This was a really good comprehensive interview. This Canadian Economics professor seems grounded in reality. He points out that the Canadian government needs to have a serious talk with Canadians about how much trouble their economy is in.
He points out that the US grievances Trump has with Canada did not start with Trump. It goes back to Reagan. Every US President has told Canada they have these same grievances. The only difference is that Trump wants to do something about it, and is.
He points out that
America trades less than any other country. 85% of American GDP is American business dealing with another American business. Only 15% is trade with other countries.
We seem to be more self reliant than I realized, which is a good thing, IMO.

People buy new IPhones every 4-5 years because they used the old one as a laptop, internet and a phone so much that it needs replacement. I sit at my Apple Laptop once a year in April to do my taxes. Everything else is done with my IPhone. That’s innovation!
Why? I don’t understand why people buy 100 inch tv’s but do their computing on a 6″ cell phone.

I asked a question and Darkhorse answered it fairly well although I’m still confused how anyone could analyze a spreadsheet loaded with 50 points of data on a 6″ phone. As an ex tax assessor we used 3, 20″ screens when analyzing data because it’s more efficient to just look and think, instead of whipping around a scroll function. You simply can’t see different sets of data at the same time on a tiny screen.
Anyway, I don’t think Darkhorse was dictating, but rather expressing preferences. Having conversations about how to do stuff is called networking and can lead to better methods, for most people.
I’m old enough that I would prefer the spreadsheet on the 85″ screen!

Yes it can. I had the battery replaced on my old Iphone 5 because I had a FLIR camera that attached to it that was used to look for hot spots in electrical equipment. Easier to do that than buy an expensive new camera when the current one works perfectly well.

When we needed to replace our phones (the operative word being “needed”), we saw a T Mobile ad which cut our ever rising Verizon bill virtually in half. ” Free Phones” caught our eye, and so we signed up only to receive a pre bill showing they weren’t “Free” at all but amortized.
Went back and spoke to the personable, knowledgeable rep and pointed out the, I’ll assume, misdirection or worse, fraudulent sales pitch. T mobile said “Free” and we signed up on that basis.
A quick word with his manager, and PRESTO!! New IPhone 14s at no charge.
So fair play, they honoured their advertisement.
Side note: We needed to cut costs, and so a couple of months later we ditched the exorbitant ATT internet and signed with T Mobile. Excellent service at over 1/2 of histhe eye watering cost of Verizon and ATT combined. And as we are seniors, we were able to secure an “over 55” plan…this month saving $87. Not chump change by any stretch 👍🏻
