A Politico report (below) says that Vice-President Biden will outline nineteen possible Executive Actions that President Obama could take.    I Had an interesting conversation earlier today about this.   On one hand you have people saying that President Obama cannot use his executive power to “change” gun laws;  Call those people Traditional Reference Thinkers. 

On the other hand you have people who recognize President Obama has previously ignored his own Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) regarding the use of Executive Orders and bypassing congress;  Call those people Non-Traditional Reference Thinkers.

Example Here……. and HERE……  and the most staggering example HERE, when he became the first president in history to override his own Office of Legal Counsel and found new lawyers willing to agree with him.

“Presidents have the legal authority to override the legal conclusions of the Office of Legal Counsel and to act in a manner that is contrary to its advice, but it is extraordinarily rare for that to happen. Under normal circumstances, the office’s interpretation of the law is legally binding on the executive branch”.

(*Note, how rare is it for the President to ignore the Top Legal Advice of the OLC?  It’s never happened before….EVER.  That’s how rare !…. ) (more…)

We know political whores when we see them.   But combine a “Rat Fink” with  a political whore and you get a Chuck Schumer:

Fink – (n):  A contemptible person.  An unpleasant, disappointing, or contemptible person.  To withhold promised support or participation: They said they’d help us, but then finked out.

I knew something about the multiple reports of Chuck Schumer asking retailers not to sell “assault style” rifles was not passing the sniff test.     Like a typical prog-snake in the grass aka “fink”,  and despite the numerous outlets running that story (including Associated Press), it is not on his official “Press Releases”. We were alerted (via e-mail) to a three part video from sheriff in Kentucky who talked to a group about his opinion/plan/approach regarding federal intervention toward gun control in his county of Jackson in Kentucky.     [We’ll provide a recap video here, and links to the 3 part series after the video].

Sheriff’s opinions are of particular interest to me because they are the TOP constitutional officer in every region.   Often  I come across people who are not aware of the power of the County Sheriff.  Power bestowed upon them by the authority of their position under the U.S. Constitution.    They have far more constitutional power than judges or other elected officials;  and if needed, the country sheriff can arrest any Judge, Mayor, City Police Chief, or even the State Governor or any Federal agent who crosses the county line.  Keep that in mind when you listen to this video provided:

fyi, I keep seeing this report linked in numerous articles and media statements.  However, the Chuck Schumer site which lists ALL his press releases does not show one.

NEW YORK (AP) – Senator Charles Schumer says retailers that sell assault weapons should stop offering them for purchase while Congress discusses gun regulation legislation.

Schumer on Sunday released a letter he sent to major retailers asking for a voluntary moratorium.   The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn.  Schumer says Congress is debating the issue, and if measures get passed that limit these type of weapons, it won’t help if more of them have recently been sold. An underreported mission to rescue a French hostage in Somalia failed miserably on Friday and now the hostage is presumed to be dead. The White House says the U.S. involvement was “limited technical support” for the French against al-Shabab terrorists. Reading between the lines it appears the terms of assistance are defined due to the failure. Here is the most comprehensive information we can find:

(Associated Press) MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — The night of mayhem and death started with the sound of helicopters above pitch-black fields. When it was over, the French intelligence agent who had been held hostage for more than three years was almost certainly dead, as was at least one French commando, and the home that served as the agent’s final jail was destroyed. And now the Somalis living in the muddy farm town had new cause to fear the militants controlling their street.

It was too dark to see beyond the brief glow of flashlights, but noise was everywhere, said Ali Bulhan, who woke up when the earth started vibrating to the beat of the helicopter rotors. And the flashlights were abruptly extinguished when the French soldiers shot the Somalis who had turned them on to see what was happening in their town in the dead of night, said town elder Hussein Yasin. Progressive and intolerant Colin Powell has the whole gun debate figured out:  “why can’t we just test everybody” before they are allowed to own a firearm?

There’s those pesky “Bill of Rights” thingy’s again.   Maybe we could test before allowing voting rights.  Or, well,  maybe a stability test before free speech expression, or religious affiliation.

What’s that, those other rights can’t kill people?  Really?  Think about that.

And NO, driving is not a “right”, so testing is not an appropriate comparison.   And if you cannot see the slippery slope to ownership of ice-cream purchasing based in physical exam and BMI (Body Mass Index) then you really don’t connect dots that well. (more…)

WASHINGTON — Just two days before Vice President Joe Biden delivers a comprehensive set of recommendations on gun policy, National Rifle Association President David Keene rejected the reported outline of suggestions Sunday and dismissed any ban on assault weapons or high-capacity magazines as a non-starter.

“We don’t think any of those things work,” he said in appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “You should absolutely be able to compromise on things that accomplish the purpose. Our objection to those things is that they interfere with people’s rights without doing anything to solve the problem.” (more…)
