The pretence about the motive is a boiler-plate Leftist reaction to any incident that was caused by their rhetoric, what’s interesting though is that that he felt he needed to respond at all. It’s almost as if he was trying to forestall any attempt by the radicals to support the assassin and signal to them that this, transparently disingenuous, response to the incident is the official one that they should adopt.

This is the same maneuver they use whenever irrefutable evidence of their crimes come out and on-cue they echo the same phrase: “republicans asserted without evidence.” They say “without evidence” only after evidence becomes clear.
