Ackbarsays (ABS) Writes: This article concerns Bethune Cookman University. You’ll remember them because a group of BCU students famously marched from downtown Daytona Beach to Sanford during the height of the whole Zimmerman lynch-fest last year.   This private university of less than 3600 students is asking (demanding?) they be allowed to establish their own police force, answerable to the school president rather than the local police chief. Note that they try to cover their real intentions by saying that this is about student safety (an “added layer of protection” from “violent shooters”).  I highlighted a few things and added a few notes:

DAYTONA BEACH — Bethune-Cookman University could have its own independent police force in about five months, an autonomous law enforcement agency that would report to the school’s president — not the city’s police chief.

That’s the hope of top B-CU officials who have been talking to city officials and working on a proposed agreement they would like city commissioners to vote on within the next month.

“As we looked across the country at the number of violent shooters, the Board of Trustees felt we needed an added layer of protection,” said Cheryl Lawson-Young, B-CU’s crime prevention and compliance manager. (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – A photo of the Obamas hugging that was released on Election Day 2012 has become the world’s most popular tweet on Twitter. A dressed-up version of Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech, packed with charts and graphs, is huge on YouTube. A playful picture of the president cavorting with a 3-year-old in a Spiderman costume is a favorite online.

It’s all courtesy of the Obama image machine, serving up a stream of words, images and videos that invariably cast the president as commanding, compassionate and on the ball. In this world, Obama’s family is always photogenic, first dog Bo is always well-behaved and the vegetables in the South Lawn kitchen garden always seem succulent. (more…)

As most people are now aware in the nation of Cyprus a system of forced confiscation from bank depositors was announced and refined over the past two weeks.    Any amount held in a Cyprotic bank over  €100,000 is now being forcibly “haircut” by 40%.   Meaning 40% of the holdings in any bank account are being taken by the government.   However, word now leaking that prior to the announcement – the President Of Cyprus removed dozens of millions from bank accounts and transferred to London, England.

(Via ZeroHedge)  A day after former Cypriot President Vassilou was found to be among many elite Cypriot (politicians and businessmen) who had loans written-off by the major (now insolvent) banks; it appears the rot is far fouler than expected.

In a somewhat stunning (or purely coincidental) revelation, ENETEnglish reports that Cypriot newspaper Haravgi claims that current President Nicos Anastasiades’ family businesses transferred ‘dozens of millions’ from their Laiki Bank accounts to London just a week before the devastating depositor haircuts were unleashed upon his people. (Via Freedomworks)  I am currently in my freshman year of high school and the incidents are happening more frequently and I believe are more severe.  As you can imagine, the ongoing pressure and bullying has been disturbing to me, my friends and my family.

Just before the 2010 Midterm election, I was on the front page of the local newspaper for my political volunteer work and my teachers noticed. One of my seven teachers made it very clear that she dissaproved of my civic engagement. In a period of two months, my Geography teacher frequently would take me aside after school for a few minutes and tell me how stupid, wrong and misguided I was for being Republican. The harassment with this specific teacher got so bad, I had to switch schools halfway through the year.  At this time I was only 12 years old. To my knowledge, this teacher was not disciplined at all for her actions. (more…)

You might have begun the day with thoughtful reflection for the Rising of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.   You might have even gathered your family to discuss how the death of the Son of God was to forgive us our sins and grant absolution for all those who proclaim His name.

You might have even held each other close in celebration of the joyous gift we recognize this day filled with eternal light, love and grace.  

Perhaps you clasped hands and gave consideration for the abundant kindness and strength of Christianity in the face of overwhelming adversity and prayed for those who trespass against us. 

Perhaps.

But not Obama.

No, instead he chose to sit and worship at the altar of almighty self-righteous indignation.  When you point outward you “Forgive not your trespasses for you forgive not those who have trespassed against you”…. 

WASHINGTON DC – The pastor at the Washington, D.C. church where the Obama family celebrated Easter on Sunday said members of the religious right want blacks “in the back of the bus,” women “back in the kitchen” and immigrants “back on their side of the border.” (more…)

Remember the famous “fabian socialist mantra” – It’s not who votes, but who counts the votes that matters…..

WASHINGTON DC – President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order Thursday establishing a Presidential Commission to deal with “election administration” that critics say is an attempt to nationalize the country’s elections for partisan advantage.

The Executive Order states the Commission “shall identify best practices and otherwise make recommendations to promote the efficient administration of elections in order to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to cast their ballots without undue delay.”

The Commission will focus on polling places, how better to train and recruit poll workers, managing voter rolls and poll books, voting machines, ballot simplicity, English proficiency, and absentee ballots. The states–not the federal government–traditionally have responsibility over such matters. (more…)

This article is representative of why we cannot have an honest discussion about violence in this country without being labeled as racist.

One of the key tenets of Progs is their capacity to use congnitive dissonance to reconcile their arguments/positions.  They ignore the water in the rain and describe getting wet as a problem.  The truth does not fit this agenda.

Articles and interviews would flood the media, and we’d have political debates demanding that African Americans be “held accountable.” Then, if an atrocity such as the Newtown, Conn., shootings took place and African American male leaders held a news conference to offer solutions, their credibility would be questionable. The public would tell these leaders that they need to focus on problems in their own culture and communities.

But when the criminals and leaders are white men, race and gender become the elephant in the room.

The victimization rate for blacks (27.8 per 100,000) is 6 times higher than the rate for whites (4.5 per 100,000). Nearly all of the mass shootings in this country in recent years — not just Newtown, Aurora, Fort Hood, Tucson and Columbine — have been committed by white men and boys. Yet when the National Rifle Association (NRA), led by white men, held a news conference after the Newtown massacre to advise Americans on how to reduce gun violence, its leaders’ opinions were widely discussed. It has been almost two years since we first discussed the rampant corruption in the Atlanta (Georgia) Public School System.   The initial reports were alarming beyond measure, and now the criminal charges are being discussed/levied.

ATLANTA – In another embarrassing blow to Atlanta public schools, nearly three dozen  former educators, including the ex-superintendent, were indicted Friday in one  of the nation’s largest test cheating scandals.

Former Superintendent Beverly Hall  (pictured left) faced charges including racketeering,  false statements and theft because prosecutors said some of the bonuses she  received were tied to falsified scores.

Hall retired just days before a state probe was released in 2011. She has  long denied knowing about the cheating or ordering it.

During a news conference Friday, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard  provided examples of two students who demonstrated “the plight of many children”  in the Atlanta school system. He described a third-grader who failed a benchmark  exam and received the worst score in her reading class in 2006. The girl was  held back, yet when she took a separate assessment test not long after, she  passed with flying colors. (more…)
