In 2017 the DOJ and IRS settled a class action lawsuit filed by Tea Party groups for unlawful targeting by Lois Learner and the Cincinnati office of the IRS. The DOJ paid over 400 lawsuit participants dating back to 2013 and the IRS apologized for the unlawful targeting based on political affiliation. {citation}
Between 2018 and 2020 former IRS contractor Charles Edward Littlejohn — who worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, a defense and national security tech firm — leaked President Trump’s tax returns to two news outlets. In 2024, Littlejohn was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty. {citation}
President Trump filed a lawsuit against the IRS for $10 billion in compensation following the intentional IRS leaking of his tax returns. Today, the IRS and DOJ settled with President Trump by establishing a $1.7 billion fund for victims of IRS targeting.
The Associated Press, mainstream media and leftist in congress are framing the settlement announcement as President Trump paying his allies and MAGA supporters. However, the fund is set up to pay all victims of IRS targeting regardless of political affiliation.
If the media and democrats are correct that only President Trump supporters will benefit from the $1.7 billion IRS victim compensation fund, then by direct implication the media are asserting that only President Trump supporters were targeted by the IRS.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration on Monday announced the creation a $1.7 billion fund to compensate allies of the Republican president who believe they were mistreated by the Biden administration Justice Department.
The “Anti-Weaponization Fund” was announced by the Justice Department as part of a deal to resolve President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in announcing the fund in a statement that it was “a lawful process for victims of lawfare and weaponization to be heard and seek redress.”
Democrats and government watchdogs immediately pledged to fight what they called a “corrupt” and unprecedented resolution, warning that the arrangement would unjustly enrich people close to the president with taxpayer dollars and open the door to meritless claims of political persecution. How can the claims be “meritless” when the IRS contractor pleaded guilty in 2024 to leaking Trump’s tax returns and was sentenced to five years in prison?

The fun part is that the fund is 1.776 billion.
The ugly part is that the victims of Dem Lawfare targeting using the IRS are being portrayed as properly convicted criminals.
Just like the J6 tourists.
PDJT always outthinks the Dimms. Always. Hahahaha.
Its one of the reasons they hate him so – much of it due to envy.
Yes! He did it again!
When I reflect on how President Trump does this, what is surprising is that his solutions are practical, down to earth, and straightforward. He is a genius, but anyone using common sense can follow his thinking.
As a society we have become way too convoluted for our own good. IMO that’s because all the liars (politicians and media) try to make everything as complicated as possible so as to get away with the lies. And it worked. Up until President Trump came along.
Attorneys!!
Lois was a slow Lerner.
But the targeting was all Jack Smith’s wicked idea, with help from John McCain.
Pure UNIPARTY, just like the Thune/Schumer Occupation Government, hell-bent on destroying America.
Hey Gip…Did you just say Lois was a slow Lerner?
🙂 🙂 🙂
It’s our tax dollars paying the settlement. I like those tax dollars going to victims of the targeting, but what I want is punishment of the PEOPLE who do these things. If the punishment by people doing bad actions is other people’s tax dollars paying settlements, they won’t have an incentive to stop. I want their jobs, their money (even if it’s via legal costs), a blacklisting from any future government employment, a destruction of reputation in the press, and time in prison. Enough of this.
100%^^
Yes. This protected gov’t class situation is untenable.
The dam needs to break. Post-conviction heads on pikes would be the preferable outcome.
Exactly! Elected officials directing unelected bureaucrat to target President Trump supporters or Tea Party individuals should also be charged they’re the real culprits!!!
Maybe some of the pay out could be used for a whole. bunch. of civil suits.
Find out who the instigators were, the ringleaders, the law fare capos. And
bankrupt them. They were all too eager to do it to the other side. It’s our turn.
And, be sure that none of the suits are filed anywhere near DC, NY, MD, GA,
AZ, California, Oregon, Washington, or Illinois. I’d say a fightin’ chance might exist
in 30+ flyover states.
Agree with you. But “wait and see what happens.” The punishment might be coming.
I hate that thousands of people had their lives destroyed and that at this point money can’t fix how they have been damaged. But it is better than no money. Think of the extended suffering that was caused by people losing jobs and savings. Lots of people have gone without what they needed. This money can help fix some of that.
Oh good.
Americans will be going further into debt to pay for the misdeeds of our government.
For this I’m supposed to be thankful and happy?
I would be much more pleased if the individuals responsible were fired, government would undergo much needed serious downsizing and the IRS would be eliminated.
“and the IRS would be eliminated.”
Bingo.
The corrupt media and DemonRats will never let logic interfere with a political attack against President Trump.
They really are that stupid and corrupt.
Rachel Maddow was so proud of herself with the oversold 2005 1040 tax form on Trump.
I remember that trash.
Judge Napalitono was on talking about it. It will be challenged in court. Trump filed the lawsuit as a private citizen but it was prosecuted by Trump’s DOJ while he was president. The other issue is only Congress can pay out Federal money. I see that one easier to get around as by law Congress would have to pay citizen Trump and he could set up a private entity to handle the payments.
The DOJ has a slush fund to pay out this kind of thing… funded by monies they collect from prosecutions and settlements from companies they sue.
Napolitano FREQUENTLY gets things very wrong.
Well, well…
The Daily Mail in both the UK and US editions had this as their main story.
The framed it as President Trump’s “Personal Slush Fund”, the worst corruption EVAH!!!
Unprecedented!! Screamed the Democrats (only) who were quoted.
The comments were, of course, anti Trump and as expected, vile.
I just went back to secure a link to post, and surprise…
In both both editions, it has been removed. Poof! Just like that, a mere 30 minutes after I read it. As if they’d never printed it.
Why was that I wonder…
(Rhetorically speaking that is.)
Thinking about Catherine Engelbrecht this day. Hope she gets a big settlement. The government tried to destroy her….and it wasn’t just the IRS.
Is this guy Littlejohn actually serving his sentence or is he kicking back at home while it’s “pending appeal”?
If no one goes to jail then it’s only the taxpayers getting punished.
Hardly a deterrence.
“If the media and democrats are correct that only President Trump supporters will benefit from the $1.7 billion IRS victim compensation fund, then by direct implication the media are asserting that only President Trump supporters were targeted by the IRS.”
As I posted on another thread yesterday, these people lack critical thinking skills.
