[AP HERE] Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said at least 164 were dead and 971 injured; however, the death toll is climbing rapidly.

My heart goes out to the people of Venezuela and those awful twin quakes. Could very likely be natural causes but governments have proven that they’ve been able to make quakes themselves. I hope at some point there is investigation/greater awareness to this issue because governments shouldn’t be able to cause these sorts of things with impunity. Disasters have the potential to be part of hybrid warfare.

Definitely appreciate your point about the other quakes and honestly don’t know enough about earthquakes and interconnecting fault lines to evaluate whether that’s a refutation of being man made or not. If you look at my previous language though (not saying this is what happened or that it’s even a strong possibility that it was man-made…just think this sort of thing deserves more insight and accountability than the automatic ASSUMPTION it has to be a “natural” disaster) the argument was for a change in governmental and media response to these types of situations. I’ve been watching those fires in CA burn down the whole block and yet the bushes and trees around the foundations of the homes all stand there perfectly fine- it’s the DEW weapons I’m sure and yet we’re told it’s a forest fire.

When I saw the map of the epicenter of this earthquake, I noted how ironic and unfortunate it is that the epicenter winds up right at their city and capital of Caracas- and not out there in the large rural areas where it would have done far less damage.

Which only means it wasn’t China.

An observation in the face of this devastation…
Hundreds of thousands who have come to America from foreign lands for the World Cup have been amazed and stunned to find out that their governments and their complicit, enabling media have been lying to them about what America is.
The culture, tradtions, hospitality, foods and much more besides.

Lived in the Midwest when a series of tornados ripped through the area. A group called the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Effort had semi-trucks loaded with food, water, and clothes at the site the next morning. They had follow-up trucks with furniture, appliances, and some other household items. I was impressed with how quickly they responded. I was not impressed with the Red Cross representative who showed up later to “assess the situation”, and tried to get the truck kicked out of the area.
Wow. This was a bad. How does this line up with the New Madrid Seismic Zone in the U.S.?

Lived in Valencia, Venezuela several years ago, and spent a lot of time in Caracas. Let’s just say, the building codes were pretty “loose” and seeing a 14 story building completely collapse isn’t a bit surprising. .we had to bribe literally for any service or documentation as individuals…driver’s license , telephone….even to get in and out of city limits can you imagine what bribes were paid for construction?

I worked and lived in one of the countless city slums where I paid a boy to stand in line for hours to get a bucket of water from the one water source in that community (and then had to boil the water before using it.) Corruption and extreme poverty is the way of life there, and yet you would think you were in a European high fashion area in some parts of Caracas.
It may never recover completely.

…when going to the old Tocumen Airport in Panama, the gringo quickly learned to pay the little fellow, who approached you, five dollars, to watch your car’s hub caps (Pointing to his head, the little guy would say “I keep my eye” while pointing to his eye and then your hub caps- all this in the parking lot you paid a dollar to get in), because if you did not, you would pay his brother or friend, down the road, ten dollars to get them back. Amazingly, they also knew which hub caps they were hawking, were yours!
Earthquakes turn shelter into tombs. Stacking humans into 20 story concrete shelves should never be allowed on fault lines. Nature is ruffled for those moments but basically unharmed… these things are meant for us.
