A familiar pattern emerges as the wife of Socialist Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, is indicted on corruption charges and remanded to give up her passport and return to court for check-in every 15 days until trial.
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — A judge on Saturday ordered the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to face trial on charges of influence peddling and corruption, and to surrender her passport.
Investigative judge Juan Carlos Peinado issued the ruling, arguing that Begoña Gómez represented a flight risk. In addition to surrendering her passport, she must also appear before a court every two weeks. A trial date hasn’t been set.
The decision touched off a heated political confrontation, with calls from the opposition for Sanchez’s Socialist government to resign.
Gómez is accused of using her position to influence government contracts given to a group of technology companies. The judge also accused her of the misuse of public funds in the hiring of a consultant, and the inappropriate use of software while she was a professor at a public university.
Gómez has denied any wrongdoing. Sánchez has called the case against her part of a smear campaign by conservative political opponents to topple his left-wing government, which has been in power since 2018.
Peinado said that a businessman who allegedly benefited from the government contracts and the consultant that worked for Gómez will also stand trial. (read more)

Today I noticed at the park several tools available at a post so that people could use them to adjust their bikes etc. The tools were wired to the post with aircraft cable. Seriously we live in a society where theft is rampant. Guys at work told me they’d buy a tool for what they needed and return it to the store.
Fathers no longer teach their children honesty and integrity. The impact on society of a generation without God is unimaginable.
Here in Canada the govt openly steals our money and sends it everywhere in the world, and to all the newcomers who don’t lift a finger. It is infuriating.

Is Spain in California?
There are three types of people in this World. There are the Makers, the Takers, and the Breakers.
Through the Makers efforts something of value is created. Be it a widget or an idea or a work of art, the World is better for their effort.
A Leftist is simply a Taker. Lacking the ability to create anything of value, they strive to take from the Makers and claim it for their own. The world is diminished by their efforts.
Breakers are a different sort. Lacking an appreciation for anything of value, they just destroy, but they are very useful to the Takers.
The Takers activate the Breakers to tear down the Civil Society so the Takers can seize Power. Expect the Breakers to be activated.
