This would seem like a no-brainer, but multiple nations are so dependent on abusing the de minimis process the multinationals actually sued the United States for eliminating the $800 de minimis tariff exception.
On August 29, 2025, the U.S. government eliminated the de minimis threshold for all countries via Executive Order 14324, making the rule apply regardless of origin. {SEE HERE} Chinese companies like Shein and Temu are subject to paying import taxes to ship cheap products into the USA.
Truth Social – BIG WIN today at the U.S. Court of International Trade on one of the most DESPICABLE loopholes in American Trade Policy — The so-called “de minimis” exemption.
For years, Foreign Shippers could send packages worth up to $800 into our Country, DUTY FREE, NO TARIFF, far less scrutiny. It became a giant loophole for TARIFF Cheats — and a Pipeline exploited by Fentanyl Traffickers, Counterfeiters, and other Criminals shipping dangerous and illegal products into America. The numbers were staggering. In 2024 alone, de minimis cost America an estimated 10.8 BILLION DOLLRS in foregone TARIFF Revenue, and an astonishing share of narcotics and counterfeit seizures came through the de minimis channel. So, we CLOSED IT. With the stroke of my mighty pen — NO AUTOPEN!!! — we ended this ridiculous giveaway, and made Foreign Goods play by the rules. The Importers sued. Today, THEY LOST. The Court ruled that the President had the Legal Authority to rescind this so-called “privilege.”
America is now SAFER, our Workers are better protected, and BILLIONS in TARIFF Revenue that used to slip through this loophole can instead help pay for our Great Military, Tax Relief, NO TAX ON TIPS, and NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY. AMERICA FIRST TRADE — AND AMERICA FIRST LAW ENFORCEMENT!

Sad Panda..
At this rate Panda is going to eventually need antidepressants.
And some counseling from a good psycho-bear-apist
Too funny! How long have you been waiting to use that lol?
Ever since hibernation ended
This one is better than the ‘psycho-bear-apist’!
Paging Wordman…cleanup on aisle 3!! Actually, very witty. I applaud thee:)
Pandas can be dangerous.
A panda walks into a Restaurant…
He eats shoots and leaves 🙂
I don’t care what anyone thinks, I’m going to steal that one!👍
One of your best!
That was for wordman!
nice
Holy moly wordman that’s one of your best that’s a big laugh out loud.
It think it should read Panda walks into a Chinese restaurant!
An American panda ?
I’m not ashamed to admit I had to read it twice… Now I can’t stop LOLing.
Punctuation! matters!
Let’s eat Grandma!
Let’s eat, Grandma!
I like cooking my pets and my friends.
I like cooking, my pets, and my friends.
Proper punctuation saves lives.
You ‘beet’ me to it!
Hooray for the Oxford comma!
‘Let’s eat Grandma!’
… was also used for the title of a book about punctuation.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8600.Eats_Shoots_Leaves
I have that book!!!
I’d like to bye a comma or too.
<smiles>
Brav (freakin’) O! LOL
Masterful, again!
Amazing!
I’m convinced Wordman™️ is perched on top of a mountain somewhere, stroking his long white beard while a receding line of pupils queues up, waiting for their chance to query the grammatical guru. 😆
You were always one of my late husband’s favorite treepers. I believe I can hear him chuckling from his seat in Heaven. Thanks
Depends where you put the (Oxferd) comma!
I bow to the master, have mercy on this little grasshopper o great Wordman(TM)
We will provide them at astronomical price maybe!!!
Pretty sure I saw some pigs flying past the Oval Office 😎👍🏻
A lot of products from Temu, have made it over to Amazon…and the prices are higher at Amazon.
I and a friend of mine both looked up the price of an item on Amazon but we did it through a generic Google search, clicked on the link to AMZN, and were shown a price. We weren’t logged in on our amazon account.
Then we went to our Amazon account to see the exact same item. For me, instead of $8 with no login it was $11 under my account. The price for my friend went up $10 when she saw the price under her account.
That caused me to cancel my prime account. Now I price shop for everything that competes with amazon.
That price difference is directly related to the fees that Amazon imposes on their third party sellers which can be up to 30% of the sellers asking price. Not to ring Amazons bell, but the value from purchasing or selling for that matter on Amazon is not the price. For the buyers, its they can get a refund for literally any reason no questions asked and for sellers it’s market exposure and volume.
That is correct, Aggiegirl! Aveda products are cheaper at Aveda than Amazon!
