Several people sent me this video with comments about DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin appearing to be hesitant on deporting illegal aliens. I watched ready to chew (in typeset) his head off. However, I don’t see that amnesty aspect as part of his commentary.
On the illegal alien workers, I structurally disagree with every single person who have used that argument for the past 20 years. We do not need illegal alien workers, not even in the agricultural sector. The illegal farm worker argument is a ruse, created by Big Ag, and promoted by smaller Ag to protect their bottom line and themselves from criticism.
Remove all illegal alien farm workers, deport them. Big Ag will handle it the same way Big Tobacco did and Big Cotton did before them. A combination of higher wages, extended farm worker visas and technology will bridge the gap. We do not need illegal alien workers in any sector; the issue drives illegal trafficking and underground criminal activity. Deport all illegal aliens.
We need 1 million+ deportations every month. Cut illegal aliens off from every subsidy program, enforce employment law with jail time for corporate executives, remove banking activity and block transfer remittances without legal and verified ID.
Deport all illegal aliens, cancel all H1B visas and watch Generation Z thrive and afford homes etc. Deport all illegal aliens.

It is true. We do not need illegal alien workers, even in agriculture.
I lived through the transition from diversified family farms, with year around full-time employees, to corporate monocultures. The corporate farms employed crews of illegal aliens, who earned piecework wages for spring crunch and fall harvest, and were expected to go back whence they came winter and summer.
If this source of cheap labor were not available, the corporate farms would be forced to diversify to offer year around employment. The rural communities which are struggling would be revitalized. Crop rotation would reduce need for chemical fertilizers, enhancing soil conservation, for example. This is the way it was for generations.
And for those who appreciate the farm animals, neither 100,000 hogs nor half a million chickens were ever intended to be pressed together in the mega feeding operations. These filthy, crowded conditions develop resistance to antibiotics in the animals and breed super bugs, like E. Coli and salmonella. Diversified farms would provide better, safer homes for the animals, as part of a strategy to employ farm labor year around. These employees would pay into social security and put down roots in the rural communities.
I am grateful to hear Sundance opine on issues of illegal aliens working in agriculture. This is a neglected topic, that will find a surprising split in the Republican party. I have known prominent Republicans, who have preached conservative principles, yet when asked will answer: “We need immigrants to do the jobs Americans won’t do.” I heard George W. Bush say that, but he was merely repeating the opinion of many in the Republican party. That can change, and we are the drivers of that change. Putting America first means taking responsibility for what we have become as a nation, and correcting the hypocrisies we have collected. It is easy to rationalize the status-quo, and fail to act. But it is better to check the boxes on our to-do list.

The only problem with E-Verify is that the government rarely, if ever informs an employer of an “illegal”.
I know the IRS / e-verify knows that SS#’s are being reused massively but I do not think they care as long as they are getting $$$’s into the federal system, even if only for SS & Medicare as all the other taxes can be mitigated by a high # of “dependents” exemptions.
I had an employee use 10 exemptions on me (he was not illegal but was a POC), I would guess the IRS would impound those monies for “other” issues he had/owed to them/someone.

I live in an area of Montana where real estate simply is not affordable to the up and coming generations. What does the county/city do? They allow developers to build so called affordable housing, which really isn’t affordable. With these three level monstrosities, it’s starting to look like Soviet era Russia in places. Illegals are employed to build everything here and then live multiple families to an apartment unit. Young Americans I know can barely afford to save, when nearly everything they make goes to pay rent. The wealth gap is huge. One day I was in Walmart and nearly every single employee was Hispanic and speaking Spanish. They are the new working class.
Yet, we have multi-million dollar mini ranches and fancy homes all over the surrounding countryside and corvettes are common on the roadways. Had I not bought a chunk of land 30 years ago and built my own house one board at a time, I could not afford to live here. I personally know young couples who want to start a life here because of the skiing, hunting, fishing, mountaineering, you name it, but I know in my bones, that it won’t likely happen. It’s turning into illegals sucking up every job at the bottom.

Sundance is right on this topic regarding Secty Mullins comments. HOWEVER, I am always pleased, VERY PLEASED, when a signifcant number of U. S. Citizens, who are closely listening/hearing to those in power, think that they be sliding “off track”. That’s what helps keep those sitting in powerful governmental positions, in line. That said, Mullins needs to be sure that he thinks, talks, and executes like an executivei in his current job, not like a “sideways” speaking Senator.
