Sad news. The family of Chuck Norris has confirmed his death, Thursday, March 19, with a post to Instagram on Friday, March 20.
KAUAI COUNTY, Hawaii — Legendary actor Chuck Norris has died after he was hospitalized in Hawaii following a reported medical emergency.
His family confirmed on Friday that the 86-year-old icon died Thursday morning.
He had reportedly been hospitalized on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
“While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” his family’s statement said. “We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way. As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time.”
Norris quickly went from an Air Force veteran and martial arts trainer to an American icon. The now world-renowned actor got his start in Hollywood when Bruce Lee invited him to play one of the main villains in the 1972 movie “The Way of the Dragon.” Soon after, he became an international action star, acting in the lead role in numerous movies throughout the 1980s before starring in the long-running hit show “Walker, Texas Ranger.” (read more)

Of all the martial arts actors, Chuck was the real deal. He was a world champion fighter before he got into movies. Unlike a lot of those genre of actors, he really could kick your ass.

As a freshman at a private school in SoCal, year 1968, a young martial arts champion visited our school to demonstrate to us youngins’ a few defensive moves. At the time I had no idea who he was but was awed at his skill and SPEED. He demonstrated how to avoid/deflect punches, some moves on handling a knife attack. The one piece of advice that I vividly remember after all these years, was when faced with a firearm the best defensive move was…..hands up. He was very nice, answered every question we put to him. That young champions name…MISTER Chuck Norris.

A good friend of mine’s wife worked at a photo lab years ago. That lab was working with a studio that was filming a Chuck Norris movie. The producer invited the employees of the photo lab to a dinner with Chuck and his family.
She said Chuck was very soft spoken and polite, and didn’t care a wit about fashion.
