Israel Update:
I see that my last update was upsetting to some because I was too harsh toward Sundance. This is understandable, and I should have handled it better. I have been dealing with some flu, which has made me short-tempered. I will now do this update and begin with this subject the way it should have been.
~The Israeli government did not ban Christian worship. There is a general safety rule regarding gatherings, and while I don’t know the specific regulations for the Old City of Jerusalem, I am fairly certain this was a poor police decision on the ground.
As a note, I did not post this, but about a week ago a piece of a missile fell on a roof near the Holy Scapular Church. A few days later, there was another fall in the Jewish Quarter. If you have ever been to the Old City of Jerusalem, you would know that everything there is within walking distance. Even holding a wedding can be an issue, as attendance is limited to 20–30 or 30–50 people depending on the situation. If there is no safe-room or shelter nearby, the police can prevent the entire event.
~The key news of today is a post by Trump:
“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran. ~Needless to say, the Iranians are publicly denying everything Trump is saying.
This brings me back to what I have repeatedly said: if you are serious about change, you must target their economy. The West tends to prioritize ballistic missiles, nuclear sites, and naval assets—but you must look at it from their perspective, not your own. For them, staying in power is the priority. To do that, they must sustain an economy, pay government salaries, and provide basic services.
Trump is now aiming at that pressure point.
~Iran had a successful hit on refineries in Haifa, Israel. One tank caught fire. Not a major disaster, but this is the second hit there. Trump was asked about it and said, “You will see my response soon enough,” or something along those lines. They also hit a chemical industrial area in the south—a site used for hazardous waste disposal. The smoke there does not look good.
~I’ve noticed something. Every day I see lists of targets we have attacked—week after week: military industry sites, manufacturing facilities for missile components, and more. It reminds me of Hamas and the tunnels. What they built there was beyond logic. While their people were suffering, they invested heavily in war infrastructure. I suspect what we are seeing in Iran exceeds original expectations.
~There is proposed historic legislation introducing the death penalty for terrorists in Israel. There are individuals who would not qualify as human—people who raped and murdered. One example that comes to mind is the terrorists who entered a family home in Judea and Samaria and slaughtered an entire family with knives—parents, children, and a baby. This was the Fogel family. And this is just one example. These individuals are later traded for hostages, kidnappings occur to secure their release, and they become heroes.
This brings us to a difficult subject I have avoided because it is a massive project to cover (I did start): the Israeli “Deep State.” In short, they control the Supreme Court and are progressive. We will see whether they attempt to block this law. I will update you.
Even if it passes, it will not be broadly applied—but in some cases, it is necessary justice.
Egypt condemned this, as did Hamas—both of which apply the death penalty themselves. The EU has threatened sanctions against Israel if the law passes. Yes, the EU, in defense of those who murder Jews.
~Iran’s Office of Science stated: “The enemy destroyed 154 scientific installations in 21 universities and higher education centers.” Note that these institutions are directly connected to the IRGC and to nuclear and missile programs. Israel has targeted them over the past week.
~Netanyahu on Newsmax: “There are military solutions to opening the Strait of Hormuz under U.S. leadership, but I won’t discuss them.” He also mentioned long-term plans to transport oil through Israel, bypassing the Strait.
~The UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain are encouraging a U.S. ground operation. The current Iranian regime is as radical as it gets, and they are concerned about the consequences if it remains in power.
~Spain announced that U.S. aircraft participating in the war cannot land there. Note: Spain is competing for the top position in supporting Hamas. A disgraceful government.
~The IDF now has four divisions in South Lebanon. That is significant. Orders have been given to advance further—approximately 6.2 miles from the border, which corresponds to the range of anti-tank missiles previously used against Israeli civilians.
However, this is not enough. They must reach the Litani River. Iran is now including a ceasefire in Lebanon as part of its demands. Hezbollah cannot remain in South Lebanon—it is a violent terrorist organization posing a direct threat to Israeli residents. There are reports of fighting today.
Hezbollah is not a minor force. They possess advanced anti-tank missiles, and approximately 90% of their rocket fire is directed at our forces in South Lebanon. With the Air Force focused on Iran, there are operational limitations in Lebanon.
~Four IDF soldiers were killed, one is in serious condition, and one moderately wounded—following an ambush. May God bless their souls, heal the wounded, and support their families and friends.

This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Francesco Ielpo, OFM, the official Guardian of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, as they made their way to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass.
The two were stopped en route, while proceeding privately and without any characteristics of a procession or ceremonial act, and were compelled to turn back. As a result, and for the first time in centuries, the Heads of the Church were prevented from celebrating the Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
This incident is a grave precedent, and disregard the sensibilities of billions of people around the world who, during this week, look to Jerusalem.
The Heads of the Churches have acted with full responsibility and, since the outset of the war, have complied with all imposed restrictions: public gatherings were cancelled, attendance was prohibited, and arrangements were made to broadcast the celebrations to hundreds of millions of faithful worldwide, who, during these days of Easter, turn their eyes to Jerusalem and to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Preventing the entry of the Cardinal and the Custos, who bear the highest ecclesiastical responsibility for the Catholic Church and the Holy Places, constitutes a manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate measure.
This hasty and fundamentally flawed decision, tainted by improper considerations, represents an extreme departure from basic principles of reasonableness, freedom of worship, and respect for the Status Quo.
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land express their profound sorrow to the Christian faithful in the Holy Land and throughout the world that prayer on one of the most sacred days of the Christian calendar has thus been prevented.

