The gunman who attempted to gain entry to the White House Correspondents Association dinner has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, a schoolteacher from Torrance, California. A registered Democrat who donated to Kamala Harris campaign.

There were five shots… One was from the shooter, running very fast. There were four other shots. If they any were from the Secret Service at least one of them should have hit their mark. There needs to be a lot more range practice. There are ways to practice shooting a moving target… they involve practicing how not to shoot a bystander. this is our president’s life we’re talking about.

Very true. Common firearm safety dictates (among other things) that a shooter must know their target AND what’s BEHIND their target.
LEOs cannot just go “guns blazing” as if they were at a pistol range. Is it a clear shot? Who’s behind the suspect/target? Are there innocent/unsuspecting civilians in the area?

We should be thanking God that everyone is safe instead of casting blame.
Thankfully all law enforcement and all hospitals conduct postmortem analysis of sentient events to determine what went wrong, what was done correctly and what needs improvement. There are many valuable insights here by commenters that can help prevent such situations in the future.
Simply praising law enforcement does not help. I for one am tired of hearing our leaders whether Jeanine Pirro (whom I like very much) or others praising LE when it is clear that SS repeatedly missed their target, was stunned and acted slowly, and most importantly left a room that was close by unguarded. Meanwhile there were so many government leaders in the room.

Repeating a point I made earlier, IMHO, the attacker was probably expecting to be killed before he got close enough to President Trump to successfully assassinate him.
Allen’s probable goal, in addition to becoming a hero and martyr to the left, was to discourage President Trump from appearing at these kinds of events where he goes toe to toe with his opposition and comes out on top for taking the risk of doing so.
We have not seen the last of this kind of thing. My expectation is that Donald Trump will continue to go toe to toe with his opposition at events like the WHCA dinner, and will accept the personal risk which goes with confronting his radical opposition face to face.
