During the unfolding months of Covid she earned the name Dr. Lockdown for ordering the closure of K-12 schools, businesses and gatherings. Then she quit in the middle of her term. Even though Vivek won the Republican primary overwhelmingly, the dems had 10,000 more primary voters for each of their state-wide candidates. Yes, Trump won Ohio by double digit margins three times, but our state-wide candidates (Jon Husted for Senate against Sherrod Brown) need to run hard.

Okay. Checked the unofficial Ohio state-wide results. For Governor the total Republican votes were 57,600 MORE than Dr. Acton’s. (whew!!) For the Senate the Dems had 53,800 MORE total votes than Jon Husted. Hope he has a big war chest. Old, smarmy Sherrod Brown turns stomachs, but he has a hungry network.

This is devastating news for those of us who live in the Ohio River Valley. Ramaswamy has vowed to make us the “new Silicon Valley” which will permanently destroy our unique ecology, poison the aquafer and raise our electric costs exponentially. We are in the battle of our lives.

Retired Magistrate here: Unfortunately a lot of people were terrified of COVID-19 so they thought that Acton was wonderful; talking to them everyday and telling them to hide, wear masks and be afraid, very afraid. At one time Acton told the people of Ohio that thousands of Ohioans would die from COVID-19 and that the hospitals had to be evacuated to make room for the people infected with COVID-19. If you were scheduled for a hip, knee replacement or other “elective” surgery, too bad, your surgery got cancelled because the COVID-19 people would take priority. Even after all that people still admired her and thought that she saved thousands of lives.
So, we will see what happens. My focus will be on the keeping the Ohio House, Senate and Ohio Supreme Court Republican; that is our firewall no matter who gets elected for governor.

President Trump used to sing the virtues of DeWine but then President Trump found out what DeWine is really like and that the people of Ohio can’t stand him. DeWine almost always found an accuse to not be present when President Trump visited Ohio. Retired Magistrate here: Vivek really hurt himself when he pushed the H1B visas and said that the United States didn’t have qualified IT people and that the ones that were here don’t work hard enough. Then we have Dr. Amy Acton, who was the lockdown queen of Ohio. DeWine was/is our Governor and when it came to COVID-19 he was just as bad or worse than the blue state governors. DeWine gave Acton unlimited power and we had to suffer through daily “we are all going to die” updates from Acton in her white coat.
So I am not thrilled about voting for Vivek but I will. My husband was riffed twice due to off shore workers and he finally got fed up and retired. Vivek is a successful business person so hopefully that will override the unfortunate statements he made about U.S. IT individuals.
Even if we are unfortunate to get Acton as governor, as long as the Republicans can keep the Ohio House and Senate and the Ohio Supreme Court they can override what Acton attempts to do. That is what happened quite often with DeWine who for all intents and purposes is a democrat.
As for Sherrod Brown, yes I think he will get elected again. The only reason President Trump won Ohio by such large margins in the last three elections is the small towns and rural areas of Ohio. Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland are democrat strongholds. Hopefully I am wrong; it took us years to get rid of Brown and now he has back-like a bad penny.

Add a couple thoughts – Putsch pulled 143,000+ votes (18%), and if Vivek thinks those votes will simply shift to him in the general, he is mistaken. Vivek has not just called Americans mediocrities, but believes that someone who treasures American culture and heritage is “looney.” The only way forward, in his view, is uncounted numbers of Hindu Indians on H1B entitlement. Whether liked or not, many are not going to vote for someone who spits in their face. (It does not help that Hindu’s are often viciously anit-Christian.)
It does not help that in the other major race, the DeWine Ohio GOPe has installed Husted as the appointed senator. Husted was recently welcomed onto the Senate Budget committee, by . . . Susan Collins. His major pronouncements have been about how excited he is to “reach across the aisle to find common ground” and how anxious he is to work with colleagues “on both sides of the aisle.” Husted shows every sign of the go along-get along sell-out. He does not figure to generate much excitment. Brown is that bad penny, the calculation could be that two years of that, is better than having to deal with Husted in the way again in two years vs finding another who actually wants to get things done.
The only good news in the primary, was there is a solid chance of finally retiring Marcy Kaptur after her 44 years holding the Toledo seat. Derrick Merrin just missed last time and the seat is better positioned now.
The Ohio GOP still won’t pass a medical freedom bill, because Big Pharma donors won’t let them.

The problem being that the Senate and the Republican managerial class at the state and federal levels are still working to unddermine Trump.

Vivek will say what he needs to win. It’s who he is. JD Vance will pull all the levers to help. The only question is if Vivek can control his true thoughts and not shoot himself in the foot with MAGA voters.

I know Casey personally from auto racing (he is an amateur racer). He has been to my home, and I used to consider him a friend. Until I discovered what a grifter he really is and banished him from ever speaking to me. He has slowly burned all of his relationships with people from the Trump administration, and they will no longer have anything to do with him. His coup de grace was when he said on X that he would hire a group of special forces to hunt down child molesters. While I appreciate the sentiment, this is beyond over-the-top. He is, I believe, a perfect example of what our political system seems to attract. Nut cases and whack jobs that masquerade as normal people. He seemed very normal to me until we reached a certain point where his insanity really started to show. Not a fan of Vivek, but it’s better than Casey. He is Loomer with Levis.
I am not thrilled with Vivek, but I will not ever vote for that mask and lockdown woman. She pushed the fake tests constantly too. Sorry, but I cannot stand to look at her or hear her voice. And I don’t think I am alone.
As things went along, Miss Amy seemed to be full of herself. She liked the attention as the media touted her life story (which was a story of overcoming a less than perfect childhood and family situation, IIRC.)
Anyway, I will be knocking on doors or something to get Republicans to the voting booths. Hopefully, the thought of having Governor Covid-queen will scare the “you-know-what” out of them and get them to say Heck no, we aren’t going back there!

Promoting Vivek will go down as one of the biggest political blunders in history. Acton is going to crush Vivek in the general election. Vivek does best when he is an unseen generic Republican candidate. The more people learn about Vivek the less they like him, and Democratic party oppostion research will make certain people learn a lot about Vivek in the next five months.
Point blank, Vivek got rich by running a fraudulent pump and dump securities fraud scam that should have landed him and his mother in federal prison. This is all public information verifiable by SEC documents. The Democrats are going to scorch him on this. He is unelectable.

Vivek is not a good nomination for republicans at all. He is not a good representative for middle class Americans or Christians period. I’m sick of people who get nominated by their association or whom donate tons of money. Whatever, they aren’t good reps not good nom’s, and they will suck bigtime when they’re elected.
