It is a documentary about the British experience during WW I taken from scouring the British war archives for films and interviews of the soldiers. The film was digitally corrected for proper speed, the images sharpened, and colorized. Here is a taste of that masterpiece.
When you hear them description of the German trenches they took there is an aspect one must understand.
On the more active portions of the front of nearly 500 miles of continuous trenches running from the coast of the North sea to the the German trenches were generally considerably better than those of the Allies because they were of the mindset they were defending and would be there for a long time. The Allies however, being on the offensive, viewed their trenches as temporary.
When one adds in the fact there were multiple trench lines, usually a minimum of three, all connected by communication trenches, the total length of trenches combined was about 10,000 miles.

Elaine Chao, wife of Mitch McConnell, issues statement after US return
“The secretary was on a long-planned trip in China to support her family’s philanthropic endeavors,” a spokesperson for Chao said in a statement to The Courier Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network. “During the trip, she met with a number of people, including the U.S. ambassador. The senator’s health did not warrant an immediate return to the U.S.”
Chao’s staff did not indicate whether she’d been in contact with McConnell since returning home, according to the CBS affiliate WLKY in Louisville. She left for the trip to China on June 12, just two days before McConnell was hospitalized, according to the outlet.
Also amid the swirling news cycle, the Kentucky senator’s youngest daughter, Porter McConnell, deleted her social media account on X, according to the Independent.
