“Dolly Rebecca Parton (January 19, 1946 – August 25, 2026) Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.
Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).”

One of my granddaughters asked her mother about 6 years ago who was the First Lady?
Her little sister was engrossed in a book. But before my daughter could answer, and without looking up from her book, she said without missing a beat, “Dolly Parton”.
Well, maybe not First Lady…but a lady always.

As you might expect, here in the Nashville area all of the TV stations are providing wall to wall testimonials and tributes to Dolly already.
The lady was a unique example of an entertainer who could relate to everyone; who was nice to everyone; and who had a work ethic that most people — especially Leftists — could never understand.

He concludes the message with a short recollection of a conversation he had with his aunt. She wanted to be buried in cotton, because cotton is soft, and after decades in rhinestones she wanted to finally be comfortable.
Very sad news 🙁 Dolly Parton was a beautiful soul who cared deeply about her community. Her charitable works, her humanity and grace are a huge loss to us all. Thankfully, she left many blessings, for us to continue to enjoy, with her many songs and places she created out of love.
One of my favorite songs of hers is “Jolene” and the back story is that a beautiful bank teller was making eyes at her new husband LOL! So many others…

On a hiking trip in Turkey a number of years ago, and it seemed every cafe and road stop was playing “I will always love you” – except it was Whitney Houston’s rendition, but Dolly’s song writing had gone global and deep well into the Muslim world too. RIP – true success is happiness with one’s self, and yours was truly infectious.
I have a friend who worked for Dolly as a tour tech for a few years. He said she was one of the nicest people he ever met and as genuine as she appeared to be. God bless her soul and welcome her into your kingdom.
