Today in the State of Florida VS. George Zimmerman case (Trayvon Martin shooting) the defense counsel Mark O’Mara has provided the court with a motion to Sanction the Prosecutorial Team [The State of Florida].   pdf available here

Specifically O’Mara is outlining to the court how Witness #8, “DeeDee”, Trayvon’s reported girlfriend, had lied in her sworn statements and how the State of Florida, Bernie De La Rionda, had known about her lies since August 2nd 2012, and yet never divulged that factual knowledge to the court or defense team in discovery.

O’Mara is asking for punitive sanctions, fines and legal reimbursement, against the State of Florida for their complicit and intentional hiding of pertinent discovery.

The motion cites the specific examples of how the lies were created, why the lies were told, and how the State of Florida was told about the lying by the witness herself. (more…)

Understanding how and why George Zimmerman is being prosecuted in the Trayvon Martin shooting is a complex undertaking.   Most of the people with a ‘general sense’ of the case have no idea the depth of the alignment against him.

This week many people became aware of the name “Thomas Perez” because he is a nominee put forth by President Obama for a cabinet secretary position, Labor Secretary.  However, in his previous role as head of the Civil Rights Division of the Dept of Justice, Mr Perez played a key role in the George Zimmerman case.

It should be noted that Congressional Black Caucus member, Congresswoman Corrine Brown, played a key role in bringing race-based support from Perez to the forefront of the case.   Both Congresswoman Brown, and Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett, asked the Dept. of Justice to intervene in the case.   [All supportive documents are within this pdf]

Mark O’Mara has filed a motion with the court for reconsideration of Judge Nelson’s prior ruling regarding Benjamin Crump’s ineligibility for deposition.  (pdf here)

This motion will affectionately be called “Tara’s Motion“, because the diligence of Treeper Tara appears to have given the defense a key tool in its position. Specifically the ABC audio tape which was mysteriously uploaded onto the ABC website on February 28th, which Tara discovered.

There are multiple substantive arguments in the motion filed by O’Mara outlining the defense position that Trayvon Martin family attorney, Benjamin Crump, is specifically a key witness for deposition surrounding all of the elements regarding discovery of Witness #8, Dee Dee; Who, coincidently was deposed last Friday. A massive amount of division lays at the heart of many George Zimmerman supporters regarding his legal counsel Mark O’Mara.    In an effort to heal the infection – here is why it matters, and what it infers moving forward.

Personally, I am not a fan of Mark O’Mara – simply because I do not trust, nor am I willing to excuse, those who have shown a history of untrustworthy behavior.   However, I will try to disassociate myself from opinion and reflect upon the integrity issues within, because, quite frankly, George has NO option(s) – For better or worse, he’s stuck with him.

History –  Mark O’Mara ideologically, like his friend and CNN contributor Mark NaJame, is more in alignment with the people who are prosecuting George Zimmerman than the people who support him.   Mark O’Mara’s central outlook toward life is “progressive”, and he infers that sentiment into his approach.   This ideology and familiarity is why Mark NaJame’s firm recommended O’Mara.

In short, he’s a legally left-leaning Democrat; and his views on gun ownership, stand-your-ground laws and trial lawyers, are counterintuitive to the position of the client he represents.

Most professionals would argue that attorneys are capable of separating their individual biases when advocating for clients positions.   This is generally true;  However in the case of Mark O’Mara he has specifically framed George Zimmerman’s positions on the case as if he is distancing himself from his client.   Intellectually honest persons would agree with this overall impression that O’Mara exudes. Someone had requested a reference list of “key players” in the George Zimmerman case; To be used by people who are unfamiliar with all the parties and the web of interconnections of their association.

It is actually a very valuable question, and in fact I was considering putting together as such. However, absent of the sheer exhaustive time it would take to gather names and identities as well as describe how they relate, perhaps there is another useful tool already in place.

