President Trump has revoked the special white house access privileges of CNN, MSNow and Politico. Those outlets and all of the other self-centered media allies who make everything about themselves, have promised to file lawsuits.
The media claim that President Trump has removed their First Amendment rights by revoking their special White House access cards, seats on Airforce One and privilege tents on the white house grounds. Apparently, if the media don’t get the luxuries of influence they claim their rights are removed – or something equally stupid.

It is clear that there is no 1st Amendment right to have access to White House grounds or buildings. But — is there not an “equal protection” argument to be made if access is given to some, but not others?

Sure, that is what they will argue. And they might win with that argument, even if they do not get their case before a rogue leftist judge. All the same, PT is making a great and correct point about those outlets being lying leftist propaganda generators and are not performing any kind of objective truthful reporting (many of the others aren’t doing that either, but these three are arguably the worst).
I think that if PT loses the case and has to let them back in, then his press secretary and all of his administration officials should just ignore all the reporters from those three outlets. Let them wear out their arms waving to ask a question. Just don’t ever call on one of them.

No. If there was an equal protection aspect to freedom of the press, then anyone calling themselves a journalist would be entitled to access.
Clearly, that’s not the case.

It’s a matter of national security. There are thousands of people in the US with press credentials, but the WH staff isn’t equipped to accommodate all of them at once. They have a few “slots” open which are granted to a handful of press people at the President’s discretion. Those passes can be revoked at any time and granted to other applicants.
“Equal protection” has never applied to restricted White House access, which is a privilege currently granted to multiple but not all independent news outlets… the press has equal access to any area open to the public, but privileged areas have always been at the pleasure of POTUS and his staff. Obama played this card many times during his tenure…

The legal pickers of nits will sort it all out after much hairpulling but where I think it will eventually land is here: Protection does not equate with privilege. And protection under the law implies certain responsibilities equally applicable to the protected and the protector.

A good friend who’s daughter is lesbian told me that Gov DeSantis was “taking away” the rights of LGBTQ people in Florida when he banned Drag Queen Story hour in Florida Elementary Schools.
I explained that nobody had rights to have Drag Queen Story hours in public Elementary Schools which exist to teach reading, writing and arithmetic which my taxes pay for.
Somehow the news media keeps pushing non-existent rights for the Democrats and ignoring actual rights that exist for us!
The most accessible POTUS in my lifetime, despite (at least) 3 assassination attempts. Why weren’t these “news” networks whining when the Autopen was “leading” our country? How many pressers did he give? How often did he answer unscripted questions, without a cheat sheet in front of him with prepared answers? That would be NEVER.
As an aside, I don’t think the American taxpayer should be footing the bill for the media to travel on Air Force One, regardless of where their sympathies lie. Get to work on your own dime, just like the rest of us.

Hey, it’s not like there isn’t competition out there. Plenty of online “networks” would be happy to share in broadcasting the President’s words. Put it on YouTube and you will get a younger demographic. Plenty of “influencers” would eagerly participate. I suspect that broadcast TV viewers trend heavily to the over 40 crowd.

Why did Valerie Jarrett get unfettered special access to the family floor of the of the Obama WH for eight years ? To the point she was called the Night Stalker for her privileged evening access to The One.
Congress has made no law. No one has abridged the freedom of the press. The press is still free to make things up, spout their propaganda and say virtually anything that they like, without fear of prosecution. They are said to be preparing a lawsuit, so no one has removed that avenue of redress. That said, special access to the White House is a privilege, not a right! It is a privilege that must be earned and that’s as it should be. That doesn’t mean that all news organizations should be expected to parrot the administration. But, why does CNN need intimate access, when they have no intention of reporting what is actually being said in the briefings? There is only a limited amount of room in the press briefing room, so let’s get some “New Media” folks in there to displace CNN and their (America hating) fellow travelers.
POTUS should not need to spend one single minute, forced to undo the widely broadcast MSM intentional lies and misrepresentations hurled at him daily. Stop wasting his time, and our time.
