Canada booed the U.S.A during the FIFA World Cup opening celebrations. Today, on our biggest national holiday, Morrocco crushed Canada 3-0 sending them home.

Canada became the first of the co-hosts to exit the World Cup as a clinical Morocco won 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals on Saturday in Houston. The 2022 semi-finalists Morocco will face title favourites France or Paraguay as the business end of the tournament in North America approaches. (more)
An ancillary note of historic irony. In December of 1777, Morocco was the first country to recognize American independence. Sultan Mohammed III of Morocco issued a declaration allowing American ships to freely enter Moroccan ports, granting them the same privileges as vessels from nations with established treaties, effectively recognizing the United States as a sovereign nation.

In the ESPN article the Canadian coach went on to say this –
“Canada coach Jesse Marsch insisted that his side were “the better team” in their 3-0 World Cup defeat to Morocco on Saturday, saying “I’d rather be us than them.”

Participation trophy level stuff. Hes an idiot. Once Morrocco found their rhythm the Canadians looked utterly helpless as 3 easy as you please balls rolled into the back of their net

I was surfing by and was trying to figure out who was MAR was. They were beating Canada 1-0, then 2-0 then 3-0 at the end. Great game in Houston – air conditioned to 70deg…..
Knocked them out, so I guess they can go home and watch better teams play.

And in current Canadian fashion they were completely surprised they were beaten. Morrocco has greater depth, energy and fiirepower. The one time Canada met a tram this tournament that was a credible team….Canada lost.
Canada is not a great soccer team its an acceptable one among midlevel teams.

When will this World Cup stuff be over? I’m so over it but, at least people coming here from all over the world are finding out how great America is and how fantastic we are as a people. They are finding out they have been lied to about us and I hope when they go home they spread the word and push back on the misinformation they are being fed and they wonder what else are they being lied to about so at least there is something good coming out of it.
My husband and I watched the end of this game. Have to admit I gloated a little. In your face, Oh Canada.
