Either he is tired of everyone making fun of his Teleprompter Dependence Syndrome, or he is just trying to modify the “optics” of how silly it looks as part of his campaign image.  You decide.

(Politico) — Woe betide the presidential teleprompter. It has been insulted by Michele Bachmann and Rush Limbaugh, House Republicans tried to cut its fundingand even Vice President Joe Biden mocks it openly.

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter has evolved into a shorthand for critics that symbolizes something a little untrustworthy — something a bit contrived. Even those who use teleprompters criticize his use of the teleprompter. Generally, Obama is better without one — less autopilot, more eye contact.

Obama Wednesday gave a speech at Northern Virginia Community College using only notes, on paper. The prompter also was not in evidence the day before, during his visit with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Has there been a rupture?  (read more)