Is the spelling of the company….Aveeno ? Thank you.
There are hair and skin products by Aveda.
There a ton of videos of people showing the crap Temu and Shein sells. They take the old “you get what you pay for” to a whole new level.
China will just have to grin bear it.
Close!
Yep..ones he manufactured themselves
How about some of their own fentanyl?
Good.
Decades of corrupt leadership letting the world loot us until Sheriff Trump came to town.
Our greedy, venial corruptocrats took their measly payoffs while foreigners made bazillions off our country. On top of everything else they are crappy deal makers.
Gotta wonder if all the fraud, waste and abuse monies will stay within the border now!? Good grief. You can’t even joke about it. The joke has been on us “We the People”.. Spitting so hard right now the asphalt has holes in it. Pfffttt.
That’s some high caliber spittin’, WorkforHim. I think I’ll just put a match to my stash of fireworks I saved for Memorial Day and aim it towards DC.
On second thought, nah….I’m not gonna waste it on those losers.
And how long have we been suckered into consumerism, via the low prices of Walmart?
At least since the early ’90’s and maybe before then.
For junk we think we must have only to throw it out a couple of years later.
When the Ds will sell us out for less than free and the Rs for next to nothing, it might just be possible that they are something worse than crappy deal makers.
Hanlon’s razor only works on the first few instances of something. After that, a dull razor is worse than no razor.
Perzactly. The ChiComs had help in Washington, DC. Some people call them politicians and elites. I call them parasites.
Meanwhile, the CCP inches closer to the financial abyss and the EU is barely hanging on by a thread.
Trillions are at stake. Politics by other means will be pursued, best be ready for it.
Hope we can give the ccp a little push or a big shove!!!
If only President Trump could get a little support rather than roadblocks. Just a little support.
That ship has sailed.
Republicans don’t like it when Trump primary endorsed candidates win repeatedly over incumbents.
So, I hope President Trump keeps endorsing candidates after he retires.
American voters hate their elected and unelected government. There is no doubt anymore.
The 10.8 billion in tariffs lost, amounts to about 2.4% of total Chinese exports in 2024. Or, about $31 bucks per American citizen per year. It won’t buy you a steak dinner.
Thank you Sundance!! We love the great news, our nations bondage gets free of them sucking us dry.
Poor Panda.
Hey I know, the Chinese can buy their own sh_t just order everyone in China needs 12 TV’s per house, they’ll just tax the rich and voila free TV’s. Hmm…I wonder would it work this time? You know, it just hasn’t been tried by the right people.
You want the return of a true middle class again, start making things again…MAGA!
Finally. We don’t pander to Panda!
Anther good one!
Wordman is going to lose out to the competition…I have noticed lots of Treepers have incredible senses of humor and creativity with the spoken/written word!
Will you trade your anther for an antler?
As stated before, there will never be another POTUS like Trump….at least during my lifetime.
Perhaps that’s because you’re an old fart? 😉 –Ahem- “barking spider”
Albeit a good initiative delayed by courts (again),
that (article post ) includes an excellent statement by the trump administration
that selflessly helps we the people via fair trade practices
with our neighbors.
Love thy neighbors…
Thanks, SD, that’s my favorite panda & my favorite President!
Seriously only CONgress & a complicit executive branch could screw up imports this bigly and only PDJT would step up & fix it.
Screwing up imports…by design…everything is imported. Or stashed in a warehouse.
There also was a massive front loading effort of importing goods ahead of the effective tariff dates to minimize the duties collected.
Unfortunately for the importers, warehouse space stateside costs money.
I noticed the difference on my last two Europe purchases. I was billed the tariff and paid it. This loop hole was huge and glad it is closed.
More innovation will occur at home. Take a bit, but entrepreneurs will see benefit in being able to offer something at or better priced.
I’d like to know how many companies are charging a “tariff” fee on the whole price just to pocket the extra knowing most people don’t understand it’s only the cost of the product to the importer not the sale price.
I would be speculating that all of them do that to the retail price to a degree and some more flagrantly like Amazon.
It was not long ago that these corporations won the suit for tariff refunds. Okay… then why would they then get that back when they supposedly passed on the tariffs on the wholesale value to the consumer? Talk about the courts handing them a windfall.
Then they get to go around and parrot the “prices have gone up because of tariffs” mantra and CONservative Inc repeat it ad naseum.