(By:  Jack Cashill)  The headline of the Orlando Sentinel on March 5 introduced a harsh note of  reality into the darkly comic opera the major media have been spinning around  the death of Trayvon Martin, “Lawyer: State’s main witness in George Zimmerman  murder case lied.”

That witness, Witness No. 8, Trayvon’s alleged 16-year-old sweetheart “Dee  Dee,” captivated the media when the story surfaced on March 20, 2012.

CNN covered it live. Anchor Kyra Phillips enthused about the “chilling new  perspective” added to the case by the testimony of this heartsick girl who was  on the phone with Trayvon when he was shot by George Zimmerman.

Phillips then introduced CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin.  Hostin had spoken  with a Martin family attorney and shared with the CNN audience what he had  learned. (more…)

ORLANDO – […] Attorneys for George Zimmerman were expected to ask his judge this morning to order the state’s most important witness, the young Miami woman who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin just before he was shot, to produce medical records.

However, defense lawyer Don West made a startling claim shortly after the hearing began: The state had revealed, before the hearing, that there are no medical records.

The woman, the defense lawyer said, “misrepresented” in a sworn statement that she missed Trayvon’s funeral because she had been hospitalized.

“In fact, she lied,” West said.

Prosecutor John Guy confirmed there will be no medical records, effectively confirming that there was no hospital trip. (more…)

OK, Treepers, you want to know what you can do to help George Zimmerman, well, here it is.

Today February 26th is the anniversary of the day 17-year-old thug Trayvon Martin angrily attacked George Zimmerman and was shot and killed by George in self-defense.

This shooting took place moments after Trayvon left a 7-11 store with the ingredients for his preferred drug cocktail, “Lean”. Skittles, Watermelon Fruit Punch, and Robitussin combine to make some “fire ass lean”, and Robitussin needed to be used because Trayvon could not find a local source for prescription liquid codeine. So at 6:29pm, after getting a couple of other older guys to buy him some Black and Mild Cigars at the 7-11 to go with the dope he was smoking, he headed back to his dad’s girlfriend’s (Brandi) condo.

These facts are not disputed – they are evident, provable, and cited with specific certainty by our research. We stand behind this 100%. Nothing about these fact-based assertions can be disputed without the intellectual disconnect leading to a manipulative series of lies and obfuscations; the Martin Family storyline is a series of fabricated lies. This writing is awkward but necessary.

Dear Mr. West,

It is an unknown variable how much of the case background you were technically aware of prior to your entry into this case. It is also an unknown variable as to the nature of your relationship with Mark O’Mara, and whether it is in fact more than professional? However, it is well-known to interested observers that you are the primary researcher/investigator of the defense.

Your partner sucks.

Not only is he professionally compromised, known by many within the courthouse circuit to be a fibber and ‘stretcher of truth’, and concerned more about his selfish ego than the protection of his client, your client, – but he is also smarmy and truth adverse.

Being truth adverse might be a keen professional benefit for lawyered types when representing guilty folks, or those who might be guilty; But it’s a horrid professional trait when defending the innocent because truth is supposed to be on your side.

Right is right, even if nobody does it.

Wrong is wrong, even if everybody does it.

George Zimmerman is suffering through the painful consequences from a lack of integrity.  However, the ironic and painful fact is this: it wasn’t his lack of integrity that has created the situation he is now dealing with, it was Mark O’Mara’s.

We watched last year in April and May as the hurricane of activity created some really horrible decisions on the part of many people in the Trayvon Martin shooting.

From Ryan Julison intentionally misleading the media in describing the case as racially driven–to Benjamin Crump intentionally fabricating *media* evidence surrounding witness #8 “DeeDee.”  But the integrity issues were not just on the opposition side.

Indeed the same unscrupulous behaviors were also in the camp of those defending George Zimmerman.   We tried to warn interested observers of the risk from Mark O’Mara falsifying information.   Unfortunately it fell on deaf ears.

Now those chickens are coming home to roost.
