6 more weeks of winter according to Woodstock Willie on ground hog day…just checked my calendar, we have on more week to go….St. Patrick’s Day is week 6…
St. Pattys day is liable to be a cold one for the lake states and NE.
But cooler than than normal with interspersed warmups are liable to dominate right through Easter for the North East quadrant of the US.
We have passed the solar max of cycle 25 and are on the downward slope but as you can see in the graph below solar output has been and still is varying pretty radically right now and that is a good indicator that the arctic vortex will continue to be more perturbed than usual bringing excursions of cold air further south than usual for the next few weeks.
And that cycling between cold and warm plus just observing what we have seen so far is making me think that we’re in for a more active than average severe weather/tornado season this spring. I think Ryan Hall is going to be busy. He sure was yesterday evening and night.
The Chart above, and similar ones reporting sun output is what is “Manmade” Global Cooling / Warming / Change. That and cloud cover (water vapor)
Actually it is believed that cosmic rays are part of the natural cloud seeding process by ionizing the molecules that make up the atmosphere.
Here in Tulare County, San Joaquin Valley in CA we are forecast to have 4 summer days, the 17th through the 20th clocking in at 94 degrees!!! That’s 20 dgrees above our normal. Sounds wonderful except I hope it doesn’t severely impact our ag crops.
Except for the NW where it looks like they may get another good snow in the mountains it looks like winter is over for the rest of the west though you may have some cool days. All the models are showing the cold dipping down over the lakes and moving east from there.

Biography: Paul Alexander was an American lawyer who became known for living with polio and using an iron lung. Contracting the disease in 1952, he survived thanks to an iron lung, continuing to face challenges and achieve notable milestones in education and career. His life story culminated in the publication of a memoir and his recognition by Guinness World Records.
At the age of six, Paul Alexander contracted polio, leaving him paralyzed and dependent on an iron lung. He spent eighteen months in Parkland Hospital, Dallas, overcoming a near-death experience and adapting to his new life with the support of his family and the March of Dimes.
Alexander learned to breathe without the iron lung for short periods and was homeschooled, managing to graduate second in his high school class. He pursued higher education with a scholarship to Southern Methodist University, later transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. I’m getting the typical old man affliction. Back when I was a Ft. Sam Houston I bought a Triumph Spitfire convertible and had a blast tooling around in it. I sold it once I got out of the Army to help pay for sending Niki off to perform with Up With People. Now I wish I had it back even though I’m pretty sure that in a few years getting in and out of it might become a chore. It was white with a black top like this one but had black & white checkered upholstered seats instead of the camel color shown in this one.
They aren’t that expensive cars to buy, but it does take some maintenance to keep them running because of the rear wheel bearings and stromberg carburetors. But man they’re fun to drive.

RAH–find yourself a nice used Miata; no weird headaches, but with all the fun—I’ve had my ’01 since “02; probably give it to my grandson when I’m gone! Tires, battery, wipers–that’s it.
I concur that a good Miata would be a far better choice—reliable Japanese car tech (they fixed all the reliability problems of the British iron . . .) Last I checked, they were still pretty commonly available at decent prices. That said . . .
I courted my late wife in a BRG (British racing green) TR4. On our first big date the starter solenoid failed . . . click!!! . . . She wasn’t up to doing a “pop the clutch” start. Sooooo, although dressed to the 9’s (i.e., straight skirt, stilettos) she volunteered to push me across the parking lot.
I popped the clutch and got us started. She laughed and teased me all the way home. I knew I’d found a “keeper”. We were together for 55 years. 🙂 Still, if I wanted an old roadster, it would definitely be a Miata.

My dad had a Triumph TR3. I took my first drivers license test in it. The parallel parking was a breeze. Sure was a fun car to drive. It, too, was all white with blue leather seats with the soft top that could be removed, and real wire wheels.
In my best friends Triumph we would cruise the streets of Hampton Beach in our bikinis. Woo-Hoo! Ripe old age of 18!!

We had a sporty Triumph TR-3 in red. It was great looking, had a stick shift, roll up windows and side curtains. It sure was fun to drive.
We loved to drive up to Watkins Glen, NY for formula 1 races. In the vast parkin lot the Triumphs parked in one area,the Jags in another area etc. Luigi Chinetti arrived by plane with a pretty woman wearing a dramatic camel colored cape. Those were the days.
I believe it was at Watkins Glen we saw the 3 seater Ferrari prototype designed by pinafarina . It was beautiful as I recall.
Must be something about the TR3s. My dad put in a small bench seat behind the front seats where my sister and I sat. Who knew a TR3 could be a family car. We drove up in it to Carmel every year to watch the formula 1 races at Laguna Seca. Fun times.

COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 22:6
1 We should be more careful to do that by which we may get and keep a good name, than to raise or add unto a great estate. #2|. Divine Providence has so ordered it, that some are rich, and others poor, but all are guilty before God; and at the throne of God’s grace the poor are as welcome as the rich. #3|. Faith foresees the evil coming upon sinners, and looks to Jesus Christ as the sure refuge from the storm. #4|. Where the fear of God is, there will be humility. I can’t post here from my Tablet which is what I use in the evenings after the day has finally expired. I get a “You Are Forbidden” message when I try to access the site. Probably something to do with the tablet being totally wonky but it is what it is. Or something to do with web use in 2026 is maddening.
