I’m one of those evil folks as well. I’m thinking about growing my own, I saw someone selling tobacco plants on craigslist, might have to give them a call or try those vapor things.
If you can give it up, it would be good. I was a very heavy smoker for a long time, but gave it up in my early forties. It wasn’t easy, but a good decision – not the least of which is saving money. As for growing tobacco, when I was a kid they used to grow tobacco in Canada, so it can probably be grown anywhere, as long as there is enough water and sunlight.

I probably would never have quit, except my older sister died of emphysema at age 60. Not a good way to die.
I know. My BIL (rip) was a 5 pack-a-day ex-marine that went the same way. I keep my smoking friends in my prayers.
My sis had bad pneumonia as a child (our sister who was two years younger than her died that same week), so her lungs weren’t in good condition to begin with. Can you believe that this same woman studied opera as a teen? She had a beautiful soprano voice. What a waste.
I was a singer too….for that very reason never approached the stuff, or stayed too long in the presence of one who did. (Now….if I only practiced the same restraint when it came to sugar!.

Then I got my entire world ROCKED off it’s foundation with the news of the rig fire in the gulf…off Grand Isle.
Freacked the heck OUT! One of my sons is on a rig in the gulf, so I sent a panic text to my son…he can’t get cell calls out there, and immediately my phone rang from some strange number….(bawling) it was my baby boy calling from an emergency number….not his rig, he hadn’t even heard about it, but said he should be able to see it from his rig….so he left to go check…hasn’t called me back yet. (humbly and tearfully offering thanks to my God, and offering up prayers for the two men missing..that they will be found safe.)

DH and I indulged on some “Texas sized mudbugs” tonight….had two six pounders (QQ!) flown in today from Montauk, NY. His Dad was a commercial fisherman in NY for decades and still have family/friends connections.
I can now say I’ve done “all you can eat lobster”! Saved one of the tails…had to call Uncle on it…so tomorrow we’ll grill steaks and have those with that. The crusher claws were wider than a saucer and the pincher claws were wider than my palm.

It is a Seafood Gumbo, CK. 5 pounds of Lump and White Crabmeat, 3 pounds Shrimp, 3 pounds Crawfish tails, and 3 pounds of Andouille. I started the Roux Thursday, added the trinity and the Seafood last night, and will pull it out of the fridge shortly and let it simmer for a while longer.