Yeah this will make it harder for me to get some things but I’m still in favor of it. Small prices to pay.
Winning.
Duh!
My question would be along these lines…how are products in the “bonded warehouses” treated in terms of being taxed/tariffed?
From my limited understanding…there are many items that have been ‘warehoused’ over long periods of time and not released ‘until needed’, some 2-3 years later…and seem to be taxed/tariffed at a different rate…and only when the items are released to go to their ‘destination’ store.
So are we losing money in that scenario?
Per Google: A bonded warehouse is a secure storage facility supervised by customs authorities where imported goods are kept without paying duties or taxes right away. Duties are only paid when the items enter the local market, and taxes are avoided entirely if the goods are re-exported.
My guess is that most quick-ship goods from China and other placess do not use bonded warehouses.
$3 Lipstick from China can’t arrive tomorrow. They use warehouses.
President Trump is the preeminent delegator and negotiator in any global
leadership position. He can smell bad deals before he sees them. And his
all-star team of Cabinet Secretaries and other appointees work tirelessly
to rectify the mistakes left by prior so-called leaders. We are blessed to
have him!
Rectify mistakes… I don’t believe they were mistakes.
They were not.
Great Victory.
But it is also good to see Auto Pen abuse is on the President’s mind.
SD appears to not sleep at all or very little just like our DJT.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your efforts to inform us CTH Treepers.
Off topic…I apologize… but Ukraine is attacking Russian Submarine base on Crimea and Libya. Wonder who is supplying weapons and who is paying for this? I pray it’s not USA taxpayer money or weapons.
(snip) Reuters: A massive Ukrainian infrastructure attack successfully cut off the power supply to the city of Sevastopol, while drone strikes on energy infrastructure in Zawiya, Libya, took over 700 MW of power offline
Liber8tor said, “Off topic…I apologize…”
My response….I apologize: So. Either you haven’t read the comment guidelines or you read them and decided they don’t apply to you.
You mean like the dozens of posts playing games with puns?
American politicians and their favored backers have far too long been pandering to vested interests.
Cut off this pipeline and their source of ill gotten gain.
Huge win. Watch Canada sue when Trump withdraws from the USMCA.
Let them sue when Canada is going the one to walk away from the USMCA.
Then the farce will be complete.
Dubya was the one who first started handing out tax breaks to anybody who would move their workforce offshore. 17 years later, and Trump is the first leader with the cojones to even begin slowing-down the exfiltration of American wealth. Here’s to many more steps taken to bring our manufacturing independence back home!
Amen to that!
And W smoked them out of their holes and did something over there so they wouldn’t do it here and now they are still doing it over there and they are invading here. No more idiot TX presidents. They f*** everything up.
No more TX presidents. Remember, “clap please”.
Dumb as dirt.
I work in manufacturing, the first time I was affected by offshoring was under Reagan, sometime around 1982. our bread and butter customer, American Telecommunication, pulled all production work and tooling and sent it to Taiwan. We went from a busy 15 man shop down to a 5 man shop and really struggled to keep the doors open. The owner ended up committing suicide.
A couple more times under Reagan, but that’s another story.
We do not deserve this very stable genius Preident DJT. The love this man has for this country, the honesty, tranparency, the bluntness bringing into the light things that no one ever knew and solving them only to be countered bij the buzzing shitflies foreign-born federal judges 9and some domestic ones too, coulored DEi-hires and liberal white AWFUL’s but he still charges on. The USA had almighty God himself protect this man for his Biblical mission in life. And his sense of humour! Not one of his wives speaks ill of him, not one of his children and grandkids disrespect him, he is feared and respected because of the right reasons (allthough I wish he would just MOAB the iranians to the middle ages and not give leeway every time. The art of the deal does not apply for people that want nothing but your destruction. The years of litigation, Big Tish and the small fat ugly one, in freezing cold courtrooms just to humiliate him, the harrasment, the MaL-raid, the deleting out of movies, the cursing him, the ridicule, the derangement actors, the despicable lying media, the debanking. Since the beginning with Hillary’s earpiece, her digital lectern, the grab-em-tape, the epstein smears, everything he has withstood, this man will be BiBLiCAL in his legacy! His chiseled face just belongs on Rushmore. Judge a man by his enemies and his are a formidable demonic legion: Comey, Carney, Merkel, Macron, Dimon, Musk, Soros, Pelosi, Thune (self inflicted by bad judgement), McCain, McConnell, Boehner et al. Still a lion that has no fear, speaks the truth. How the searched to find but could not dig up dirt, tax-returns were clean. In Manhattan he reached the top and still had clean hands. Who knows he chartered a plane for Mandela to visit american cities? We are blessed to be witnesses of God’s chosen one. Amen!
