Mother’s windows for security pins and installed a “door club” on her exterior doors, so no one can kick in her doors. Next is security window film on her rear windows. Thanks Janet Hasson – rot in hell!

So proof that the News Journal was nothing but a shoddy paper with hack reporting…out of 170000 listed permits less than 1/4 of the names and addresses were even current. Good thing I guess for most of the listed individuals but not for those that were robbed.
