From Yankeeintx – I just returned from the Chris Kyle Memorial Service. It was an incredible send off to an incredible American hero. The service introduced us all to the real Chris Kyle. When his wife read a message, she started with “Chris always used to tell me that if your brain can think it, then your body can do it”, and said she was counting on that to be true today. She read a letter to her kids “what your dad would want you to know”, and there wasn’t a dry eye anywhere. I don’t know how she found the strength.

I didn’t realize until today that Chris donated the earnings from his book to the families of other Navy Seals that lost their lives. Joe Nichols sang “The Impossible”, Randy Travis sang “Amazing Grace”. Very touching service, very respectful, very patriotic. (more…)

Best U.S. Sniper in history, author of American Sniper, and the guy who decked Jesse Ventura, Chris Kyle, has been murdered today at a Texas gun range.

TEXAS – A former Tarleton State University student who wrote the best-selling book, “American Sniper,” was one of two victims shot and killed at Rough Creek Lodge Saturday.

Chris Kyle, 38, and another man were found dead at Rough Creek’s shooting range between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff Tommy Bryant.

Eddie Ray Routh, an Iraqi war veteran, was arrested hours later after a manhunt led authorities to Lancaster where Routh was taken into custody just before 9 p.m. Saturday.

Andrew Breitbart would have been 44 years old today, his birthday.

He died March 1st 2012 and will NEVER be forgotten.

WASHINGTON DC – Thousands of young adults thronged the National Mall on Friday to protest abortion and cheer speakers who called for overturning the 40-year-old landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision.

Protesters — drawn by social media and church youth groups — flocked to the annual March for Life despite subfreezing temperatures and snow in the forecast.

“We are winning with young people. I see it right in front of me today,” said organizer Jeanne Monahan, president of the March for Life Education & Defense Fund.

As one abortion opponent after another addressed the crowd, Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey drew the loudest applause with an attack on the court ruling: “Forty years ago this past Tuesday marks the Supreme Court’s infamous, reckless and inhumane abandonment of women and babies to the abortionists.” (more…)

The heavily fortified village was now in plain view over the rolling, snow-covered fields. The two tank destroyers sat astraddle a narrow dirt road that ran deep into the woods. Murphy knew German armor would have to advance along the roadway. Early in the afternoon, he phoned back to 1st Battalion headquarters for last-minute instructions. He was informed that the 2nd Battalion, 30th Regiment, had not yet arrived to reinforce his company. Hold your position were his orders.

At 1400 hours on January 26, 1945, German armor and infantry moved out from Holtzwihr, preceded by an artillery barrage. From my forward shallow emplacement I saw the counterattack forming with six tanks and about 250 foot soldiers garbed in white suits, Murphy recalled, so it would’ve been impossible to spot them sooner or any farther away than a mile. I alerted the men and ran for the field phone and called the artillery officer at battalion headquarters and arranged for 2nd Battalion to fire. I no sooner gave the order to fire than all hell broke loose. The Germans had started their preliminary barrage. Private First Class Donald Eckman remembered: You could see the pennants on the antenna of the German tanks….That got our attention right away….We also saw a huge sea of white infantry coming toward us. According to a report from Gatway Pundit – The Daughters of the American Revolution [DAR], whose motto is “God, home and country”, removed all references to God and Christianity from all of its official books. Chaplains were told to stop using the name of Jesus. The DAR even removed “America the Beautiful” from its official documents because it mentions God.

(BigFurHat @iOTW writes) I read a story a couple of days ago about a young man in Australia that was relegated to the back row for a class picture. The kid’s name was Luke Smith. He’s 11.  I’ve been in the back row, we all have.   But we can stand.

I have no idea what this school was thinking. This is idiotic and the Smith family was saddened and outraged. So am I.
