(HatTip GWP) As State Trooper Foerster lay on ground wounded and helpless, Assata Shakur (aka Joanne Chesimard) grabbed his gun and fired two shots into his head. She escaped from prison in 1979 and fled to Cuba in 1984 after living as a fugitive for a few years, and received political asylum. She has been living in Cuba ever since.

(Via Right Wisconsin) Marquette’s Gender and Sexuality Resource Center was set up as a sop to the campus gay lobby in the wake of Marquette’s refusal to hire aggressively lesbian Arts & Sciences dean candidate Jodi O’Brien. Not surprisingly, it has consistently pursued a leftist secular agenda including, for example, the Femsex Seminar, which was so raunchy and so opposed to Marquette’s supposed “Catholic mission” that the Administration ordered that sponsorship be withdrawn.
But now we have yet another case of the extreme leftist agenda of the organization. An entry from its Facebook page: (more…)
This could be a bigger deal that what originally appears on the surface. It’s one of those things that make other things make sense.
For several years people have wondered what would be the specific benefit to foreign entities sending millions of dollars to the Clinton Family Foundation while Hillary was Secretary of State.

Obviously most of the outside interest is directed toward inquiry and concern of a quid-pro-quo relationship between the State Dept and the donor itself.
However, HotAir shares a specific example that might actually make more sense when considering the contributions on a larger context.
The U.S. State Dept is responsible for oversight of sanctions imposed against nation states like Iran and Cuba. If an entity, individual or nation state, wanted to engage in a business deal in direct violation of those sanctions, and do business with Iran or Cuba, a direct donation to the head of the body who would be in charge of the oversight might help your efforts. The president informed Congress of his intent to remove Cuba from the ‘State Sponsors of Terror’ list, a key step in his push to normalize relations with Havana. Lawmakers have 45 days to review the president’s decision before it can be formally approved.
President Obama is more than willing to give Cuba each of the three demands, the only question is the timing for giving up GITMO – and the number of billions we give them.
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Cuban President Raul Castro demanded on Wednesday that ♦ the United States return the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, ♦ lift the half-century trade embargo on Cuba and ♦ compensate his country for damages before the two nations re-establish normal relations.
Castro told a summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States that Cuba and the U.S. are working toward full diplomatic relations but “if these problems aren’t resolved, this diplomatic rapprochement wouldn’t make any sense.”
Castro and President Obama announced on Dec. 17 that they would move toward renewing full diplomatic relations by reopening embassies in each other’s countries. The two governments held negotiations in Havana last week to discuss both the reopening of embassies and the broader agenda of re-establishing normal relations. (more…)
Break out the “Bellbottoms”, dust off the “Earth Shoes”… Similar to establishing ties toward the Palestinian terror network, the Palestinian Authority/HAMAS, President Obama is once again set to complete the unfinished work of Jimmy Carter… this time with Cuba.
HAVANA — Fidel Castro called the building a “nest of spies,” routinely marshaling tens of thousands of people to protest at its doorstep. His government even made a television mini-series with what it called images of American diplomats lurking in a forest nearby, dropping off suspicious bags and marking benches in acts of espionage.

President George W. Bush took swipes of his own, installing a Times Square-style ticker on the building’s side to flash news and political statements. The move so enraged Cuban officials that they erected a thicket of 138 black flags on towering poles to block the sign.
Now the building, the American government’s main outpost in Cuba, for decades a hulking symbol of the tensions between the two countries, is supposed to become something else: a full-fledged embassy operating in the open for the first time in more than five decades. (more…)
