The FDA hasn’t protected us from poor quality food for many, many years. They’re even less discerning than the CDC, if that’s possible.
The same companies will sell products in the USA that are outright banned elsewhere. Here, they get away with selling all their crap that other countries will not accept.

I went to work wondering if she would hurt the baby…
I know now desiccated thyroid, methylfolate, (NOT FOLIC ACID) & B12 would likely have relieved her suffering. The same things that can reduce the chances of miscarriage.
We had multiple tragic experiences in our family, the doctor wanted to put me on an antidepressant and all the antidepressants they wanted to put me on had a side effect of suicide.
I got a Christian grief therapist instead.
Got into a weekly Bible study and read the Bible daily.
Got completely off social media except for this site.
The drugs would have just masked all the feelings, it would have come out later and worse.

I’m reminded of the prophet Jeremiah who was tasked with prophesizing to the faithful remnant in Jerusalem that he did not recognize.
By all appearances he was ignored in public concerning prophesy of coming judgement, for those faithful few that needed to hear the message it made a difference.
The takeaway is that God will preserve a faithful remnant, but it does not mean things will be easy.

In my opinion this may take a while maybe even years to accomplish but this will mean real quality beef at a decent price to the local consumer and a much better return for farmers and ranchers. Win win except for Big Ag and all the middle men.

For example – you read a news story about “so many hundred thousand pounds of [cabbage], which were delivered to restaurants [X], [Y], and [Z], have been recalled.” Notice that the problem was identified, “in real time,” and likewise tracked. Fast enough to become “boring.”
That statement not only affirms the existence of a sophisticated inspection process, but also a tracking process. Which is precisely(!) what “380 million food-eating people” require.
Like so many things, “it ain’t simple.”
I’m willing to buy from the ranchers. I have more faith in them than the packing houses.
It’s a good idea and one that is long overdue. From the way it’s worded this is not just beef producers but all farm and ranch products.
If so it should finally give relief to the dairy farmers and the sellers of raw milk.
Ranchers processing their own cattle will have to have what may be of utmost important in protections put into place because all of the 4 “cattle cartels” are going to minimise the full profits that Brazilian politicians (the records are out there in public) who have been pocketing for themselves. Also keep an eye on Brazilian owned front companies and those that enabled anti-competitive pricing; even though the case was apparently solved just days before the meatpacking probe was announced.

Interesting. It is a ways out to build out the shipyard capacity to handle such certainly.
Though… the new battleship proposed for the US Navy is apparently now expected to have nuclear propulsion by using the same naval reactors as the carriers. The big problem with that is a needing another nuclear rated yard that isn’t tied up already with existing shipbuilding programs like the Ford carriers or Columbia submarines.
There would be opportunity for a shipyard in building commercial and military hulls at that scale. Being able to do both with nuclear propulsion could get them a lot of business.
Possibly, if it can get out the gate in the next couple of years. Doubtful if it actually happens with the deindustrialization agenda over as many years.
With all the experience and design data the US Navy has for building Nuclear Powered Carriers, Submarines and Cruisers …. push to make merchant ships “more green” now combined with recent cost of marine diesel … may be the push needed to get started.
Maybe actually something good related to the green new deal … by accident.
The Submarine SSN Nautilus was put into service in 1954 (3,400 Tons, current subs are pushing 10,000 Tons).
The Aircraft Carrier CVN-65 Enterprise (well over 100,000 Tons) entered service in 1958.
The Cruiser CGN-9 Longbeach (15,500 Tons) entered service in 1961.
As a child I’d love to read Bjorn Landstrom’s ‘The Ship’, a beautifully illustrated history of all sea going vessels. The last page had a painting of man pushing a crude dug-out canoe into the grey sea and steaming behind it, as if to emphasise the progress man had made, was the NS Savannah.
I used to look at that picture, at her sleek and graceful lines, gliding along, and wonder what the future held. Of course, the books dream of sleek and near silent vessels, with unlimited range, was never realised, but who knows. Perhaps they will ply the seas half a century after that evocative image of maritime progress was created.
Not sure it this has been posted but seems like some Canadians are a little upset and frustrated with Carney.
