Trying to cut through the fog and chatter it appears the Carnival Magic cruise ship has been denied entry to Mexico.

….And therein lies the reason for governmental obfuscation and media avoidance of the entire episode.
The political risk is obvious.
Both Belize, and now Mexico, have denied entry for a U.S. cruise ship carrying a healthcare worker who treated Patient Zero Thomas Duncan – yet U.S. President Obama refuses to shut down inbound air passengers from West Africa.
If you take the situation at face value the political argument is that Obama cares less for the risk of his citizenry than the Prime Minister of Belize and the President of Mexico.
The position of Mexico and Belize undermines the position of President Obama.
So what’s going on?
The U.S. government, and Carnival Cruise lines, are stating the cruise passenger, and her husband, are self-quarantined and exhibiting no symptoms. The Belize government has stated a divergent set of facts, at least initially.  Belize was saying the cruise passenger WAS exhibiting Ebola symptoms.
The Belize position is supported by the fact an emergency airlift plane, sent by the U.S. State Dept., was waiting for the passenger transfer in Belize. Why would the U.S. have an air ambulance at PGIA if the passenger was not exhibiting symptoms?
The simple answer could be that AFTER the U.S. CDC changed their position, and a domestic travel ban was put into place, they then needed to “round up” all of the potentially exposed healthcare workers. [Key Words “could be“].
Sending the air ambulance to Belize seems like an extreme measure for the U.S. government to take just to secure an employee of Presbyterian Hospital – – However, given the political risks of bungling the entire Ebola episode/outbreak it is, well, plausible.
Again, unfortunately this all comes down to political optics.
The bottom line is that a Cruise Ship with 4,633 passengers and crew are now en route back to Galveston Texas without making any stops. The ship is scheduled to arrive on Sunday.
Both Carnival Cruise Lines and the U.S. government have a vested interest in dissuading any fear of the Ebola risk carried on this ship. You can obviously -and easily- work out the myriad of consequences, were it evidenced a captive audience of 4,633 people held an exposure risk.
The “contact tracing” for passengers flowing from the Cruise Liner, and disbursing all over the country, is, well, an almost impossible task for isolation and/or quarantine. The only reasonable option would be to quarantine the entire vessel for 21 days “in place”. Can you just imagine the media frenzy if such a situation were proposed/initiated?
….And that’s why this situation must be downplayed at all costs.

It’s bad enough that Belize and Mexico appear more concerned with their citizenry against the backdrop a lack of the same, in addition to missteps, bungles, and a lack of strategic planning, from President Obama. Add to that mix the political backlash from an Ebola Ship and, well, again you can see the exponential crisis. FUBAR.
Hence the U.S. administration and the water-carrying media will do everything in their power to avoid discussing the myriad of problems from this international incident…. um, or SNAFU,… you pick.
[*Footnote* – Ironic that Mexico does all it can to compromise the U.S. border with thousands of illegal aliens flowing over, yet when one U.S. citizen is in need of assistance – Mexico slams their ports closes and says “go spit”! ]
