CLAIM: Over the past 48 hours, multiple media outlets have reported several false claims related to USS Abraham Lincoln’s (CVN 72) deployment to the Middle East. One report alleged seven Sailors died in a brawl aboard the aircraft carrier and others have recently suggested a spike in suicidal ideations. These reports are FALSE.
FACT: USS Abraham Lincoln has maintained among the highest crew reenlistment rates (84.4%) of all aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy. The Sailors and Marines of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group remain resilient and resolved after more than 260 days at sea, 10,000 aircraft flights, and 1.5 million pounds of ordnance expended. No service members aboard the aircraft carrier have died, and the one Sailor who fell overboard Aug. 3 was quickly and safely recovered. The rampant misreporting on Abraham Lincoln’s historic deployment is a disservice to our men and women in uniform and their loved ones.
I view this weak sauce from the media as an effort to move on from the terrible news for the democrats in the primaries.

I know you are aware that during WWII, servicemen knew their term was “the duration.” Implicit was – if at all.
My folks were married in 1943 – Dad took off for parts (unknown to her), and returned in November 1945. No FaceTime in those days, and your v-mail was censored.
This is not to demean those in service today, I have utmost respect. Just a different perspective.
If memory serves, my friends and family who served in Viet Nam served a mandatory 1 year. My bil was counting the days to meet his new son.

Here’s the fact! Service people gripe! They have griped for as long as there have been organized Armies and Navies. They have always spread rumors commonly called scuttlebutt.
But now on social media those gripes can be broadcast and amplified to make them seem like something much more serious than they really are. Same goes for scuttlebutt! Rumors that are not true or can be taken out of context will be used by those that seek to paint the military as inept, or to try and paint a false picture of incompetence or low moral.
The news media in the country in general is the enemy of the service person and of the Armed forces. Twice during my time in service they put my life in danger.
As DJT has said many times, media Is the enemy of our country.

on the wildflowers album.. it is sparse on instruments.. tom on piano (which he said he didn’t play very well) and tom’s dear friend michael kamen arranged and conducted the orchestra.. and this is the part i loved . tom said he was so in awe of hearing an orchestra play a song he wrote…( being just a boy from gainesville), that he had the version of just the orchestra, that he still listened to frequently in his home …. it was special and he loved it.
