Penguin Six takes us on a tour of the Meridian Hill Park fountain.
He says he saw it working once in 30 years.
I never saw it working in over 50, because it was never safe to be in there. Meridian Hill probably died as a public spot right about when it got renamed Malcolm X Park, in the 60’s or 70’s, and became a druggie and homeless spot, tbh.
It’s funny how it feels to have something that was so wrong for so long get fixed, and then you wonder why we allowed this state of affairs to continue for decades, as if it was just the way things had to be.
It didn’t have to be that way.
It feels as though every day things are being set right that we weren’t even aware were so deeply wrong that we no longer noticed the wounds.
