Yesterday you might have seen explosive headlines around the world proclaiming the airplane carrying Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Moldova was hit or almost hit by a drone strike. It never happened. It was entirely FAKE NEWS.
This is, once again, why we continue to refer to this conflict as ‘World War Reddit’. Almost every report about the Russia-Ukraine conflict is fake, fabricated, made up out of nothing. The drone strike story was entirely manufactured. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre made it up.
The reality is the drone in question was detected inside Ukraine over 160km from where Zelenskyy was in Chisinau International Airport. Zelenskyy and/or Moldova itself was never under any threat.
“After 5:20 p.m. (local time, 4:20 p.m. Paris time), authorities confirmed that the drone had fallen and exploded about 160 km from Chisinau International Airport. Flight restrictions were then lifted and the Ukrainian president’s plane took off later than planned,” he added. A source in the Ukrainian presidency told AFP that Zelensky was at the slightest risk was “exaggerated”. {SOURCE}

The drone was flying and landed somewhere in that RED BOX, deep inside Ukraine, 160 kilometers from Chisinau.

Turned out to be a fun night.

Russia actually shares a border with Norway … after the WWII and the 1939 Russo-Finish War, the port of Petsamo and much of the mining region of Petsamo, Finland was ceded to the USSR (Russia).
About 2-weeks ago the Norwegians made a big deal about a special Arctic Warfare Combat Task Force they were forming to combat Russian aggression in the area.
This is just a continuation and add on to the hype … alongside Finland piping up again about Russian aggression.
From the USSR Cold War days … a USMC Battalion Landing Team and UK Royal Marine Commando Battalion Landing Team used to run annual joint exercises with elite Norwegian Arctic Combat Units in this region. The US also used keep a POMCUS site of Pre-Positioned Equipment in Norway as well. Not sure if the USMC still runs the exercise bu the UK Royal Marines are SOL because the UK Mod sold off and scrapped all their amphib stuff. Plus, not even sure if the UK RAF has enough aircraft to fly the Marines or Para’s to Norway … maybe the Uk can rent a Norwegian Cruise Liner.

The idea is that it provides equipment and supplies to support a Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) of roughly 15,000 Marines in intense combat for 30 days.
There are many exercises held with partners in the region to test and train with the equipment. Exercises Cold Response, Nordic Response, Joint Viking, Trident Juncture and Exercise Reindeer 11 are still conducted.
