WASHINGTON DC – President Obama turned up on NBC’s “Meet the Press” for the first time since the passage of ObamaCare, and gave exactly the performance that every veteran Obama-watcher would have expected: a bitter, intransigent partisan claiming to be the only non-partisan, non-ideological participant in the “fiscal cliff” drama. “I’m not driven by some ideological agenda – I’m a pretty practical guy,” he explicitly stated, offering his past four years in office as evidence.

( Today ) President Obama on Sunday said he would make gun control a priority in his new term, pledging to put his “full weight” behind passing new restrictions on firearms in 2013.

“I’m going to be putting forward a package and I’m going to be putting my full weight behind it,” Obama said in an interview aired on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I’m going to be making an argument to the American people about why this is important and why we have to do everything we can to make sure that something like what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary does not happen again.” (more…)

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.

Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said.

The original map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City. (more…)

What do Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, The RNC, Mitt Romney, Wayne La Pierre,  The NRA and NRA President David Keene have in common?

They don’t know their enemy, nor how to fight back against them.   They are insufferably out of touch, out of sync, and have no rhythm because they are all operating on broken historical paradigms.

Consider this latest round of NRA pushback as summed up by Jim Hoft in this headline at Gateway Pundit:

NRA Mocks Feinstein’s Ignorant Gun-Ban Bill: Next She’ll Want to Add “Nuclear Bomb” to Banned Gun Features –    “Mocking“?  Strong in the stupid force is this crew.   Hoft puts a link to the NRA article which includes:

Feinstein’s 1994 ban listed “grenade launcher” as one of the prohibiting features for rifles. Her 2013 bill carries goes even further into the ridiculous, by also listing “rocket launcher.” Such devices are restricted under the National Firearms Act and, obviously, are not standard components of the firearms Feinstein wants to ban. Perhaps a subsequent Feinstein bill will add “nuclear bomb,” “particle beam weapon,” or something else equally far-fetched to the features list.  (link)

Prepare to be uncomfortable.    Today we will share some truthful information regarding the pending Dianne Feinstein “Assault Weapon” legislation.

But first I want to remind you of a specific date:  January 20th 2010.

That was the day AFTER Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown won his historic election and turned the “Kennedy Seat” back to the “Peoples Seat”……..

Everyone, and I do mean “everyone”, proclaimed victory in killing Obamacare, there was no way President Obama was going to get it passed now because Brown represented the proverbial 41st Senate vote against it, reducing the Senate support to 59 one less than Harry Reid needed.

Oh, how joyful, and insufferably naive the Constitutional Conservative, Tea Party, Republican movement was.   As a lone voice, we shouted out then the opinion that it did not matter, Obamacare would get through ‘By.Any.Means.Neccessary’, because we know these people and how they operate, and it did.   On January 20th our little voice was an infinitesimal minority – Everyone thought victory over Obama was at hand. (via The Blaze)  Russell Kellner of Flower Mound, Texas, ordered three Troy Defense Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifles from Dick’s Sporting Goods on Black Friday, CBS 11 News reports.

At $799 apiece, a savings of $300 dollars, it “was a heck of a deal,” he said.  However, Kellner and his wife received only two of the three guns. They received a letter from Dick’s on Christmas Eve stating that the company would not fulfill the remainder of their order. (more…)

(Via WZ)  (Reuters) – Kasey Hansen, a special educationteacher from Salt Lake City, Utah, says she would take a bullet for any of her students, but if faced with a gunman threatening her class, she would rather be able to shoot back.

On Thursday, she was one of 200 Utah teachers who flocked to an indoor sports arena for free instruction in the handling of firearms by gun activists who say armed educators might have a chance at thwarting deadly shooting rampages in their schools.

The event was organized by the Utah Shooting Sports Council in response to the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, this month that killed 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School. (more…)

(Via Ricochet) [A] friend who is a congressional staffer told me about this riveting interview of David Keene, president of the NRA, by CBS’ Bob Schieffer. Keene does a good job of pleasantly responding to Schieffer’s biased and inaccurate questions.

The part that struck me? Schieffer asks if the NRA will support a ban on “military-style assault weapons,” saying that “even” police chiefs support that. Keene explains that military-style weapons are fully automatic and that the bans being proposed are actually of semi-automatic weapons. They oppose those ban attempts. Schieffer says, showing his ignorance of how semi-automatic weapons work, “How many rounds can these weapons discharge in five seconds?” Keene says, well, “They fire when you pull the trigger.” Schieffer says, yeah, “And they keep firing.” Keene explains that “No, they don’t keep firing.” (more…)
