Listened to Meatball Ron yesterday, he was discussing the plan for elimination of property tax in Florida.
He’s calling a special session next week to get wording to put it on the ballot in Nov.
The outline he presented is that it will only be for homesteaded Floridians.
In a nut shell it will increase the amount of the deduction in stages with the first being $250,000 then to $500,000 next.
It was noted that the first step would cover 60% the second 90% of the homes.
The local government tears should have the ocean rising, something Al Gore couldn’t do.
Seems they have been working on this for a while, hopefully in few weeks we will see the wording,
so long as any government authority can place a tax and lien on our home – our shelter – we never truly own it.

Color me suspicious. How does DeSantis intend to fund that State Trust Fund? None of that is mentioned. There is already no state personal income tax. Sales tax is moderate, so you may be able to raise that a bit.

There is a lot of hate toward Bannon here. I don’t always agree with him, but he’s still on my regular RAV TV rotation. He has value. He is aggressive and I like that. He doesn’t try to be diplomatic and go along to get along. Too many squishes on our side. And he does have a big following, his “posse” does respond when he calls for action. Did he and his followers put Paxton over the top? No, but they certainly helped, especially early on in the primary to get increased focus on Texas and it’s importance to MAGA. He keeps eyeballs on TX, and that’s a good thing. With all of his faults, I think he makes positive contributions to MAGA.

I am fortunate to have a GP that owns his practice. He has been fighting off the medical mafia trying to buy him or bury him for years but so far he has maintained his independence.

We have one as well though it is his PAs who handle most visits. Having said thIs, they are excellent, one we credit with essentially saving my husband’s live with accurate and quick diagnosis. The patient list has grown so big that the time when we could schedule a next week appointment is past though. Now one month to wait.
It is very unfortunate that top-tier medical care, to include rapid response time for appointments and treatments, is increasingly reserved for patients who can afford highly skilled physicians who, together with a limited number of others, own their practices and offer concierge relationships.
I am blessed to have a PCP and two specialists who are highly reputable medical iconoclasts whose practices are not corporately/institutionally owned. Because of the onerous administrative burden, associated cost, and constant grief resulting from dealing with insurance companies and Medicare, they refuse to accept insurance, though they will, as a courtesy to patients, make initial, electronic filings of claims. They tell me that doing so reduces their staff overhead cost by up to 60%. Also, they are available 24/7 for critical/emergency care.
Moreover, PAs have a secondary role of administering medications, coordinating with both physicians outside the practice and with hospital/rehab facility staff, performing diagnostic tests, and counseling patients. Appointments are made with MDs, not PAs.
A significant amount of institutionally provided personal medical care appears to be overwhelmed by demand, untimely in its delivery, administratively bewildering, absurdly expensive, and questionably competent. The flood of DEI doctors in recent years is another discussion.

My son in law had a liver transplant earlier this year at Southwestern in Dallas. It was successful, and I pray will remain so for many years to come. I learned well after his surgery that every phsycian, nurse, etc involved with his case from assessment until he was released post surgery were from India. Which actually shocked me, though from my in-depth reading of what is happening with medical schools and hospitals it really should not have.
My dad valued the nurses he worked with to the highest degreee, especially his surgical nurse who was with him for every operation for decades. She knew as much as he did. This was long before the advent of PAs, whose medical knowledge has to be very broad.
And on reading the stories or medical malpractice by doctors who cause such terrible damage, I dare say many PAs are more educated and than their higher degrees “superiors”.
We are extremely grateful ours are such professionals.

I of course don’t trust Minnesota or Ellison at all when they say that they are working with federal authorities to find and extradite him. On the other hand, if some federal charges were filed against him, or as could be likely, Trump has some leverage or threat against Ellison, he may not have a choice.
I do believe that he is being tracked down, and if he did indeed flee to Kenya, or some other country with an extradition treaty with the US, he will be brought back. Even if he flees to a non extradition country, Trump is very good at finding and applying leverage and there is still a chance to bring him back.
In short, at $11 million I would think that he is too big a fish to let go, also the positive effect of the coverage his capture would elicit would be too much too ignore, even lamestream media would have to cover it.

A federal judge ruled Trump can go ahead with his executive order tightening mail voting in federal elections. Dems’ lawsuit dismissed because [wait for it] they have no standing!
“Given that the Executive Order does not command Plaintiffs to do anything, and that no agency has yet acted pursuant to the Order in a way that could harm Plaintiffs, they have not suffered any harm at present,” the judge wrote.
Nichols rejected several of the Democrats’ arguments that Trump’s executive order could disenfranchise millions of voters, including that creating state-by-state citizenship lists to check voter rolls would somehow be harmful, even if they were inaccurate.
“It remains speculative whether the State Citizenship Lists, if and when they are initially compiled, will contain inaccuracies,” he wrote. “Even if they contain initial inaccuracies, the Executive Order requires the adoption of procedures that will allow individuals to access and, if necessary, update or correct their information in the Lists.”
The judge also rejected the notion that the federal government sending information to the states about voters would somehow violate voters’ privacy.
“Plaintiffs fail to demonstrate that such action—that is, the sharing of name, age, and residence information between and among government agencies, if already known to the federal government—would cause a harm sufficient to establish Article III standing,” he ruled.

Not too long ago, the former Children’s Memorial Hospital (Now Lurie, named after someone unimportant), in Chicago had an issue that shut them down and restricted services big time…appointments, scheduling, vital prescription medication refills…the patients and their parents suffered.

I had a dear friend who was a top level administrator for nursing, at a huge university hospital system…she told me then, the goal is for hospitals to keep you in, and insurance companies want you out of the hospital. 1997-ish….
Make no mistake, the ACA implementation pathway, was vehemently planned for in the late 90’s when the electronic medical record was being pushed…and then the computerization of hospitals heavily pushed in the early 2000’s followed by Bush Baby and his medication in Medicare changes.