Imho,
the USA people have earned consecutive terms of
the teams with
Washington
Lincoln
Reagon
Trump
and
several other good teams.
Yay!
I believe that much of this “make it here” LACK, has been the fading away over the years, of pride in self-accomplishment. It may take considerable time to set this right in America… perhaps never in some Countries.
Yep. Pride has to be restored in having a productive job and that means doing hard work. There was a time when people respected others work.
After WWII, we made damned near everything. We had to. ‘You can’t win a war with bullets made on a foreign shore’. That was in a screw machine journal, as a quote from WWII. From foundry work, to machine tool manufacturing, to electronics, wire drawing, punch press work, screw machine work…..we did it ALL! We had thousands of small and large foundries in the USA. Machine shops large and small, from garage operations to factories so large they were hidden under camouflage nets depicting small towns, streets and all, on the netting. Up into the 1970’s, we had it all. WE were a nation, all for one, and one for all. Now with the foreign invasion, I don’t know if that feeling of nationality will ever be recovered. Deport all the foreigners and make Islam illegal in the western hemisphere….or the whole world!
It’s a whole new world now. Smaller and faster. Somewhere in the US a designer emails their design to Guangzhou and it’s uploaded to a machine. Production starts immediately. This is what the designer was looking for after visiting multiple companies in the US and they all said they would look at it and come back with an answer in the future or they just turn it down.
In a fast moving market the ones who get their products on the shelf first usually win the game.
One of the major frustrations is creating a successful product in America, selling it, improving on it, expanding your line to include related products, and watching in puzzlement as orders suddenly fall off, only to soon find out that your products have been cloned in China and are now selling at a price that would bankrupt you to match.
This has happened over and over and over again to Americans for decades now, from tiny side-gig Etsy craftspeople to companies with hundreds of employees.
I don’t hate China, but I hate this unabashed predation.
obama IIRC destroyed the patent system here.
“to soon find out that your products have been cloned in China and are now selling at a price that would bankrupt you to match.

^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^
The question is, why would they have standing? Why would any country have legal standing to oppose our country’s regulations?
Everyone in the world now has standing in U.S. courts, except American citizens who challenge election results.
Sovereignty is inconvenient for some.
Nation-states have borders, jurisdictions and domains of influence. Collectivists would just as soon erase boundaries everywhere as they are inconveniences for them to be not be done away with.
Can you get standing, if you pay someone enough money? Is standing for sale?
Glad this happened but I’m still not loving this whole ‘court decides what’.
I thought this was a republic?
https://dailycaller.com/2026/08/13/exclusive-ccp-intel-official-building-purchase-steps-from-white-house/
CCP Intel Official Buys Building steps from White House
Is this true?
The increased tariff revenue will mean no tax on Social Security?
Yeah… I’ll believe that when I see it. So far THAT promise remains BROKEN
It is sure funny the only way that these nations make any money is when they cheat us Americans.
Does it say more of the wealth generated by the industry of America’s people or of others who would rather loot America then emulate what works?
I was a customs inspector, sworn in when Reagan was president.
De minimus (used to be $5, then $200) shipments enter primarily thru post offices and ECCFs (express consignment courier facilities such as DHL).
Sundance has pointed out the abuse and vulnerabilities with the $800 de minimus (19CFR1321, aka Section 321) But an additional problem is massive undervaluation leading to loss of revenue. US Customs moved away from issuing fraud penalties in the 90s. In fact in 1996 an Asst District Director ordered me to stop turning in such penalties, and informed me the FP&F (Fines Penalties and
Forfeitures) office would not issue them. HQ did not want them, he said. I wrote them up anyway. And was pretty good at it. Don’t think these are always small shipments. For example, 1000 pounds of bearings declared/entered at $100, worth over
$50,000. Another pile of money the taxpayers are entitled to. These cases sometimes lead to more cases, and revenue recovery.
Radio Shack and lots of other great US companies were destroyed by tariff free shipments from China,
in addition to Amazon’s subsidized US Post Office rates.
This is appropriate action to limit import abuses. It is late, but really needed. In addition, IMESHO, retailers should focus on limiting imports from the PRC.
