You might have read, or received, an e-mail from gun rights enthusiasts with the following story:
You’re sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it…
In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.
As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you’re in trouble. In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..
Yours was never registered.. (more…)
Pinch me…… This is not a typo, the French, as in France, the country of, are using fighter jets to attack al-Qaeda in North Africa. The French are engaged in active military operations against Islamists in Mali. Did I mention this is France doing this…..
Who would have thought that France would be fighting al-Qaeda and the United States would be providing al-Qaeda weapons (Syria) while claiming they are gone. All the while an American Abassador is dragged through the streets and al-Qaeda flags hoisted atop U.S. embassies, and we do…….. ?
John Kerry for Secretary of State, Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary, Jack Lew for Treasury and John O Brennan for CIA Director…. Sheeesh…. Wake me up in five years,… but only if I can still buy asprin with dollars.
(Reuters) — French aircraft pounded Islamist rebels in Mali for a second day on Saturday and neighboring West African states sped up their plans to deploy troops in an international campaign to prevent groups linked to al Qaeda expanding their power base.
France, warning that the control of northern Mali by the militants posed a security threat to Europe, intervened dramatically on Friday as heavily armed Islamist fighters swept southwards towards Mali’s capital Bamako. (more…)

I didn’t want to post about this, because frankly, it is exhausting. I’ve been having this exact same argument for my entire adult life. It is not an exaggeration when I say that I know pretty much exactly every single thing an anti-gun person can say. I’ve heard it over and over, the same old tired stuff, trotted out every single time there is a tragedy on the news that can be milked. Yet, I got sucked in, and I’ve spent the last few days arguing with people who either mean well but are uninformed about gun laws and how guns actually work (who I don’t mind at all), or the willfully ignorant (who I do mind), or the obnoxiously stupid who are completely incapable of any critical thinking deeper than a Facebook meme (them, I can’t stand).
Today’s blog post is going to be aimed at the first group. I am going to try to go through everything I’ve heard over the last few days, and try to break it down from my perspective. My goal tonight is to write something that my regular readers will be able to share with their friends who may not be as familiar with how mass shootings or gun control laws work. (more…)
David Gregory violated DC Gun Laws on National TV
Someone help me out with something. What is the difference between “universal background checks” and “a national gun registry”?
(Via HuffPo WASHINGTON) — Just days before Vice President Joe Biden issues a sweeping series of recommendations on gun policy Tuesday, the outline of his suggestions is coming into focus.
Multiple sources close to the talks tell The Huffington Post that the vice president will make universal background checks for all gun purchases the “top priority” of his suggestions. The idea has broad support among politicians in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as well as backing from some traditionally pro-gun rights voices. The clearest sign that background checks will be the centerpiece of the Biden recommendations, however, is that a number of gun control advocacy groups have also deemed it such, as opposed to focusing their efforts on higher-profile measures, such as those that would limit the types of guns available for purchase. Considering John O Brennan is nominated to head the CIA, Chuck Hagel is nominated to head the Department of Defense and John Kerry is nominated to be the next Secretary of State. It may seem odd to align the Treasury Secretary pick with them. Odd that is, until you remember:
Prior to his position as President Obama’s Chief of Staff, and prior to him being Obama’s Budget Director (comical considering Obama has never had a budget) Jack Lew served as State Department Director under Hillary Clinton. It was Lew’s influence that shaped and positioned the failed Obama foreign policy toward the Middle East. Specifically toward Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya during their upheavel, the Arab Spring. How has that worked out for our interests ?
President Obama has presented his Chief of Staff, Jack Lew, as his nominee for Treasury Secretary. Make no mistake, this is not a decision made with the economic interests of the United States in mind, this is a highly partisan decision made with the specific intent of finding methonds of spending that will work AROUND congress.
Senator Jeff Sessions is right when he calls Jack Lew a “liar”, but the issues with Lew are far larger than his intentional propensity to mislead:
As the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Lew has spent an inordinate amount of time honing one specific aspect of federal spending. (more…)
Pat Caddell is a Democrat. But he is an American first. As he eloquently states” the political class swears an oath to the constitution, not their party. They exist at the consent of the governed and something is about to explode… something…..
Piers Morgan had Ben Shapiro on his show to talk Bullies and Guns. It did not take long for Piers to showcase himself as a bully, proving Ben’s point, and pontificating his normal nonsense.
But Ben Shapiro did an exceptional job pointing out the hypocrisy of the pontificating prog.
Excellent job by Ben Shapiro.
The first day for Senate Legislation is January 22nd – That’s when Dianne Feinstein is expected to begin her gun removal law through the Senate. Her legislation is ready to go…. Now VP Joe Biden says his recommendations will be presented to President Obama by next Tuesday January 15th.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pledging swift action to curb gun violence, Vice President Joe Biden said he would deliver new policy proposals to President Barack Obama by Tuesday.
Biden said that while he had not finalized his recommendations, a consensus was emerging over banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, as well as tightening background checks.
Some of those measures are likely to face opposition from some pro-gun groups, most notably the powerful National Rifle Association. A representative from the NRA was scheduled to meet with Biden Thursday afternoon. *snip* The NRA sees what is coming:
The National Rifle Association emerged from a meeting Thursday with Vice President Biden and accused his gun violence task force of leading an “attack” on the Second Amendment — just hours after Biden gave a glimpse into the gun-control recommendations expected to hit the president’s desk in a matter of days.
