Many teachers don’t want to participate. They are scared into it because if they get sued they have to provide their own counsel supposedly.
In NY, if you are not a union member the union still has to represent you in contract matters with the school district. All employees are covered under the contract that the union negotiated. There aren’t separate contracts for union and non union members. This makes it easier to opt out. The unions hate this fact and they are not friendly about having to do it, but they do have to by law.

I have read some of the so called lies and it seems that the one instance that they seemed to be in business together, it really wasn’t that simple. Lutnick signed papers and would not have known who the other investors were. His company had a minority stake in Adfin.
They were neighbors.
He had a dinner on the island with his family and another family.
There is nothing in the files to indicate that Lutnick did anything untoward.
It does appear that Epstein was trying to lure him into his circle, but it didn’t work. (A $50k donation to something to do with Lutnick, but Epstein didn’t show up).
I think there will be a LOT of people who came into Epstein’s orbit who are totally innocent of anything other than they were in the same circles at points in time, or Epstein had some kind of business related contact (that they might not have even realized was Epstein connected due to sub-companies etc).

This is exactly what’s happening.
Whether Lutnick was more involved with Epstein or not, he will be chased now forever in the media and politically over his name being there in the files. If he did something more than a casual social connection, then he should resign and do the right thing. Pres. Trump knows the truth of it I would imagine.

Most people would just call it lying.
Most people don’t always remember all the details of events that aren’t important (like having dinner with someone you don’t know well, and don’t want to know well, and by the way his wife also attended). So instead of “lying,” many of us could look at that and consider he might not remember the details.
Many of us are also willing to balance that agaisnt the good work the man is doing now for MAGA. I for one don’t want this country to go any further down the tubes and Secretary Lutnick is a fighter for MAGA.
I said “most people” meaning most ordinary people. But Secretary Lutnick doesn’t lead an ordinary social life. He and his wife have many social engagements. So it’s all the more likely he might get confused on details of one unimportant dinner. I’m not claiming he did forget details. I’m just saying it is reasonable that he might have. But then I’m not trying to trash him.

PDJT stood at the podium and says he inherited a stagnant economy. The US GDP grew 2.8% in 2024. In his first year back it grew 2.2%. The economy he inherited was not stagnant. It was growing faster than the one he is running now.
PDJT also said the economy is roaring like never before. After-tax income, adjusted for inflation, grew 0.9% in 2025. In Biden’s last year it grew 2.2%. The 2025 figure is the smallest gain since 2022. Hiring has slowed and wage growth has slowed with it. That is not a roar. That is the opposite of a roar and the numbers are public.
Max’s argument is the classic case of missing the forest for the trees because he’s too busy staring at a spreadsheet provided by the very bureaucrats whose bloat is finally being trimmed. He calls that 2.8% in 2024 growth, but conveniently forgets it was a sugar high fueled by unsustainable deficit spending and a massive expansion of the administrative state.
When you cut over $1 billion from propaganda arms like NPR and strip away hundreds of thousands of redundant federal positions, the “top-line” GDP number is going to reflect that transition. As for the “roar,” Max is ignoring the fact that core inflation is finally breaking toward that 2% target because this administration actually had the spine to stop the spending spree. Larry Summers resigns from Harvard amid Epstein fallout
Former Harvard University President and Treasury Secretary Larry Summers will resign from teaching at Harvard at the end of the academic year, according to multiple reports Wednesday, the latest fallout from the Epstein files as the former treasury secretary was shown to have a close relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The announcement, which follows the release of emails between the two men, marks a formal break with the university with which Summers had been associated since he was a graduate student and then tenured economics professor before serving as its president from 2001 to 2006.
A former Treasury Secretary and one of the foremost economists of his era, Summers had already stepped back from duties at Harvard and several other organizations, including the New York Times, Bloomberg and OpenAI. He has been on leave from Harvard since November.
Also on Wednesday, Harvard placed mathematics professor Martin Nowak on paid administrative leave in connection to a university investigation into his ties with Epstein, the Harvard spokesman said. Nowak didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Nobel Prize-winning Columbia neuroscientist resigns over Epstein ties
(The Hill) – A Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist at Columbia University resigned from some of his positions with the institution over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Richard Axel, co-director of the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, won a Nobel Prize in 2004 for discovering over 1,000 special receptors in the nose that send olfactory information to the brain.
“My past association with Jeffrey Epstein was a serious error in judgment, which I deeply regret. I apologize for compromising the trust of my friends, students, and colleagues,” Axel said in a statement obtained by NewsNation, The Hill’s sister network. “I recognize the problems this has caused, and I will work to restore this trust.”
The Epstein files show Axel was friends with Epstein, going to his home in Manhattan multiple times and helping the disgraced financier with connections to university officials, The New York Times reported.
