According to CNN, current Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton is likely to be appointed the AI/SI Czar. If that is accurate, and not a leak trap – which considering the source is sketchy, then that leaves the DNI position open again.
(VIA CNN) – President Donald Trump is expected to pick Jay Clayton to be the White House’s new czar of artificial intelligence, two sources familiar with the discussion told CNN.
The president could announce his decision about Clayton, who is director of national intelligence, as early as Friday, one of the sources said.
Trump announced last month that he was planning to create an “AI Force” and name an AI czar as the government faces growing calls to impose guardrails on the technology’s rapid development.
Trump gathered several AI and technology CEOs at the White House on Tuesday for a meeting that culminated in the signing of a new commitment aimed at better “self-policing” their companies’ AI models. (read more)
If it is accurate that Clayton is going to the Super Intelligence Czar position, and considering the sudden reappearance last week at the White House, is there a possibility of someone returning to the administration as DNI?

Clayton will hold both positions. Tulsi Gabbard is NOT returning to administration.
If she does return, you know she and her team have been diligently planning the reprise.

Not that I’m insinuating anything, but it sure is weird how sudden illnesses seem to occur to people of a certain political bent.
I’m thinking that at a minimum the White House wanted Tulsi to be seen because just having her walk through sploded a few lefty heads. A shot across the bow. It would be great to have her back but having her visit every week or two for “consultations” goes a long way toward getting something? done.
I concur with the young man and his canine companion…..please Lord…bring Tulsi back. (Do you think that she’ll be able to be confirmed after her last confirmation hearing embarrassed a few DSA members of the Senate?)

No disrespect intended; but that is not true.
Positions presidents can make appointments to, but which require Senatorial confirmation (referred to as offices in the Constitution), are either already created by the Constitution, or newly created by Congress as the need arises.
A president is empowered to appoint ambassadors, public ministers and consuls, Supreme Court justices, and all other “officers of the United States.”
Those persons appointed by the president, not the offices they are appointed to fill, are what must be confirmed by the Senate.
Offices a president can make appointments to are formally referred to as Principal Offices.
I’m not sure this resolves the question of Gabbard being required to be reconfirmed by the Senate; but I think common sense suggests otherwise. In fact, I’m almost 100% sure I remember references here on CTH to certain Trump appointees (maybe potential appointees…) being safe from the confirmation process because they had previously been confirmed for some other office.
That would be great! Clayton could use his time as DNI to do a good job as SI Czar, while Gabbard could have her “Gandalf the White” moment and devastate the globalists working against the MAGA agenda. Hope springs eternal.

Thinking down the road, this combination of responsibilities may become permanently fused given the complexity of the AI universe and the nature of the IC to make all things non transparent and impenetrable.

Per Sundance’s Update, Tulsi is not coming back, “not going to be part of the Administration.” If this is true, what was she doing at the White House, and if her visit had to do with the DNI position, what happened? Did something go wrong?

Jay Clayton, as far as I am concerned, falls into the same camp as IG Horowitz, long-time Swamp Dweller’s who are as far from America First as could’ve been selected by PDJT.