The Grand Rabbi of Israel has gone 30 days without being able to pray at the Western Wall due to the security closure. He will not be able to do so on Wednesday either, when Passover begins.
For the same reason, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was unable to access the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan, its principal festival.
Likewise, although it may be offensive to the Christian community, the law in Israel applies equally to all: prioritizing the physical integrity of citizens, and this week the celebration of masses will not be permitted at the Holy Sepulchre. Neither the people nor their religious leaders, regardless of their creed, can access these places. We are at war, and the Old City of Jerusalem is the main focus of the attacks.
After this the Prime Minster intervened to enable the ceremony.

David, during the Covid lockdowns in the United Stated Christians were unable to attend worship services. This was a horrible and ugly edict by the Biden administration. The excuse was large gatherings could spread Covid.
When Israeli police , part of the Israeli government, prevent Christians priests access to the Church of the Sepulcher on Palm Sunday it seems like a rebirth of ugly discrimination.
Maybe this is ok for you but it is repulsive to me.

The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command sets the rules. Not Govenment.
1. Size limits:
Three categories.
Open Areas: 10-30 people.
Buildings with safe rooms or shelters: 50-100
Events / institutions : often restricted or canceled.
2. Shelter Requirement:
You must be able to reach a protected space (safe rooms or shelter) within allowed warring time. (90 seconds in Jerusalem).
Within Jerusalm Old City this is a problem: Narrow alleys, limited shelters, heavy crowds.
If shelter access is not adequate, even small gatherings can be stopped.
3. Police discretion on the ground:
Even if rules allow small groups:
•Police can block entry or disperse people.
•Especially at religious sites, heavy tourist areas, tight spaces like the old city.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS INCIDENT.
I told you it was an on the ground police decision and not an anti Christian Government decision. And I do tend to believe, without being there to see, that it was a wrong decision.
4. Religious Events:
• Not banned as a policy but treated as any other gathering:
If risk is high – restrictions.
If space has a concrete shelter than allowed.
5. Dynamic Shelters:
Rules can change:
• By hour.
•By location.
•After specific threats or attacks.
Specific rules for Jerusalem :
•Open areas ~10
•Inside buildings ~50 (with safe rooms or shelters)
•Educational or large events :Often restricted or closed.
The critical rule is :
You must have access to protected space (safe rooms or shelter). We see it again and again. The people who are in protected areas survive and others don’t. Unless you get a direct hit on the shelter then nothing will help. But usually the hit is by the shelter and people survive.
•Ability to reach within 90 seconds. (Jerusalem warning time).
If not – The gathering is not allowed even in small gatherings.
Religious sites fill up quickly. Movement in alerts is chaotic.
Numbers are just the guidelines.
Shelter and evacuation ability override everything.
How about Greek/Orthodox Catholics? their Easter is a week later and always falls in line with Passover. Latins sometimes have Easter before Passover.
Is Passover going on a usual?
No. Western Wall is either closed or restricted to 50 people. See my Home Front Command rules above.
Families celebrate Passover together. No mass gatherings as usual.
Those rules have saved many lives. We take them seriously.

I am not kidding a week before I was going to paste here an image of a piece of missile that fell on a roof right next to the Holy Church. There could have been a mass casualty event if it was a full missile with explosives and people were in the structure.

Hello David. I rarely post here but I do want to say this. I read the rather long thread from yesterday and you defending Israel. For anyone who thinks that it was NOT a good decision to close certain holy sites, how stupid can you be? Over here in the States, thankfully, we are not being bombed or have to run to bomb shelters. I personally Thank God that except for Bethleham, the holy sites are in Israel! Israel protects them! Can you imagine if they were in one of the terrorist countries?! They would no longer exist!

Christ comforts his disciples. (1-11) He further comforts his disciples. (12-17) He still further comforts his disciples. (18-31)
25-27 Would we know these things for our good, we must pray for, and depend on the teaching of the Holy Ghost; thus the words of Jesus will be brought to our remembrance, and many difficulties be cleared up which are not plain to others. To all the saints, the Spirit of grace is given to be a remembrancer, and to him, by faith and prayer, we should commit the keeping of what we hear and know. Peace is put for all good, and Christ has left us all that is really and truly good, all the promised good; peace of mind from our justification before God. This Christ calls his peace, for he is himself our Peace. The peace of God widely differs from that of Pharisees or hypocrites, as is shown by its humbling and holy effects.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
