MILLINGTON, Tenn. (FOX13) – Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a body that was found in a burning pickup truck Thursday afternoon on Mudville Road in Millington.
A sheriff spokesman said a witness saw a pick-up on fire just after 4 p.m. in the 7800 block of Mudville Road.

When deputies and first responders arrived they found a body inside the pickup truck, which was found down in a ditch.
It is unclear if the body is male or female.  The body was found in the passenger side of the pickup truck, SCSO spokesman Chip Washington said. They are considering this as suspicious.
The Millington Fire Department extinguished the pickup truck fire in 10 minutes.
Mudville Road expected to be closed for a few hours as investigators reconstruct the scene.
Washington said he is unsure if the body was dead before the pickup caught fire.
This scene is reminiscent of what happened to Jessica Chambers in Panola County, Miss., but investigators are not drawing any conclusions or connections to that case. The pickup was found burning in a ditch on the side of this road, investigators are looking into every possibility at this point.
“For now we are considering this a suspicious situation,” Washington said.
Neighbors say they could see smoke from the burning pickup for miles.
“Millington Fire Department came, put the fire out in a few minutes,” Washington said. “As they were checking things they found a body inside the truck.”
The truck was found in a ditch off the side of the road with what appears to be a man slumped over on the passenger side.
Authorities say they can’t tell how the body got there.
“It’s pretty well charred and from what I understand it’s going to be awhile before they can determine the identity of the victim,” Washington said.
