There’s something almost, well, laughable about how the professional political class stick to their only frame of reference, ‘history’, when it comes to the modern insurgency of non-political candidate Donald Trump.

This example is Politico, but the same has been written by scores of other political writers:

A well-informed and ‘outside-the-beltway’ follower of current political events laughs at the “lagging in the polls” part. I digress…. “media-polls“, it’s all the Pavlovian Political Class know to guide them.

Trump has solidly added Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio to his column. Virginia is a “more than likely“, and the rest of 2012 are all solid.
Essentially, with 80 days to go – a confident Trump, without grand or indulgent prose, is doing what all exceptionally professional business leaders do.
Look at the horizon, create and make adjustments to the needed five year plan, and establish the business direction.
The leader of the lumberjacks can’t guide the team from the ground, it all looks the same. Get above the forest, look at the direction of the cuts needed, and give instructions on which target removal leads you in the correct direction.
In essence, begin with the end in mind. As such, Trump is not only campaigning to win, he’s also looking at the needed leverage in January 2017 when he does win.
What good does it do to win the contest only to have found yourself having forgotten to plan for what to do in victory.
Victory is not just the election. Victory is attaining results from the successful election.
Results are achieved by holding leverage on day #1. The UniParty is the enemy. The UniParty. The DC UniParty. All members within that UniParty are considerations.
Where has there been horrible news for Trump’s primary UniParty adversary lately? What UniParty adversary is weakened by recent home-state polling?
Yeah, Ted Cruz.
Beware the penguin:

Donald Trump campaigning in Austin Texas is like spinning the football after crossing the goal line. It doesn’t change the value of the score, it sends a message to the team you just scored against… Cruz is severely compromised; Rick Perry can beat him if he chooses to primary the rat fink. Trump’s appearance diminishes Cruz on his home turf.
Mandate stamp collected. Giddy up. Next stop…

Integrity and living up to your word still matters with Jackson Mississippi cat fish farmers. A person who, like Trump, sees beyond race. A person who understands the “just, give me a chance” request made to the constituency who listen to the cat fish farmer.

These political writers, political pundits and political pollsters need to stop thinking like politicos and start thinking like America-first business titans. Relationships equal leverage; leverage equals ability to accomplish goals.
