US District Judge Kathleen Cardone, a George W. Bush appointee, issued a preliminary injunction blocking border wall construction in Texas’s Big Bend region and Big Bend National Park.
The scope of Judge Cardone’s order includes patrol roads, border barriers or related infrastructure.
Environmental advocacy group Center for Biological Diversity filed the lawsuit in April and argued that the border wall construction lacked approval from Congress.

$100 is nice… but Medicare Part B Premium is set to go to $210 a month in 2027. It is taken directly from your monthly Social Security. The Part B Medigap deductible is $283 a year.
We already overspend, spend on illegals, victim-flavor-of-the-day, so I believe these “increases” should of lock step and any inflation SSI increase should be above a medicare adjustment.
The gift of $100 to Medicare recipients about covers the monthly Part B premium.
But someone should let President Trump’s people know that historically Part B premiums have risen incrementally year after year.
They have never been reduced by significant amounts and certainly not recently.
Some Medicare drug costs have gone down. But Medicare Advantage and Part D plan premiums, co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles have been on the rise. While Advantage plan perks have gradually disappeared. I sell these plans and there’s no denying that healthcare costs have risen, sometimes dramatically, for treatment and care. Large swaths of seniors are being squeezed.
I wonder if this is how insurance companies will be compensating for their losses from proposed ACA changes.
Yet the USA now enjoys favored nation status with the drug companies -thanks to President Trump- and prescription drug prices are plummeting as we speak!
See, we used to pay a premium for all of our medications, which covered all the socialist countries that give the stuff away. Someone else had to pay for that and that someone else was US!
So now that is over and we are no longer subsidizing the rest of the world’s medications. WHEN will seniors realize this tremendous savings? It’s starting to look like the gas prices which also shouldn’t be so high, yet they still are, because someone is just not playing fairly!

Take building a house. Somebody pays lumberjacks and sells the cut trees. Someboy buys the trees and pays people to cut them into timber. (Investing capital in a saw mill makes the people much more productive. The wood, the saw mill and the workers labors were all paid for.) I buy that cut lumber and hire people to build a house. The people I hire are paid. The house is mine. It does not belong to the lumberjacks. Nor to the laborers who built the sawmill. Nor to the people who built it. Each of them sold their labor and were properly compensated. The money I had saved up and invested in a house has helped compensate all these people. And now, I have a home to live in.
I saved up money from my labor. Used it to get lumber from other peoples labor. And paid yet more people to labor in building me a home.
Anything that claims the compensated laborers own the trees, lumber, or house is just theft.
Take the sawmill. Building it makes the sawing much more productive. The owner invested in tools that enable his employees to cut many more trees and output lots more lumber. He still has to buy those trees and find buyers for that lumber.
It is possible to have employees get together and pool their savings to build their own sawmill, buy the trees and sell the lumber. That is a co-op. They take the risks and collect the profits.
We neither enslave our laborers nor do we fail to compensate them.
That new Iron works is a great example. It will take vast funds of money to pay laborers to construct it. And even vaster funds to buy the resources those laborers use in building it. Once completed, a different set of laborers will take the ore and yarn it into resources for others to use in building other things. Yes, Labor is essential. But labor needs resources, uses tools, and needs direction. And it needs people to risk all that for iffy future rewards.
That gave us the great American Middle Class. The Left hates it because it is independent and an alternative Power Center to their government god.

Digging deep into AI, with regards to the botched execution…and my comment yesterday regarding the (lack of ) use of a gadet called a “vein finder” (on an individual with known IV access issues), a mini device that does what an ultra sound guided IV insertion does, only on a smaller scale, for peripheral veins as opposed to the larger “central” veins….
Apparently, ultra sound guided access, was once suggested for a central line. Going back apparently the burden was not met, as it made it to an evidentiary hearing where it was found that

In 2016 I ended up in a hospital after collapsing. My blood pressure was very low and after several attempts to get a IV started they found a nurse who could find a vein. As you said, it is a common occurrence.
This device must be fairly new. I’m not familiar with it. In the hospital I worked in we had IV nurses who placed all the lines including peripheral central lines. In the later years that department was dissolved and the duty went back to the floor nurses. Doctors did the central lines.
While this woman is in the hospital they should do what was done to our elderly cancer patient family member and that is overdose on morphine. If she is feeling anything she will permanently go to sleep high.
I will wait a few days. If her EEG is flat then the family can decide to stop the ventilator.
Given the massive doses of pentobarb, it could take up to 2 weeks for the effects to not be seen in an EEG…

Georgia’s Republican-controlled State Election Board has formally invited the Trump Department of Justice to step in and shut down the Peach State’s unverifiable, QR-code voting system before voters start casting ballots in the 2026 midterms.
In a September 30 letter to Attorney General Todd Blanche, State Election Board Executive Director James Mills asked the DOJ to prohibit the use of “unreadable, unverifiable QR-code-based vote tabulation and any other electronic tabulation method that does not permit the voter to verify the vote that is actually counted,” concerning Georgia’s Dominion voting system, now owned by Liberty Vote USA.
Mills also asked Blanche to set a binding six-month deadline, forcing Georgia to dump the machines and move to a system with voter-verifiable, hand-auditable paper records.

When my Army surgeon dad returned from his stint in the Korean War, he became head of the burn unit at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio where all badly burned service men were treated. I remember how terrified of fire he was because of what he saw and treated.
I remember also reading a story in Life Magazine written by a Burn Nurse like you, Aggie…a Pediatric Burn Nurse. In it she described in terrible, excruciating detail what her little patients had to endure. I must have been about 11 when I read it

That was no easy task…my story started around age 8 after having read two articles in Reader’s Digiest. “I am Joe’s skin” perhaps? The other was a surgeon writing about his internship and resdency experiences …stayed with me all these years…I can still remember some the description of the intern’s first surgical incision…he was terrified…
