Friday Open Thread – November 16th

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

The Islamic Society of Tulsa operates the Masjid Al-Salam Mosque, For the upcoming annual interfaith youth tour the mosque has advised the young girls who may attend:

** Your cooperation is requested in dressing modestly at the Masjid Al-Salam Mosque.

Women are requested to wear long skirts or loose slacks and a head covering such as a hat or headscarf. Men and women will enter separately and be seated on the floor.

    Deception. Amazing.

Yet libs and even some conservatives tell me how paranoid and crazy I am, like Oklahoma has to worry about Islam.

      • michellc says:

BTW any parent who allows their middle school or high school age child to attend this event should be charged with child abuse.

Here are the 3 tour stops and registration is $5 and includes bus transportation, kosher snack and t-shirt. How I would love to be able to someway slip in and replace their kosher snack with bacon wrapped sausages.

couple of years ago I was looking for the old song “He” done by Al Hibbler. If you’re older you should remember it. Anyways, while looking for it I saw that there were quite a few ppl that did their own arrangement. I clicked on this one below. I took the time to watch .. by chance. Although this woman does not have the best voice, she makes up for it with the feeling she put into the song and THAT brought a couple of tears to my eyes. Just an ordinary woman …. connecting with God. Hope you like.

    • stellap says:

I haven’t heard that in years. Thanks for posting it!

        You are welcome, stellap.

re: lyrics … “tho … it makes him sad …. to see the way we live … he’ll always say … I forgive”

^ I’m glad God will forgive, cause I can never forgive Obama and all those corrupt that surround HIM, and ALL past and present corrupt politicians that have ruined this once great nation. That I cannot forgive. EVER.

    • cajunkelly says:

A tearful morning to be sure. :( Tears of prayer, tears of fear, tears of sadness, tears of joyful thanks…see below.

Dear God, be with your people this day.

American in the Age Of Obama:

It appears that the lawmakers could not understand how the intelligence officials concluded that “the Mohammed video” caused the attack. “Top intelligence officials struggled to explain to lawmakers Thursday why their initial talking points after the Libya attack minimized the role of militant groups, putting pressure on former CIA Director David Petraeus to set the record straight in another round of closed-door hearings Friday.”

When pressed to identify who came up with the infamous “Mohammed video” talking points, neither Clapper nor Morell could recall the person responsible.

    • texan59 says:

I posted a wiki link late last night regarding Mr. Morell. He was head of CIA unit who prepared daily briefings for Dubya. Another (probably) good man who will be sacrificed for the good of Teh Won. Watch it.

    • michellc says:

I’m one of those evil folks as well. I’m thinking about growing my own, I saw someone selling tobacco plants on craigslist, might have to give them a call or try those vapor things.

      • stellap says:

If you can give it up, it would be good. I was a very heavy smoker for a long time, but gave it up in my early forties. It wasn’t easy, but a good decision – not the least of which is saving money. As for growing tobacco, when I was a kid they used to grow tobacco in Canada, so it can probably be grown anywhere, as long as there is enough water and sunlight.

Proud of ya Pat….that mustn’t have been easy. ;-)

          • stellap says:

I probably would never have quit, except my older sister died of emphysema at age 60. Not a good way to die.

            • Ad rem says:

I know. My BIL (rip) was a 5 pack-a-day ex-marine that went the same way. I keep my smoking friends in my prayers.

              • stellap says:

My sis had bad pneumonia as a child (our sister who was two years younger than her died that same week), so her lungs weren’t in good condition to begin with. Can you believe that this same woman studied opera as a teen? She had a beautiful soprano voice. What a waste.

                • Ad rem says:

I was a singer too….for that very reason never approached the stuff, or stayed too long in the presence of one who did. (Now….if I only practiced the same restraint when it came to sugar!. :-) )

Morning, peeps! I’m starting to come out of my funk – because the pre-session is gearing up. Legislators are caucusing, choosing leadership and committee chairs. Stayed out way too late at the local watering hole cussin’ and discussin’ and solving the problems of the world with like-minded politicos. The world goes on, limping as it were, but on it goes. We will endure, survive, and prevail. Eventually.

  14. Morning, dahlings and Happy Friday.

Just found out why my SIL didn’t come by as promised after voting…yep, she voted for the “free” healthcare, based upon the advice of a neighbor from Canada. Which begs the question…if what they got going on up there is so great, why is said neighbor here?

  15. cajunkelly says:

Lord what an awful news morning. Jerusalem is now under attack. :(

Then I got my entire world ROCKED off it’s foundation with the news of the rig fire in the gulf…off Grand Isle.

Freacked the heck OUT! One of my sons is on a rig in the gulf, so I sent a panic text to my son…he can’t get cell calls out there, and immediately my phone rang from some strange number….(bawling) it was my baby boy calling from an emergency number….not his rig, he hadn’t even heard about it, but said he should be able to see it from his rig….so he left to go check…hasn’t called me back yet. (humbly and tearfully offering thanks to my God, and offering up prayers for the two men missing..that they will be found safe.)

  16. cajunkelly says:

Rep. Marcia Fudge….oh, BTW, yeah she’s black, just said:

Every time something goes wrong they pick on women and minorities.

    REALLY? Seriously?

Shall we discuss Bill’s daliances and the attacks on those multiple women? I didn’t realize they were minorities…

“drag a dollar through a trailer park” comes to mind.

    • cajunkelly says:

OOOOO! What kinda gumbo? Ya’s got me perkin right up! Finally it’s cold enough for gumbo, venison chili, etc.

DH and I indulged on some “Texas sized mudbugs” tonight….had two six pounders (QQ!) flown in today from Montauk, NY. His Dad was a commercial fisherman in NY for decades and still have family/friends connections.

I can now say I’ve done “all you can eat lobster”! Saved one of the tails…had to call Uncle on it…so tomorrow we’ll grill steaks and have those with that. The crusher claws were wider than a saucer and the pincher claws were wider than my palm.

Biggest mud bugs this Southern gal’s ever seen!

Yes, we are guilty of one of the seven deadly sins. :( But we thanked God profusely for the blessing.

        • cajunkelly says:

Well it appears they may not be lost forever. There’s talk that the owners will be selling off the brands, recipes and product names.

Probably be like Holsum bread though when they sold off. Never has been the same..and I quit buying it cuz I ain’t payin a premiunm for air holes.

      • GracieD says:

It is a Seafood Gumbo, CK. 5 pounds of Lump and White Crabmeat, 3 pounds Shrimp, 3 pounds Crawfish tails, and 3 pounds of Andouille. I started the Roux Thursday, added the trinity and the Seafood last night, and will pull it out of the fridge shortly and let it simmer for a while longer. :D

        • cajunkelly says:

ahhh cher! Now that I’ve recovered from lobster coma, that sounds like heaven in a big ole pot! How many you plannin’ on feedin with all dat?

Dunno who your teacher was, but you got the “you don’t make a gumbo in a single day” down pat! I wouldn’t add a thing, ‘cept a big ole bowl and a spoon. :) Oh and nice lil bed of rice for it to rest easy on.

  45. texan59 says:

    G’night Tils. This one’s for you! ;)
