Well, his political future is off to a jump start.   Can’t say the brilliant progressive electorate in Pennsylvania didn’t know what they were voting for with this Democrat.

ALBURTIS, Pa. – A teenager elected to a Pennsylvania borough council seat  took office a few hours after pleading guilty to stalking and escape  charges.  Nineteen-year-old Kyle Bower was sworn in Wednesday night as the newest  member of the Alburtis Borough Council.

Bower, a 19-year-old Democrat said before the November election that he wouldn’t accept the $1,875-per-year position because of his legal trouble.

Earlier in the day Bower was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to  a pair of misdemeanors for throwing a brick through his ex-girlfriend’s window  and slipping out of handcuffs during an alcohol-related arrest.

At his court appearance Bower told Lehigh County Judge Robert Steinberg he’s  a changed man since he stopped drinking. He says he’s pursuing his General  Educational Development diploma after dropping out of high school.  Bower still faces case on charges including resisting arrest, escape and  public drunkenness in neighboring Berks County.  (article)

More About This……

“You’ve been given a great responsibility here,” council President Steven Hill told Bower. “Do the best you can and make the borough proud of you.”

“I will to the best of my ability,” Bower, dressed in a white shirt and tie, softly replied.

At least one person attended the meeting with the hopes that Bower would reconsider accepting the position.

“It’s a shame,” Tanya Miller, 40, said.

Bower, following the 10-minute meeting attended by as many media members as others from the public, conferred with his father before declining to speak to reporters.

“People will think what they want to think,” he said before walking out of the meeting room. “No comment.”

Hill said his board hopes Bower “does the job he was expected to do.”

Judge Robert L. Steinberg said much the same Wednesday morning when sentencing Bower to two years’ probation. Bower pleaded guilty to escape and stalking, both misdemeanors.

Bower admitted slipping out of handcuffs and escaping from police following a 2010 arrest for buying alcohol as a minor and throwing a brick through his ex-girlfriend’s window this summer and damaging cars owned by her family members.

“There are probably going to be doubting Thomases,” the judge said. “But you can prove them wrong by staying clean and sober.”

Bower told Steinberg that alcohol has been the root of his problems. He said he’s now sober and receiving treatment. Steinberg stopped the court proceeding to test Bower for drugs and alcohol. Bower came up clean.

“I really am a different person,” Bower said.

Bower told Steinberg he’s working as a cook at Bear Creek Mountain Resort and Conference Center in Longswamp Township and trying to earn his General Educational Development diploma. Bower’s attorney, Michael Stump, said Bower has been treated for depression since he was 15. He classified his client as a recovering alcoholic who has been drinking since he was 17.

Bower still faces a third case in which he’s charged with resisting arrest, escape, giving police false identification, public drunkenness and buying alcohol as a minor in Berks County.  (continue reading)

So the political future of this kid in the Democrat party is off to a great start.   Get drunk as a Kennedy, stalk creepily like a Weiner, avoid arrest like a Clinton, then lie like a Pelosi to voters before the election by promising not to take the oath of office.   Being a drunk, Kyle Bower will fit right in amid the other shameless politicians.
