The gunman who attempted to gain entry to the White House Correspondents Association dinner has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, a schoolteacher from Torrance, California. A registered Democrat who donated to Kamala Harris campaign.

If my wife had not stepped in to homeschool our youngest, he would have had a completely different life.
The short version of the story is that he was having reading comprehension problems in elementary school. By 5th grade, he was far behind his peers. On the standardized tests, he scored in the 90th percentile while scoring very low in reading. Essentially, his teacher told us he wasn’t very smart. She didn’t use those words. When I pointed out his spatial reasoning score suggested otherwise.
Fast forward to the 1st 3 months of middle school. Our son continued to struggle. This resulted in several meetings. The result was that they recognized he had a reading problem. Unfortunately, he fell in the range where they were not going to give him the help he needed. Why, because he did not meet their internal standards for getting the help he needed.
We had a choice: we could pay for the help he needed, or we could try homeschooling.
Long story short, everything worked out, and he eventually went to work as a surveyor.

A school teacher from California breaches security with a rifle with almost the entire Trump Administration present. What would have happened if it had been a professional trained hit squad with automatic weapons and body armor?

The video we’ve seen of the attack shows that Secret Service firearms training is woefully inadequate. A moderately competitive shooter can draw his weapon and put a round on target in under two seconds. The agent in the center of the shot doesn’t clear his holster until five seconds after the would-be assassin appears, partly because of poor situational awareness, and partly because he was slow on the draw. And none of the shots fired by multiple agents found their target. It was only force of numbers that kept the guy out of the ballroom. Think they will learn from this?…

Watched the video too. ‘Teacher’ was running so fast I wondered how he was able to get off a shot.
The 2 SS/LEO guys shooting toward direction of where teacher and 3 rd SS/LEO were running causes me to wonder if friendly fire occurred.

The first thing all should notice is how fast the guy ran past all those agents.
Why wasn’t there a physical barrier up in that area? A fence. A check point everyone must pass through first before entering.
And the agents, or whoever they were, were rather slow to react. They seemed surprised and unprepared to stop this guy.

I would remind all that: the shooter had one person he [most …] wanted to hit. But the agents have a room full of people they DON’T want to hit.
This is, in many ways, the best outcome: the shooter is ALIVE and in custody. If you can actually physically tackle him and take him down, that’s SAFEST. And now, you can ask questions. (Maybe with a waterboard?)

For these kinds of events, the security perimeter has to be two layers deep. An outer perimeter to slow down and neutralize an attacker, or attackers; and an inner one to handle what the outer one didn’t manage to stop.
IMHO, the attacker here was expecting to be killed. His probable goal, besides being a hero and martyr to the left, was to put an end to Trump’s appearances at events where PDJT comes face to face with his opposition and gets political mileage by showing them for what they are.
I hate to sound sexist but this lady makes me wonder why are so many senior law enforcement people and Chiefs of Police women? The percentage that are female far out numbers the percentage that out on patrol. Do they get moved up to get them out of the field where they can get someone hurt?

He may have attempted the assassination of POTUS or other govt official all by himself…but he did not live in a cave. Interesting his 27 yr old sister lives in DC. Who does she work for? She is referring to rhetorical shots fired verbally, of course. From both sides. The president would have gotten a lot of political mileage from the verbal exchanges had the event continued on without interruption.
