No, there is another option and I think they are pursuing it. I think they’ve known from the beginning the current regime will never surrender to US demands.
I believe the play all along is to get the Iranian army to rise up and clean house. If you notice, we have attacked the Airforce, Navy, and IRGC but left the Army alone. Prince Pahlavi has said he’s been in touch with PDJT and last week Prince Pahlavi called on the Army to defend Iran and stop the current regime.
I think this is the boots on the ground strategy and actually the only one that will probably bring lasting peace. The Iranians themselves have to topple the regime and the Army hasn’t been touched for a reason.

I think this is a win for JD and the USA, as he met them at the negotiating table, and did not blink. No Obama pay-offs or Biden lip service (“Don’t”), and pretend the matter is settled. Now, whatever PDJT decides to do next will be done with knowledge that Iranian leaders were given 21 hours of chances to decide their fate. We’ve learned over the decades that Iranian leadership doesn’t really ‘negotiate’. They delay, lie and threaten. And commit terrorism and murder.

In my opinion, China wants to keep the war going to get further glimpses of what weapons America has, may be able to find weapon parts from attacks in Iran, and, also to deplete us as much as possible so when they attack, we will not have as much surprise or warfare. President Trump stated that we have taken out their military including navy and other military targets and that he didn’t care, we will see what happens next and no matter what “we win.”

Some of you may recall the press was saying it would take a year for Saudi Arabia to run a pipe line that allows them to ship oil without out using Hormuz. Thanks to help from the US War Dept the line is completed today by converting gas lines to oil lines and using offshore loading (no docks).
This will allow them to pump 7 million barrels per day which is about 7% of the world’s oil and will drop the price of oil by about $20-$30 a barrel. This in turn turn will allow Trump to blockade Hormuz and starve the Iranian military without causing a world depression.

I had some concerns about this also but there are ways to circumvent the WPA, if needed. One would be to recognize a different entity as the true rulers of Iran, then we would be supporting an existing govt by fighting the IRCG rebels.
